  7. Banded 2/16/11, I have lost about 25 lbs since I started the process and about 13 since surgery, still on purees per doc's orders and hope to start solids in a week, 2nd post op visit tommorow, not sure if i need a fill since i get full so easily, but trying to figure out how many calories i should get a day since im doing about 600-800 and even thought i dont feel it my body is probably starving, i also think i have lost a lot of inches, people who dont see me everyday say its very noticeable. Since surgery i have been sooo much more happier and positive, I will succeed in this!

I actually like plain greek yogurt, taste like sour creame so it goes on my soups, beans, etc! I use the vanilla one in my shakes!

    Support from Family

My fiance/bf od 8 yrs has had a somewhat difficult time too but I think they just get scared you will look sooo damn good you will leave them for someone better! It's stupid and childish, I know! I told him from the beginning its about my health and being able to be active with my girls who are 5 and 10. If he cant support you then maybe consider taking him to a support group for WLS, I went to one and they are great! Let him kow this does not happen over night its a challenge that will take awhile. Maybe he needs to get off his butt and do some reading and research on Lap-band and know that you did not do this to impress others, etc, you did it for you! You have support here and I know its not the same as him but if he cant support you in this then what will he support you in. Do not let him get you down, you worked hard to get where you are at right now! WLS is not a cure just a tool to help you. I was just banded almost 2 weeks ago and it is a life changing event, its not easy and he needs to respect that!
  12. So I had my surgery the 16th, feel great, been walking a mile, my 1st post op appt this past Wed doc told me to walk more, push myself, no problem there! But that I needed to do liquids for another week then I can start purees, ok thats fine but I was starting to drink protein shakes every 3-4 hrs cuz I wasnt feeling full so on Thursday I put half of a little container of greek yogurt into the shake and i was happy n content all day till about 5....I know I probably should not have done it but while readingthe lap-band bookelt it did say "yogurt" was a liquid, I know its not but it helped so much. So today I did the same but since Im not taking in as much protein because my shakes have decreased do I push myself to just drink it to meet the protein requirements or what! Argh! I go back on the 10th for my almost 1 month appt, since my doc will be going to Europe, other than that I feel great and seeing my family eat, and I even cooked for my kids today, did not bother me! But I do miss chocolate milk so far!
  13. I was the same weight starting off so Im happy to hear it woked for you, that makes me feel so confident, I am 228 now too! yay! Thank you! I also had 2 peope tell me they knew others it did not work from, I dont wanna hear negative but positive! Thanks for the motivation!
  14. Well I finally got the lap band after trying for almost 3 years. I am on day 4 of recovery and feel a lot better, I just am going stir crazy at home with nothing to do since I cannot help clean, pick up my children, or doing anything that involves alot. It's been raining so walking has been out of the question. Still on liquids with protein shakes and the same stuff is getting really boring! How many times can you possbily drink broth, eat jello, and popcicles...Hot soup is what Im missing so bad right now through the cold stormy weather! Any tips or anything I should know! Im scared cuz I had 2 people tell me they knew people who failed on lap band, I refuse to be that person! Congrats to me, it was a big step!

    Banded on 2817/11

I was banded the day before you and feel great too, I walked a mile today and cant wait to do it again tommorow and maybe even twice! I just hope when I go for my check up on Wed I get to start stage 2, congrats!
  16. I got banded 2-16, I can only have clear liquids, jello, popsicles, and of course protein shakes and water, but Im still hungry! Am I not getting enough protein in the day, one shake had 35, the powder has 18 a scoop so Im trying hard to make it what Im supposed to have a day, and sipping slowly, I feel I can actually drink normal, whats wrong with me! Im not supposed to go on purees for another 9 days! I just dont wanna hear my tummy make those noises!

    Surgery tomorrow!

Good for you and a big cngrats! I had mine on the 16th, and yes the shoulder pain kills, I read online to sleep if you can tolerate it , on your right side so it can leave your body quicker and I really think that helped! I was more focused on that pain then the incision pain, the port incision hurts the most, not really hurt but is sore. Walk every 2 hours if you can and take sips as tolerated! Everything so far has been true and I wish you the best, you will be fine, you made it this far!

I got banded the same day, my congrats to you! A new beginning!
  22. Hi I was also just banded this week on Wed and and had hiatal hernia repair and i heard my hernia was bigger than the surgeoon thought. I had a tight feeling in my upper chest and yes it does hurt to cough, sneeze and not being able to not burp was hard, but now on my 4th day and I feel so much better, off the pain meds and the only thing that is really bothering me is my port incision, if you notice anything out of the ordinary i would call your surgeon, it also helps to use the spirometer they should of gave you to open up the sacs in your longs to a faster recovry, good luck!
