  1. I bought a pill crusher and I crush them and add a little flavored Water (like crystal light) to it. The worst are these Red Yeast Rice capsules I have to take. They are gross. This I found as a bummer about the lap band. But maybe after I lose weight, I can get off of some of my meds. Good Luck to You!!
  2. What is a realistic weight loss on the lap band? I was banded on March 31st and have lost a total of 30 lbs since starting my 2 week pre op diet. Am I being realistic to believe that I can be down to my goal of 175lbs by Christmas? Like everyone, I wanted to wake up from my surgery skinny. Although I am losing weight at a good pace right now, I am wondering if it will slow down, especially since I am adding different food each week. Any thoughts or encouragement welcome!!

    HELP, just got Banded

If your like me, you will be on thin liquids and protein shakes in a couple of days. That means strained cream soups and protein shakes. It was hard, but you can do it. I was so looking forward to the cream soup on about day 5. Stay strong. I had my lap band done on March 31. Hang in There!!
  4. 1 week since the Lap band and I am feeling great. Down a total of 30lbs. I lost 20lbs during the pre op diet and another 10 this week. First few days a little sore. I had a scare on Monday night...thought I was having a stroke...turns out I was dehydrated. Thank God!!

  5. Getting closer....how are you doing. I am so hungry on this pre op diet...5 more days...then liquid...lol...not much to look forward to.

  6. One more week until lapband. Have lost about 10 lbs. on pre op diet. Hope evryone is doing good.

    Any Bandsters in their 50's?

I'm 51 from Southern CA. I'm getting banded March 31. A little scared alot excited!! I am on the pre op diet right now and have dropped 10 lbs.( probably mostly water weight). It was pretty brutal the first few days, but I'm getting used to the reduced (way reduced) calories. Good Luck to you!!
  8. All I can say is don't give up!! I'm getting banded on March 31st. I am scared and excited at the same time. The pre op diet is brutal, especially if you like to eat. But I am doing it because I don't want to gain anymore weight. You have to understand that this is just a tool. You still have to watch your intake. So go check it out..what do you have to lose! I sound like a Lap band ad. LOL

    Regrets

Wow, 26lbs already. Good for you. How was the pre-op diet. Mine is real strict. A Protein shake for Breakfast and dinner and 3oz of chicken or fish and 1 c. mixed veggies for lunch. Just Water and tea to drink. Oh and 2 cups of black coffee with sweetner. I should drop some weight with that. Were you scared the week before your surgery?

    Regrets

Thank you all for your encouraging words. I think that change is always scary and also that thought of another failed attempt at trying to lose the weight. I am looking forward to enjoying life and not always basing everything on what I will or can eat. I hope the band is the answer to my prayers and will help keep me on track so I can live a healthy happier life. And that I can shop at any store and find something that fits. I am so tired of all the plus size clothing. They think that fat people like to wear ugly clothes. I don't know about you, but I get real depressed when I shop for clothes. So here's to a good decision to get through my pre-op diet and get this surgery behind me and hello to my life. I have already said, I've lived the first 50 years of my life FAT, I want to live the last 50 thin. Thanks for all your support. I am ready for the next step!!

    Regrets

Anyone have any regrets that they did the Lapband. The closer the date the more I am freaking out. Getting ready to start my 2 week pre op diet and am having my last few sodas before I start. Having no more diet sodas for the rest of my life will be hard, but I am sure I can do it. Does everyone go through this before their surgery. I am so tired of being overweight and definitely want to change...but does it have to be so drastic...so permanent. I am so mad at myself for getting into this predicament, but if I don't do something I am afraid that I will be at the point of no return. Any thoughts or suggestions??

Surgery Date Set! Any fellow SoCalers out there?

My pre-op is 2 Protein shakes and 1 meal at lunch consisting of chicken or fish and 1 cup of steamed veggies and Water. If I can get through this, I will be okay. I have been trying to cut back to sort of prepare me. How much do you want to lose? I am hoping to lose at least 75 lbs. Ideally, I need to lose 100lbs. Gosh, with this pre-op diet, I should drop 10 or 15 lbs. We will see how it goes. Keep in touch and give me all the details of how it's going. My husband is not real supportive in much of anything I do, he just wants me to be thin again....whatever it takes.I have had to have 2 foot surgeries in the past year and after each one, I have put on 15+ lbs. and it just won't go away. Well keep strong and know that WE can do this!!! Talk to you soon.

    March 2011 Bandsters

My band date is March 31.....I am so excited and so nervous at the same time. I get mad at myself for letting my weight get away from me. And at the same time glad there is a solution. I just hope it is a good decision to do such a semi-permanent thing. I guess life will be different after the LapBand. So all I can say is here we go and good luck to all the March bandsters. I will be bringing up the rear!! Hi Everyone!! Where are all the March bandsters at?!! I was just approved last week and have a surgery date of March 16th. Looks like I'll be starting a two week pre-op liquid diet (Optifast) on March 2nd which I'm not looking forward to!! Anyone else scheduled for March? Do you have a pre-op diet to follow? Good Luck to everyone!!
