Was anyone banded in December of '06?
Luvbnanurse replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Beversman, I was banded Dec 26 and have lost 84, I am stuck too and it frustrates the hell out of me. I don't work as hard as you do, I have seen your posts and have been in awe of your progress in exercising , wish I could do half as much , I take that back, Wish I would is the right way to say it. I bet your are losing fat but gaining muscle, which is what I need to jumpstart my body, lol . -

I am doing real well, weight loss has slowed down for me right now but I have lost 84 pounds in all , that is pre op diet too though. The diets are rough I won't lie about that, but you have to look at the big picture why they are doing it and realize that it is necessary, and you wouldnt want to compromise everything you have worked hard for to get this far. The biggest thing for me was learning how to not drink with meals and taking small bites and chew the fire out of everything, if not the feeling of being stuck really sux. Stock up on broth and jello for after surgery, they will become your friend, lol. But by the end of your liquids you will never want to see broth again. Holler at me if you have any questions or just to say hello anytime. -
Very well said Wasabubblebutt !

Thanks so much Susie!!

You may be irritated from the PB ing, I had to go to liquids for a couple of days and take zantac to heal my stomach, the swelling is what makes you continue to pb and if you dont let it heal it will just get worse, or at least that was my experience. If it doesnt get better go to the doc, you may be too tight and it is not good to let that go on. A small unfill will do wonders and I havent regained any weight because I can eat good food instead of junk.

I don't know what that means about the envelope. No I don't think you are handling it wrong . I would enjoy myself. I think it is called the last supper syndrome or something like that, we want to eat everything bad for us before we have to start the liquid diet and all. If you don't have a certain amount the doctor said lose that may be hard to do, I would say have a good time. I wouldn't go overboard with banana split everynight or anything but eating regular food rather than a strict diet is what I would do. Have fun and welcome to Lap Band Talk. -
Thanks so much Wasabubblebutt, she is my pride and joy and the funniest facemaker, I want to keep a copy of the page for her scrapbook so I want her to win. But I am not biased or anything, lol yeah right. Thanks again!

In a few months all of this will be a memory , the waiting, anticipation, the rough few days after surgery, the dreaded liquid diet, lol But all of it is well worth the results!
-
It took me forever too, and the waiting was horrible.

Exactly my thought Wasa,no worries about that, after a couple of fills, you will be throwing your guts up if you try it. The appeal will no longer be there. And in my case I didn't want to anyway,I didn't have the same kind of unsatisfyable hunger like before.

Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"
Luvbnanurse replied to Chickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 23 pounds from goal and it is going so slow now it may be next year before I get lol, well in my own defense I had to have surgery the other day and whenever I have any type of surgery it is like my body freaks out and I actually gained a few pounds but lost them again but it just got me back to where I was before. It got my hair to start coming out again, not as bad as before but it gives creedence to anesthesia being the cause because I am not lacking in protein. -
What weight for regular size clothing??
Luvbnanurse replied to KarenG.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kat you are doing so great, I hope someday to hit the 100 pound mark. We must be about the same size , I was a 10 shoe though and gone to a 9 or 9.5. Rings from 10 to 8. Sunglasses fit better. I was 277 and now 193 , I have fit into a 12 but it was tight and my face was turning blue, I thought it best to take them off, lol. I am 5ft 9 too. Congrats on your wonderful weight loss, I hope to be there too, wait, I will be there, lol have to think positive. -

Well I can't give em up,lol . when my husband peeled that one I didnt have any problem so I guess I will live, lol. We just planted a large garden year and have tomatoes coming out of our butts so I hate to waste free food. Wasa, I love salsa too and I am glad you said that, I know where to get the stuff at Walmart to make it and lord knows I have enough tomatoes! I have been giving them to all the neighbors and now I know what to do with them, it takes alot of them to make it and I can get some of them out of my kitchen, Thanks! -
I think drinking thru a straw is supposed to make you swallow air, and it gets trapped in your chest . You can drive yourself home after a fill it isnt bad at all.
-
Hi Summer ! Welcome, good luck on your surgery!

Hey fellow December gals do any of you have trouble with tomatoes? I have a million of them from the garden and I love fresh tomatoes but they seem to be giving me trouble. My husband made me a salad and he peeled the tomatoe and it seemed to have helped but I don't know if it is in my head that it helped , I thought maybe if I asked yall someone may have had problems too. Thanks ! -
Does anyone regret being banded?
Luvbnanurse replied to kero's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't regret it at all. Sometimes it is harder than others and I get stressed but then I slip into clothes that are the smallest I have worn in 20 years and it seems so worth it! When I don't have to get up and take meds anymore and can walk for miles, I don't regret it at all. -

No more hoping the handicap stall is empty and if not hit my elbows when I try to move around in a stall, and praying I can get out if the door closes in instead of out. I am having a yard sale and selling all my fatter clothes so I can buy some that fit. Gonna be hard selling my bigger stuff I still wear it even though I look ridiculous, have to stop I have worked hard to wear a smaler size! I fit on the couch so much better, feels good to be able to lay on the couch and not fill it up,my grandbaby and I both fit to take a nap now! -
Did your doc try to talk you out of it?
Luvbnanurse replied to justwant2lose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor (pcp) was all for it, my surgeon never mentioned bypass, I don't even know if he does them. My pcp was happy with my weight loss, and I have gotten off alot of meds so it has to be a good thing. -

What weight for regular size clothing??
Luvbnanurse replied to KarenG.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I never want to shop at Lane Giant ever again! I am 5ft9 193 and wear a 14 and a L or XL shirt . No more 22-24 or 2X or 3X. I was there too long. And I always wore a size 10 shoe now it is a 9- 9.5.
