I had a lap band from August 2012 - May 2014, but had it removed to the blanket termed "intolerance." I couldn't keep anything down in the last 6 months, even with my band completely emptied. So, had that bad boy removed and decided to try again myself to lose my excess weight.
I've done what feels like every single diet, but without much success. I've tried personal training with box gyms. I've tried personal training with a body building competition trainer. What I found was that I can gain muscle super fast, but still can't lose this extra weight around my abdomen. I've had lymphedema in my left leg since early adolescence that I've been dealing with as well, that we've never figured out.
I got referrals to a bunch of specialists to try to figure out the lymphedema thing when it was so bad this past winter that I was having to wear my husband's work boots since my wide width winter boots weren't fitting it. Discovered that I have PCOS, insulin resistance, and a fatty liver... and all of my specialists are suggesting that I consider WLS again due to the insulin resistance.
Surgery is now scheduled for November 15, 2016. Two days after my 33rd birthday. Still waiting on insurance authorization, but I'm confident it will all work out!
