August 2011 Bandsters????
bobrocky replied to killerhighlights's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that I've handed in everything, I was told I will have to wait up to two weeks for Cigna to approve me. Praying for sooner rather than later. I'd like to be on solids before I go back to work in September. Luckily, my school directors are being very supportive of this change for me, even if it means I miss some work. They've been so great. ( I think it's because my director is a very large woman herself and want's to see how I do on this. ) -
Has anyone kept their lap band a secret?
bobrocky replied to amber22's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I put it on Facebook, so I guess it isn't a secret. I've told my boss and coworkers. All but one friend has been supportive. The one who wasn't was upset bevause we both know many who had gastric bypass who gained it all back. .(why I'm having the lapbad). I wanted the support and the accountability. It will help me not to cheat. -

Sounds like you should get into some support group classes. They will address your needs and fears and help you get ready for the surgery if you decide to have it. My insurance requires I take several classes. They are very interesting and always take questions. -

Strange. I went to a support group last week and they encouraged us to chew gum to replace the need to chew food. Sugarless gum, of course. I've never swallowed gum in my life. Also, I was told by my nutritionist that I could have coffee in moderation, a cup in the morning. -

Hi, neighbor? I live in Buena Park, no far from you. I'm hoping to be banded around August. I hav Cigna, so I have to wait 6 months, but I've almost finished everything two more classes and some dr. Visits and I'll just be waiting. Good luck! -
I use my iPad in class all the time. I take attendance on it. Keep grades on it. Do lots of keynote presentations with embedded video, music, text and photos. I can show YouTube and things on the Internet as well. It hooks right up to an LCD projector. My student love all the things I do with it and so do my admins.

Does decaffeinated tea count as water?
bobrocky replied to kab1278's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All those drinks start as water with flavoring added. They are close to 100% water. So, they do count as water. Most any diet will tell you that. All we do is try to make it more interesting by adding flavors for variety. You're more likely to get your full allotment of water if you enjoy drinking it. -

Met my surgeon today, Dr. Hamamji. Nice man. Went over the six months ahead of me and what to expect. I'm feeling pretty good about it all. Have meetings to attend and exercise program to start. At least I'm on my way and ave taken first step.

Does Cigna require a before or after fitness program? I'm referring to a gym or trainer program. I've heard some insurances do.
