Hi guys! Greetings from band land! I got banded on 7/6 and was home by noon the next day. Operation went very well, only three incisions and they all feel OK. Gas pains are sucky but walking does make it better. I'm super glad my two boys are spending the week with my parents, there is no way I could have taken care of them when I got back yesterday. If you have children and an option for extended childcare, I would greatly suggest it as you are going to need a little time to heal. I can't really keep down much more than Water at this point (ice chips really) so I'm going to try putting other things in ice trays ( juice, Protein Shakes, etc.). Overall feeling OK, just looking forward to a full recovery soon and my boys coming home
I hope all our 7/6 & 7/7 bandsters have done well and good luck to everyone else!

You did very well loosing 11+ lbs! Just remember you may "mess up" when you have the band too, it's normal, it's human nature. What counts is how you deal with it afterwards and what you learn from it. I'll be in surgery tomorrow at 9 AM and I'll be thinking of all my other 7/5 buddies! We're going to be great!
XOXO

Not scientific here either. I was at my happiest (not thinnest) at 165-170 and a size 12. I was 25 at the time, living alone and that's when I met my husband. I was healthy, comfortable in my skin and could shop at White House Black Market (my favorite Store). I'd like to get back to that.

I swear it gets better after day six...I know, big help. I am craving nothing, can see my kids and husband eat a big Breakfast at the hotel's buffet and calmly sip on my shake. I'm not hungry and can think of things other than food (normally food consumes my thoughts). It really much better after day six (day nine today). Surgery in three days...yay!

Heading out to the beach for vacation and July 4th festivities. I have four more days of pre-op diet and until my surgery. I hope I can manage to stay on the diet while away! Wish me luck! I hope all of our first few banders are recouping VERY well!

Nechama, it is great to hear from you and I'm so glad you are doing so well!
Tammy and Aly, so sorry you had such bad days! I'll be on pre-op starting July 5th and will be joining you guys in the struggles. I feel lucky my doc is only making me do 10 days instead of his usual 14!
How is everyone else doing on their pre-ops?

I have to say it's been tough but somehow today was easy breezy (day 7). Hang in there it gets better...eventually. I'm still constipated but other than that much better today. My mom suggested I sip warm liquids ( clear broth, tea) to help with the hunger pains and I think that's what really made today better. Four more days to go! Still have to get through our mini holiday and July forth festivities at my parents but I kinda feel like it will be easier from now on . Good luck to everyone! I love reading this post everyday!

I want to loose 70 lbs. That puts me at a size 12 and around 165. Its what I weighed when I met my husband and was very happy and comfortable at that weight. I figured it's fairly reasonable and doable.

8 more days here and counting. This pre-op diet is crazy, I'm hungry, constipated and have no energy. I'm staying focused though, almost there!

OK...so it's not just me..LOL! I'm terribly constipated at day three. I hade some "smooth move" tea and that helped me go but now my butt is all irritated. A bit low on energy too but not too horrible.

This might be TMI but is anyone else constipated fro. Pre-op diet? Day three here...nine more days

My cheating today was a piece of light string cheese....I just needed to chew on something, I am PMSing so bad. I really don't think it's a big deal though, it's like 10 calories and no carbs.

Congratulations more2love! That's what I look forward to the most shopping somewhere other than lane Bryant....specifically shopping at White House Black Market and Ann Taylor Loft.....I can't wAit!!

I have a headache and miss my coffee like you wouldn't believe. Other than that day one was OK. Eleven days to go!

I need to have 2-3 shakes and a small (no carb) meal per day. That's it! She said no adding fruit to my shakes (meanie) and sugar free Jello only if I need it (I need it). I have my son's birthday party on Sunday and a mini vacation for 4th of July but I gotta stick with it! I'm heading out later today to look at getting other shakes and add some variety. I'm excited though...looking forward to a new me!
My surgery date is July 6th too! It's coming up so soon! This is the third day of my pre op Protein Shake diet. Wednesday and Thursday I was a miserable person lol... the shakes made me gag, and I was not a happy camper. But I started to experiment with the shakes a little by adding some cinnamon and sugar (counting calories for them still of course!), strawberries, frozen rasberries, Peanut Butter (95 calories for 1 tbs) and it has made a WORLD of a difference. We'll get through this... only 11 more days! What are the requirements of your pre op diet? Good luck... we got this in the bag!

I'm having the surgery on 7/6 and today is my first day on the liquid diet. I'm a little nervous about it (the diet and the surgery) but I'm determined to stick to it. It's just 13 days, right?
Any July 2011 Bandsters?

They have me doing shots for seven days, it's not bad at all, I promise. I am a giant chicken and I'm doing it with no problem. They had me do the first one myself at the hospital to make sure I could handle it and it was no more than 3 seconds and hurt much less than a bee sting. Easy, least, just don't over think it!
