About Me
My name is Katie and I'm 26 years old. I currently work at a restaurant as a server and go to school at SVSU. I am in my last semester of my graduate program for Occupational Therapy so my masters degree is finally right around the corner. I love to watch and play sports. I played basketball, volleyball, and softball in high school and I still like to play in rec leagues at the community center. I really get into football games. I love fall Saturdays, watching college football or maybe tailgating.
I love to travel. I have lived in Michigan, Hawaii, and Thailand, and have been to Japan, Mexico, Haiti, Canada, Ireland, the Caribbean, and all over the US. I am really into humanitarian efforts around the world. One of my biggest goals in life is to help improve the lives of others in whatever way I can. I have a heart for the impoverished and it hurts me to see injustice in the world. I thrive on adventure and I like to try new things, whether it's jumping off a 50 ft. cliff into the ocean, living in a hut in a random Thai village for a few months, or spending the summer working at an orphanage in Haiti. Life is about the people in it and the experiences that are out there.
I have struggled with my weight ever since I was twelve years old. It has been an issue with me for as long as I can remember. I finally got fed up with trying all of the different "trendy" diets that didn't work and researched the lap band procedure. After two and a half years of research, I was finally banded on Feb 16, 2011. I am both nervous and excited to start this new chapter in my life. I am excited for the changes, but nervous that I will have a hard time. Either way, I have finally put my foot down and I have decided that my new life starts now.
