I'm almost five years out of surgery and I'm struggling a bit. I'd love to find a local support group as well as a surgeon in the area for follow up. Please help.

Hi! I had all liquid taken out of my band last year but I am still very uncomfortable/restricted sometimes. It seems to come and go and I can't figure out the reason. I eat slow and I eat healthy, no processed foods most of the time. I am so frustrated. Is anyone else having this issue?

I've been juicing a little lately but I'm not sure I'm logging it correctly on myfitness pal. Do I make a new recipe and just add the veggies/fruits to it? Or am I loosing some calories from the stuff that doesn't get juiced?

I love checking this post to see how everyone is doing! I've got ten more lbs. to go but they're coming off very slowly (not complaining though). I do find I'm always eating on the go. Sitting down three times a day for over 30 minutes it's just not happening. I'm vowing to start tracking on myfitness pal again, just to make sure I'm not getting off track. I do need to start exercising soon. If I get my schedule changed at work I'll be looking for a gym membership soon. I wish you continued success July 2011 bandsters

I have the opposite issue. During ovulation and my period I'm very, very tight. It's not uncommon from what I hear to feel a little difference around that time.

Jean who and why would anyone gloat about you having to revise??Band-bashers like Formerlyfluffy seem to feel that karma is biting me in the butt.
I had no idea you were in here Jean! I'm not very active but I check in every now and again. I wanted to tell you your book has been so helpful these last nine months. I referr back to it constantly. Thank you for writing it!

Today is 1 year since I had my surgery. I have lost 102.5 lbs. This is the best thing that I could have done for myself! Woohoo!Yay! Congrats on the amazing success!

You need to be upfront with your Dr about alcohol use. I had turned 21 a couple months before so I told him plan on drinking once in a while. After all the reason I got the band was I could live a fun and more enjoyable life. Listen to your drs suggest about when you can start. Remember alcohol is empty calories but I always say they are damn good empty calories. Also remember since your losing weight and eating less you are going to be more of a lightweight. Also you should search the forum cause this topic has come up before' date=' so you can get more input.[/quote']Totally second the lightweight thing. Go slow at first. You might be surprised how little it takes.

Angie, I was banded 7/5 and have lost 44 lbs so far, hang in there...there's no rhyme or reason to how much weight one person looses compared to another. I've been in the "green zone" and after a while it starts to feel like before I had surgery, that's how I know it time for another...it's like the "green zone" keeps moving. LOL!

I just had my second fill on Thursday, a week after my first. That first one did nothing for me but now with a full 2 cc I am in Greenland too. Also, oddly enough, I lost four lbs. In the last four days so I guess plateau is over (for now). A total of 25 so far here too! Loving it!

Warning for TMI: has anyone else's sex drive gone through the roof? I'm seriously distracted by this! I'm completely consumed by this spike in my libido. My poor DH doesn't know what to do. This is great exercise, though.
Just curious if any of you is having this issue? I remember having the same problem a few years ago when I got really skinny. It didn't go away until I got pregnant and stayed fat. Meanwhile, I feel hormonal changes in regards to my TOM, less acne (yea!) and an out of the blue desire to have a baby. This is insane, but the ride is fun.
LOL..not uncommon, I think. It's the aftermath of feeling better about ourselves

Fantastic! So that's what 160 looks like! I'm inspired! Congratulations!

Hang in there (I should take my own advise) your body needs to adjust. I lost 22 lbs pre and post op (7/6) and not an ounce in the last three weeks. Just keep at it...it will pay off.

Thank you Winifred

My first fill was only one cc...and I was feeling kinda bad about calling for another one so soon, but I think I will tomorrow. Thanks for this post

I tried it pre- band and found I couldn't get pass week 5. I'd like to try again now with 22 lbs. gone. I too live in the south (fl) and it is saying to hot! I think I'll start it in two weeks when my oldest starts kindergarten then hit the treadmill at the gym. Good luck with the program, it's really great and it's very rewarding!

