Me too--I have no problem with fluids the day of fills.
-
louise: if you don't loathe prune juice, it's a lifesaver.
-
-
Sunshine: I was told to stick with fluids AFTER the fill, but I wasn't told I couldn't eat/drink before the fill.
-
I have no clue why this happens... it's a little creepy. Here's another update... I was very restricted for a week after my 2nd fill, but I'm finding the restriction is wearing off. I go for my 3rd on Apr. 18th.
-
Kelsy... I had that "percolating" sound in my stomach after my last fill too.
-
Purpose:- I think it's wise not to do the cleanse. EAT! You'll be wasting away in no time.

Hang in there everybody. I've had 2 fills (total of 6.5 cc's in a 10 cc band) and I'm now familiar with PBing, sliming and restriction "OH JOY!". I think I managed to get in 700 calories yesterday so I'm adding a protein shake to my diet. They're easy to get down and the protein is important. I hadn't lost any weight since the first week of post-op, but since the 2nd fill, I've dropped 2.5 lbs. in a week! It works....

After 2 fills my experience is that "Full" doesn't feel the same as it used to. With the added restriction of the second fill I find I reach the painful, "I'm about to have a heart attack" stage, before I ever feel full. After one bad episode (now I know what PBing and Sliming are!!) I can identify the feeling and stop eating before it happens. What's weird though is that sometimes I can eat more than others so I have to be really conscious of my body and how I'm feeling as I'm eating to know when to stop. The "20 minute, eat slowly rule" are words to live by.

Hey there! Can I get on the January list even though my surgery was February 1st? I find the February people are a little too for behind me (although I'm on their list too) to answer my questions so I've been drifting onto this thread.

Thank you all for sharing these very touching and articulate stories. I wish you well with your journeys and hope this is your "magic bullet".

same here.. "stuck twice and foamed once!" Not pleasant. I had the same experience. Cold food that was probably too dry.
-
With this second fill I'm significantly more restricted. I had my first experience with PBing and Sliming. Not meaning to gross anyone out but the pain of having food stuck is way worse than throwing it up (which actually gives you relief). Now I'm afraid to eat so I've lost 2 lbs since Friday! I have to eat more, but make my bites WAY smaller and SLOW DOWN.

Fill doctors in ontario (eastern i.e. ottawa)
Tres Chic replied to joe7777's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is a woman, who is on the same fill schedule as me, that I run into at TLBC. She drives in from Ottawa for her's, so I'm sure she'd like the answer to this too. -
Thanks! That was fun...

Purpose: Glad the port pain isn't serious. In my experience, there are NO good protein bars. A 1 lb. loss after the first fill is great, since I've heard that most people don't lose after only 1 fill. I noticed after about a week after the first fill, I was ravenous, so I was pleasantly surprised when I too lost 1 lb. :clap2:
-
Freetobe: My port is hard to access as well (apparently it's twisted which may require another surgery to fix--yikes!. My 1st fill took 2 stabs and my 2nd fill took 5 trys and 2 different needles!!
-
DameJ, et al... Update on my 2nd fill I definately have a little more restriction, and I've found I have to be much more conscientious about eating tiny pieces, slower eating and chewing well. I'm also eating considerably less. Thankfully, I've only had 1 incident of getting something stuck (which is unpleasant to say the least). I guess this is a learning curve here... For instance, I'd dearly love to know before I take that last bite that puts me over the edge. Enjoy your Easter everyone (or Passover, or whatever)
-
Yasmina: congrats on surviving your first fill, and for surviving what appears to be WINTER IN APRIL in Toronto... grrrrrrr. I've been finding I have much better restriction since the second fill, but I think the 3rd one will be the charm (based on what my January counterparts tell me). Hey, are any of you folks going to the conference in May?

pre-op - was everyone scoped before surgery???
Tres Chic replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
..you don't have to have a Psych eval if you come to Toronto. I guess they figure if you're crazy enough to pay $16,000, knock yourself out. -

I had blood, EKG and chest xray. -
Hopefully your doctor is explaining the procedure to you. If you think it's a magic bullet, it's not, but if you follow the instructions and do your part, I'm sure you'll be fine. Sometimes reading the posts is a little daunting. I postponed my procedure twice before going ahead. Now I wish I'd taken the first date!
