True. I was told today by the doctor that the band wont even last 20 years inside a body and it will have to be replaced. And it takes about 3 years to lose all excess body weight. And I recevied the very strong impression that when the band comes out you regain all the weight. So does anyone out there know of anyone who had the band removed who has or hasn't gained the weight back. Also if I was not commited to changing my life style, it would be completly stupid to waste money and have this surgery.

I never said that this was the place to do it. The only thing I said was that if you want to get rid of it you are going to have a hard to almost impossible time of doing it.

I've only seen one pornographic post. There's more? I guess the main reason is people like sex and people like talking about sex. And its hard to filter a website with so many different people posting stuff on it all the time.

I want to have the Lap Band surgery. I am attending a seminar this weekend and talked to my doctor yesterday. She was neutral of the idea. Although she did tell me that she has heard of people getting the Lap Band and then just gaining all the weight back. I have not heard of a case like that, and if I get the surgery I would be her only patient who has ever got the Band. So how much weight have you lost and have you keep it off? Do you know of anyone who has had the weight come back. Now I do know that if the weight comes back then it would have come back no matter what type of surgery the person had. But since this surgery is so expensive I want to know how many of you had the weight come back? I will also be asking the doctor doing the seminar that question tommorrow but I think that the best answers come from the people who have had the surgery. So please reply and thank you.

Thank you, for your reply. Yeah she should be a member of my team, but im sure im not the easiest patient to have. Gosh, that sucks that BCBS of Alabama doesn't pay for the surgery. Why do they think we pay them money for? Oh, well......... My doctor wants to get me healthy she just wants it to be in the form of a pill, but since I am none responsive or alergic to almost every pill my doctor can come up with it is not easy for me. I did lose weight when I joined Curves, but I suffered a severe fall and now have nerve damage in my left foot so I am starting to fell like I am running out of options. Hey, we live in T.N. but my insurance is BCBS of A.L. do any of you know if they pay to have the lap band surgury done? What all did you have to submit to BCBS for them to aprove you? I heard of something like a 6 month diet, but I really dont want to wait that long. Im 19 and have a BMI of 47, is there any reason why I would be turned down? Im just nervous that my doctor will tell me that I cant have it (she hasn't liked me since I told her to mind her own business, when she ironically asked me why I keep gaining weight. She was being a witch about it though.) Please someone help me put my mind to rest.

Hey, I was just wondering if BCBS pays for this surgury? And what all you had to do to get approved? I go to my Dr. thursday to talk to her about getting this surgury I really want it but I am nervous that she will say no (she doesn't like me, dont ever tell your doctor to mind there own business.) So I was wondering if you have any hints to help my get her to my point of view. I want and more importantly need this surgury. I meet all the guide lines for having it. Im 19 with a BMI of 47. So I really hope I am worried for no reason, but please help anyway.
