    Little milestones...

Today I found a watch that I bought myself over a year ago. It was on sale and so cute I couldn't wait to wear it. When I got it out and tried it on it was too small. My husband was going to get another band for it, but it was put away and it was overlooked until today. I can get that watch on now. It made me think of a few necklaces that were too tight. I can accessorize now! It is nice to see some small changes to keep me on track. I am 3.5 weeks post panding. I have lost 18 lbs since the band and 25 since I started all of the pre op stuff. I am at the point now that the swelling has gone down and the hunger has come back. This web site is helping me keep myself in check. I will have my first fill on 1-29. I am really excited, except for the gastroview that I have to drink uuugh. I never had a real weight issue until I was 22. I was in a bad relationship and when that marriage ended I was over 250 pounds. I was in denial for a long time that I had a problem. After I looked in the mirror and really saw myself the right way, I knew I had to do something. Life went on and I married again, I had 3 beautiful kids, I graduated from school and landed my dream job. With all of that settled, I focused on what I needed. I found that I was up to 291lbs. I enjoyed the pre surgery work up that my hospital requires. 12 weeks of a weight loss program, a psych eval, sleep apnea test (I failed), egd, gallbladder ultrasound (I failed that too and had my gallbladder removed on 11-9), 6 weeks of behavior change group therapy and a lot of appointments. Now it is done, I am banded and her I sit feeling content. I am seeing results and for the first time in a long time, I believe in myself again. :clap2:

  3. This past Halloween we were on a hay ride with our kids. I was sitting in the back with another lady who was not as heavy as me, but not skinny either. The tractor spun its tires for a second and she looked at me and said "Looks like you have to get off Melissa", I didn't let it sink in until later. That comment was totally rude. I knew I was going to have this surgery, so I just focused on how great I will look at the next Halloween party. Melissa:rolleyes:

    Secret? Yes or No.

I started out thinking that I would keep it all to myself. We live 5 hours away from most of our family. I ended up talking about it and I felt better. People at my job are supportive for the most part. I did have to take Christmas off to recover, and that was a bit of a sore spot for some. My friends and family are very supportive. My sisters keep me in line. My husband has been great too. I feel like sharing my story will help me stay on track. If others are noticing my success, I will be less likely to fail. In my support groups there were some that wanted to be private. Co workers were a problem and some had friends that were not help. I guess what I am saying is do what feels right for you. Melissa

    3 weeks post surgery

Hi I am so glad that I found this web site. It is nice to be able to communicate with others who are going through the same thing as me! I am doing well. I lost 16 pounds the first 2 weeks. I have lost 2 more in the 3rd week. 25 pounds down from when I started looking into lap banding. I am trying to talk myself into geting back to the gym. I know, I know I have no excuse. I will do better this week. As far as food goes, I am getting the hang of everything. I had a few days where I was hungry, and I overdid it some. I did not like the feeling so I got back on track. The trouble is I feel like I could just about eat anything. I don't though. I am very excited to make friends on this site and hear about others and their success. Melissa:D

    Hi

I was banded on December 19, 2006. I am down 16 pounds and I feel great. I am excited about finding this site so I can talk with people who know what I am going through.

Getting Started on A New LIfe

Hi I got my band on December 19th too. I also feel frustrated about what to eat and when. I am just entering the puree stage. I have been sipping a lot of soup. Good Luck to you. Melissa
