    Headaches After Lap Band Surgery

My headaches have stopped since I got banded. I used to get a couple a week - now none.
  3. Tell your dad you don't want him to have to bury you. That's just not how life is suppose to work. Maybe the bluntness will get to him.
  4. Cool! Hope it fits. Thanks fir your service.
  5. People don't die from hunger. They die from starvation. Big difference.
  6. I had mine removed 2 1/2 months after band surgery. I wanted to lose wait before the gall bladder removal. I actually hit the ground running after that surgery. Virtually no down time.
  7. These people have never seen you thin, so they have no imagination and can't vision it. I tell people that my excess weight is evenly distributed over my 5'7" bOdy and that's why I don't look like I still have 25 to 30 pounds to go. If you stop now and regret it later, it will be a lot harder to get started losing again. Follow your heart and have the body you want.
  8. There is no way you should be that sick on a pre-op diet, unless the food you're skipping is all of your protien. Or you are in cafiene withdrawal. I'd get on the phone in the morning and explain exactly what you have eaten. If she is still an insensitive twit, I'd look fir a new office. You need the support of the nutritionist
  9. Because if there is food in your stomach they won't operate and every thing you've done until this point will be a waste.
  10. There is a group in Arcadia at Methodist Hospital.
  11. Here is what I was prescribed after my lap band surgery. Hydrocodone-Acetaminphen Soln which I under stand is liquid vicodin. Best stuff I've ever taken for pain an I was an Advil junkie. You can't drive and take it, but if you're home or ay bed time it's great.
  12. I wouldn't take ibuprofen and I totally agree with you about Tylenol. Call your surgeon and find out why can be prescribed that you can take and that take that info with you to the back doctor. For today, if you have any of your surgical pain meds left take them. I was given a liquid vicoden that was great.

    The secret life of PBing

It's all about chewing and eating slow. The second something doesn't feel right, don't take one more bite. I think we try to eat to fast when we are out to keep up with everyone else. If you only eat one bite and it's not going down then stop and have it packed to go. It took me a year to learn this. And yes, because I don't hide my band, I simply tell my dinner partner that my band doesn't want to eat just yet, so I'll finish later at home.
  14. Am I the only one on this board who can and does eat every thing - in moderation. As long as i take small bites, chew well and eat slowly, no food causes me a problem. I lost 90 lbs my first year by just eating less than I used to. You don't strech your pouch by eating Pasta and bread. Restriction is great because you're not hungry, so it's easier to eat less. I find I get good restriction after a fill and lose it as I lose weight and then I need another fill. If your doctor tried to add 1cc and you got stuck on Water I doubt that you have a leak, but as Dave said, check it out.

    Hair Loss

I take my vitamins and do 70 to 90 grams of protien every day and my hair thinned significantly. According to my nut, it's the trauma of the surgery and the rapid weigh loss - I lost really fast up front - about 3.5 lbs per week for about 3 months. I also had my gall bladder put three months after my lap band - another trauma to my system. I'm one year post op and have stopped losing hair. It should now start coming back in and I think it is. As I tell my hairdresser - I'd rather be bald then fat. BTW no one but the two of us even notice.

    PROGRAM FEES

Check out California Bariatric in Arcadia. No program fee and the doctors are great.
  17. My doctor puts me on a full liquid diet for two days after a fill. I've always followed that with no problem. Stay on liquids today and see what tomorrow brings. I almost did an unfil before my vacation because I was tight. Glad I didn't cuz I lost s couple of pounds while I was gone.
  18. I think it is frustrating reading this site when people complain about the results and don't follow the doctors orders. I was very strict wit myself and followed my doctors orders to a tee for the first four months. I lost weight from week one. I think you should follow YOUR doctors orders until you see how it works. Once you are losing weight steadily, you can tweak things to better suit your life style. If you decide you know better before even trying to follow the rules, I fear you doom your self to failure. Restriction is a very odd thing. I get a fill, have resrticton until I lose around 8 lbs and then it starts going away. I only do fills every two months, so I have to know what I can eat to at least maintain when I'm not as restricted as I would like. If you are only going to be happy in the green zone, your in for a rough ride. BTW, I have 2.9 cc's in a 10 cc band and have lost 90 lbs in s year. 30 to go to goal.
  19. Dr Lamar was my doctor. I think he is great. He's a really good surgeon and does his own fills. No nurse or PA. He is strict and you need to be willing to follow the program. I have had no complications. I had the surgery August 25 and am down 90 lbs. There is a support group that meets at Methodist Hospital the 4th Monday of the Month. You should try and attend.

    Medical tags

I got mine at Laurenshope.com. They're pricey but really cute. The best part is you can buy a lot of different bracelets to go with the one tag

    No restriction!

You need to redefine full. I'm not sure it's possible to feel "full" any more. What you will feel is not Hungary any more.

    Seminar

My BMI started at 42 last August and is now 28. I've list 92lbs and have very few weeks where I don't lose at least One pound. I can eat anything, just in small portions. For me, the band has been great. I need to lose another 30 lbs an my BMI will be well into the normal range. The band is what you make it. Work it and it works for you.
  23. I joined 24 Hour Fitness. I try to go every morning. I usually miss a couple of days a week. Basically if I don't have a morning appointment, I work out. I spend about 50 minutes doing my workout and it's a 10 minute drive each way. I have not had two weeks in a row where I failed to lose at least 1 pound since I began this journey on August 11, 2010. That was the day I started the two week liquid diet (pat on back - I never cheated). My surgery was August 25, 2010. You just have to take the "No Excuses" pledge. Believe me, it pays off. I also think this will be the only way to maintain my loss when I get there. I have finally accepted the fact that exercise MUST be a part of my life if I don't want to be fat.
  24. I was 254 lbs (BMI = 39.7) (271, BMI = 42.4 when I started the 2 week preop diet ) when I started at the gym - 6 days after surgery. You need to do weights, forget the cardio for now. Build muscle - that will speed up your metabalism My Doctor says that the people who are most successful are those who exercise. Don't allow yourself any excuses. i'm 56 years old - 55 when banded. I HATE to exercise. If I can do it, anyone can
  25. My doctor does fills every two months and I have lost weight since the beginning. At first I could eat a couple of cups of food at a meal. During this time you need to be very careful what you eat. A lot of lean protien and low surgar veggies whith al little starch. I only have 3 c's in an AP standard band and the green zone comes and goes. After a fill, I'm just right. As I lse weight, the band losens. For now eat until you are satisfied - just eat the right stuff. Be sure you hit the gym at leat four time a week. BTW, my survey was August 25, 2010 and I'm down 92 Lbs.
