Hello Everyone: I am 2 days post-op; I had my surgery on April 16th. So far I am doing ok in the pain department. However, I am feeling the same way, I am having a hard time figuring out how much to eat, feeling weird all the time and regretting the surgery. I keep asking myself over and over again what I have done. I am trying to stay positive but it is hard. Please keep me in prayer. Thanks!

I just wanted to ask everyone to please keep me in your prayers as tomorrow (4/16) is my big day. I’m counting down the hours now -- I am so nervous and excited at the same time about being banded. My surgery is scheduled for 11:30 am, have to be at the hospital at 9 a.m. I have made successfully through 7 days of liquid diet. Wasn’t sure how I would do. Yes, it was hard but I was determined and I did it. Thank you everyone for all of your advice – It has really helped me!

Hey This is the end of day 2 on liquids. It's really not bad that bad, I was expecting the worst. I have to have at least 80mg Protein each day and less than 50 calories. Suprisingly, I haven't been as hungry. My surgery date is April 16th. Stay encouraged and good luck!

I have offically started my liquid diet today, surgery is scheduled for April 16. All I have is 3-4 cans of Protein shakes per day, and any liquid with zero calories and zero carbs for 7 days. So far so good - I know it will rough but well worth it! Good luck and much success to all the April Avengers

Hello everyone, It's been months since I have posted anything months since leaving Kaiser. I started back lurking the boards 2 month ago when I started the process with BCBS. My scheduled the surgery date is April 16, 2008. I am extremely excited and scared at the same time. :biggrin::thumbup: The surgeon is Dr. Marc Rickford at Comprehensive Weight Loss Center in Washington, DC. I am trying to prapare myself by reading everything here to ensure I am ready and know what to expect. I will have to do 1 week pre-op liquid diet, not sure what as of yet. Take care for now.....

Hello I am getting banded April 16th by Dr. Marc Rickford in Washington, DC. I am so excited and scared at the same time. I know this is best decision I have made. I refuse to continue down this road of obesity. 2008 is a New Year for me and I am ready for my transformation. After I completed all of the testing and evaluation. My paperwork was submitted on March 6. I received a call from the scheduler on March 14 stating I was approved. I was practically in tear. I was orginally told it would take a couple of weeks and that I neded a letter from my PCP. I never got the letter from PCP and they still submitted my paperwork, I guess I didn't need it after all.

Swim 13: I too have Kaiser throug the job. I live in Maryland. I have been trying to get an answer for a couple of months and all I get is the run arounds. My doctor put in a referral for me to see the nutritionist and I ahve to complete a 6 month behavior modification program. I have been signed up to take Castric Bypass classes and though I have requested the Lapband. I'm told Kaiser does not cover the lap band but my physician saying he is doing some research and for me go to do what they require until I get an ok. It is very annoying. My physician is located at the North Capitol Medical Center. Most people I talked to on this board who had Kaiser had to switch to another insuance in order to get approved.

Hello Teresita and Group: Thanks for the information you provided. I did send CrystalStar11 an email but have not heard back from her as of today. My doctor gave me a referral to the nutritionist and today was my appt for the Weight Loss class; after speaking with her and telling her my plan for the LB, she told me Kaiser (wash DC area) only does GB and especially not for feds (She said LB has a verry low to none success rate - I find that hard to believe after all I have read on the site). However, my PCP has not said yes or no, all he said is that he is still waiting for a response back from provider services and still gathering info. I explained to her that I needed to deal with my PCP on that note. I now have to do a 5-6 mo behavior modification program and attend GB classes even though I want LB. I am considering switching health insurances but have to wait for open season in Nov-Dec. Do you have any suggestions on what insurnace co. I should go with that will do the surgery? Also, any additonal advice you can provide is appreciated. Thanks. 309.8 lbs with no co morid.

I have no co morbidities except a bad right knee due to my weight. I weigh 304 and my BMI is 48.2. My PCP told me that I qualify because uase of my BMI and belive he is willing to give me the referral once he gets all the info. While I am waiting on him can I call the nutritist to schedule an appointment. What is the 6 month journaling for? I have been complaining about my weight for a while, I have noticed that my knee is starting to bother me more and more each day.

I know it is too late to change insurances that took place by in Nov-Dec 06 and I would have to wait until the end of this year. I am hoping I can get an answere from my PCP soon. Hi All: My name is Cathy, I live in Maryland and currently haver Kaiser HMO through my employer. A week ago I requested a referral for the LapBand from my PCP. At this point I am still waitng an answer as to who, if anyone, does the surgery for Kaiser. I know Kaiser's background and would like information from anyone who has had the surgery through Kaiser in the Washington, DC area. I am seeking info on how to begin, what steps I should be taking, things I should do or consder doing to get through the porcess, who did their surgery and any other information that may be helpful to me in this process to ensure all goes well. I was told it was covered and refereed back to my PCP. I am feeling alittle uneasy about Kaiser at this time. Thanks for your help.
