If you didn't already know these things you didn't do much research. Any surgery is risky, Doctors are human, there can be nicks and complications. That is the risk you take, nothing in life is considered to be perfectly safe. It is her job to keep you informed, so people won't have something happen and sue saying "No one ever told me this could happen". Give nurses a break they are there to help you, sounds to me like she was doing just that. If that upsets you maybe you are not ready to do it. To me the surgery was the easiest part of this journey it is no picnic, and yes I am a nurse.

I don't get it? PIZZA??
Luvbnanurse replied to krp2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have no restriction yet, but the reason for the mushies and all is to let your stomach heal and the stitches to adhere, I am not here to preach but don't screw up all you have been through to test things out, you are not ready yet let your stomach heal and don't risk making yourself sick and messing up all the surgery you have worked so hard to get. Good luck in your journey! -
If I am stressed I will tighten up and I can't hold down anything solid.
-
I wouldn't do it, you miss and you're messed up, hit the tube , not worth it to me and my insurance won't cover fills and I am a nurse, use needles all day long. Just my 2 cents.

If you ever figure out how to fix head hunger let me know, I struggle with it everyday, my mind still tells me I haven't had enough when I have made myself sick eating. It is the worst thing ever and I know what you are going thru.

Been in a bad mood since getting banded????
Luvbnanurse replied to BethC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I was first banded I used to get really mad really easy, I remember a co worker who got tired of me fussin she yelled out "Somebody get her a sandwich!!" I had to crack-up it was then I realized that food had been my life and I lost my friend, it was awhile before I got better but I did when I started feeling better losing weight. -

alcohol swabs:thumbup: -
It has happened to me with every surgery but not to the extent it did with the lap band but as I said my personal opinion is shock to the system from all things involved in it. But whatever the reason my hair is back.
-
I am 3 years out I lost alot of hair at first but it stops my hair is thicker than ever now, it does come back. My feeling is your body is in shock and I do think there is something to the anesthesia theory, but whatever the reason it does stop.

3 things you're going to do when you've lost enough wgt (discretion advised)
Luvbnanurse replied to Albacheeser's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
1. I want to wear scrubs that fit good not look so frumpy. 2. I want to feel like just one of the nurses not the fat nurse. 3. Be able to tuck in my shirt. -
I think ice cream is EVIL,lol. I sit in the den and I hear it from the freezer calling my name. I just had to stop buying it or I could eat myself sick with it. It is just so easy to eat and you feel like you dont have a band for a little while. Sort of a rebellion thing I think.

How long have you had your band and are you still happy?
Luvbnanurse replied to Beka's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can sum mine up pretty easy, would I do it again? No. -
Congrats Becky!! Your new life is starting today, I am not far from you in Columbia TN , congrats neighbor!
-
Way to go VW!! I loved looking at clothes saying no way will this fit and then it does, I wanted to walk around with the tag showing saying look look! , congrats!
-
Yes it happened to me , after about the same weight loss and it scared me to death. I have heard every reason under the sun and I tried everything, but it does stop and your hair does come back, my hair came back as full as ever. I actually think it is the lack of nutrients but who knows, I am just a nurse not a doctor, but it does come back.

Feeling pretty nervous surgery tommorow
Luvbnanurse replied to carden's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was nervous too, even to the point of crying and telling my husband I wanted to leave when they were ready to take me to surgery. But I am so glad he wouldn't let me go,lol. It is worth all this and you can laugh about all this torment later like I am. -
Soda soda soda
Luvbnanurse replied to MrsFlipFlops's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't drink it , I haven't since surgery but man could I go for a coke or Dr Pepper sometimes, lol. It isn't worth it though. -
After I was approved it wasnt long at all, sorry it took so long to answer I just saw this, I had to see the psychiatrist and get his answer back and do the blood work and I had it, it was alot faster than I expected. That time frame seems right it was no time after I got approved. Congratulations! I know it seems like forever to get the approval . Oh yeah I had to do the liquid diet I forgot about that, it used to be 2 weeks but I have heard he only requires a week now, dont know that for sure but that is what I heard. Good luck !

He is a great doctor, really nice and down to earth. I go to nursing school with some girls from Wayne County. The surgery isnt bad and it is oh so worth it. Doctor Morton is really easy to talk to and will spend time explaining things , good luck!

Poll: Insurance pay or you?
Luvbnanurse replied to Chuckles's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My insurance paid 100% but it doesnt cover fills , stupid huh? You can have a band but you dont get any follow up care! But I was blessed with the initial payment and I will forever be grateful for that. -
Hi Patty ,I don't know much about medicare but I do know about asthma. I used to be on 8 different meds before surgery and now the only one I use is albuterol and that is just every now and then. My asthma got remarkably better and I just want to say good luck and it really did help me make asthma management possible and I havent been on prednisone in a year.
