Please tell me about your experience. I am pre op, scheduled for this week, thanks!

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum, as a matter of fact I've never joined a forum before! So I am getting banded on 2/18. I was scheduled for 2/15 but I came up with a terrible cold so we had to resch! Hopefully I'll get better on time!! I am 5/4 and weigh 235. I'm on my liquid diet and its killing me, I'm starving!! What did you guys eat (drink) on your one week pre op diet? How was your experience the day of surgery (before, during, after?) I'm scared to death of this operation, I've never had surgery before! Please share with me your experiences and how you would go about the procedure and preperation if you could do it again. Thanks!

Finally got banded 2 days ago!! I'm still trying to recover, this is quite painful, mostly the gas that is. Thanks for all the great advice. I'm so excited for this new chapter in my life!!

Hey guys I'm better from my cold thank God, my band is scheduled for 2maro and Lord am I NERVOUS!! I will keep you all posted on how it went. Wish me luck!!!

Hey guys just a quick update from me.. I had a really bad cold around the time of my scheduled surgery (2/15) so we rescheduled for that friday (2/28) Well Friday came around and I was still sick so now its scheduled for 3/7. I'm so bummed out that it keeps getting pushed back! I still have a pretty bad cough that wont go away, any tips on treatments for the cough?? Wow great advice again! I'll never say no to the sugar free pudding lol. I can't believe you lost 40 lbs! wow! thats so awesome. Where can I find the Isopure protien drinks? I'm in LA, I'm not sure i've seen it before, but then again I've never looked for a protien drink. Thanks again!

Thanks! Great advice with the walking, I had no idea! I will make sure to do that. I have no choice for work, I practically had to give up my life to get the two days off! (Friday, Saturday) So I'm just going to have to stick it out. Now I'm wondering if my regular (tight at the waist) slacks are not going to be a good idea after surgery.. eeeek. Thanks again =) Natty

Wow Sunny! Thank you so so much for taking the time out to share your story with me! For starters, I'm so sorry about your mother, but at the same time I'm sure she's so proud of you for going through with the lap band. I actually have a mental image of how everything will go and that's exactly what I needed. It's the unknown that scares me the most, and its not so "unknown" now! Your very inspiring! I hope all goes as smooth with me as well, I have to work soon after, I hope the gas wont be a problem lol =) I didn't know about the other threads I will be sure to read on it (for hours) lol Natty

Wow that helps! Hopefully mine will go as smooth!! My doc is very very specific on the diet he wants me to do, I even have to do the liquids up to two weeks after surgery! ughh! I'm scheduled for surgery on Friday, and scheduled to go back to work on Monday, I have an office job, do you think that is sufficient time off?