Please tell me there is loss after a plateau! I've lost 22 lbs. (banded 7/6) but I've been at the same weight for 3 weeks! I got my first fill last week but I might call for another fill...I'm not too hungry and I'm eating about a cup three times a day plus one snack. I know I need to start exercising but I just haven't yet. I'm super happy with 22 lbs gone but..I want more!!! As always I'm failing to see the light at the end of the tunnel and worry that'll be 214 forever!! Please tell me this shall pass!

18 lbs so far counting 12 days pre-op. I'm getting on the dr's scale today so we'll see what that says. I feel much the same though, and my clothes fit about the same. I know this makes no sense but I keep thinking I'll be at my goal weight but still wearing a size 20 (I'm fully aware of hoe ridiculous tha sounds). I am excited for the future though...a little at a time and I'll get there
Congrats to all of you guys!

Hey all July Banders,
I apoligize now if I upset anyone.....but I am at the point of saying "What have I done?" I know this feeling will pass, but I don't feel well, I don't feel "right", I always feel like I have indigestion or heart burn (i have never had either), I still don't know if I am hurting from hunger, healing pains, or gas, or hernia repair and since Wednesday evening, I am pouting even watching a Kentucky Fried chicken commercial!! Again, I know this will pass, but I do hope that this "not quite right" feeling goes away soon.
On the up side, I am down 15 lbs since last Thursday, but I still can't hold in my stomach and walk up right!
Please, early banders, tell me it will get better!!!!
Lisa
YES honey, way better!! After the surgery (7/6) I could not even get 200 cals down for the first three days, I kept crying out of nowhere and for no reason and swore that if I ever had a Protein shake again would die! Of course all the crying made everything hurt worse. Let's not even mention it took 30 minutes to drink my dose of pain killer and it tastes like poo...almost rather be in pain right?
Today I feel almost back to normal, eating about 900 cals a day and already on solids, heck I even had a Protein Shake for lunch because I was working and had no time for real food (didn't love it, but I didn't die). I see my surgeon on Tuesday and I'm excited to see what his scale says. I had doubts about doing the right thing a few days after surgery but today I'm really looking forward to this journey. Best wishes to you and congrats on making the decision to change your life!

lol crash! We were banded on the same day and I do the exact same thing (many of us do). I also weigh daily, just excitement and eagerness but I only count once a week. Congrats for your weightless so far

Thank you so much Darlene! It feels good not to be alone. I hope purée is yummy

Welcome back Stacy! I was banded 7/6 in the am as well. No where near close to my 64 oz of liquids for the first two days but already better today. I had Jello, half a Protein Shake and quite a bit of Water, one day at a time right?
my mom offered to keep the boys a few more days ( we were going to get them back tomorrow). I miss them like crazy but they are 2 & 5 and very active, so I think it's wise to give it another three days before I dive fully into the usual madness that is my life (which I love). I can't wait to see them and hug them! I can't wait to feel more like myself too and resume my daily activities, just a little longer now.

It's day there post op and I'm feeling A LOT better but I have a little bit of numbness and tingling at the site of my larger incision (where the port is). Has anyone experienced this before? I'm thinking maybe I'm just sitting funny and can just walk it off but I wanted to check with you guys to keep me fro panicking (I've done that a few times in the last two days).
Any thoughts?

Hi guys! Greetings from band land! I got banded on 7/6 and was home by noon the next day. Operation went very well, only three incisions and they all feel OK. Gas pains are sucky but walking does make it better. I'm super glad my two boys are spending the week with my parents, there is no way I could have taken care of them when I got back yesterday. If you have children and an option for extended childcare, I would greatly suggest it as you are going to need a little time to heal. I can't really keep down much more than Water at this point (ice chips really) so I'm going to try putting other things in ice trays ( juice, Protein Shakes, etc.). Overall feeling OK, just looking forward to a full recovery soon and my boys coming home.
Thank you for the powdered Peanut Butter idea and link, that sounds delish!
