You are right, I need to take ownership of what I eat. I am going to check out my fitness pal. Thanks so much!

I use it when I hit a plateau or notice myself picking up some bad habits. It is kind of like hitting the reset button for me! It gets me back to basics. Works everytime to put me back ont he right track! @bluetigereyes - google it!

Some weeks are slower than others. Try switching up your eating, laying off carbs upping your protein, that kick starts my weight loss when I am in a slump. I also say sometimes we all need to throw a fit. Go for it!

I am in the same boat! I have been off track with my eating since Dec. too. My plan is to start the 5 day pouch test Wed. I know we can get back on track! we have too! good luck!

My shoe size is down from an 11 to a 9.5 in less than a year! Have fun shoe shopping!!

It takes a awhile to get back to "normal". Give yourself time to heal. Get lots of rest and fluids. Take it one day at a time. I had to switch protein shakes a few times to find one I could handle. Try different kinds, sometimes you can buy sample packets. They really help to get your protien in and keep you feeling full longer. Good Luck to you!

Love that saying!! Great job! My family gatherings are always focused on food also and my biggest worry was feeling deprived. I've learned that it feels way better making good choices and getting the weight off. I don't feel deprived at all!

I love crablegs from Red Lobster! They are high protein low fat and take forever to eat, so you don't feel deprived. Also love scallops. I eat them at least 3 times a week. Quick and easy to make!! Stay away from the cheddar biscuits though! hehe!!

i'm so sorry you are going through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! stay strong!

Yeah it is not a fun feeling! I find that there are certain things that no matter how slow I go or how small my pieces are I get stuck on them anyway, like chicken breast. Also, sometimes my band is tighter around that time of the month, in the morning and when I am stressed. I just go slow and learn something new all the time! Good Luck!

Great news! I'm glad to see you are doing better. Best wishes for continued success!

That is so awesome! I was so excited when I was able to see the difference in myself in photos. It makes it so real. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Welcome! This site is a great resource. The lap band is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I wish you all the best on your journey!

Good Luck to you! I totally relate to everything in your post. I am now at the point where my life doesn't revolve around food anymore. I am 7 months out from surgery and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I feel great physically and emotionally. I truly wish you the best!

Sorry you have to go through that! I hate when people have to make some else feel bad in order to make themself feel better..Selfish Ignorant people suck!

It is unfortunate that a lot of the posts on here are negative but it is just people that are looking for tips, motivation or trying not to feel alone. There is a Lap Band Success Stories thread on here too! I tend to stick to that when I need some motivation. My experience with the band has been positive. Sometimes I get stuck at the same weight for a couple of weeks and I just keep at it until I see the scale move. If I look back over those times, I can usually see what I have done wrong - slacked on working out, made bad choices with food or just needed to switch up exercise and food choices. I know that is not everyone's experience though. I keep at it everyday -that is what the band has given me. Instead of giving up the band has been a great tool in allowing me to start over with good/healthy choices everyday! Keep positive and I'm sure you will do great!

That was so fun to read! I know exactly how you feel - I feel awesome too! About the bones, I "found" a bunch too! LOL! Good for you! You look fabulous!

1. Sometimes I can - sometimes not! Depends on how tight I am.
2. Mind didn't fade Everyone is different though!
3. I tell everyone that asks. I haven't had any negative feedback. (to my face anyway )
4. YES! Follow what your doctor says and exercise! You will do great!
5. I've read there is a low profile port - don't know too much about it though
6. I'm sorry to say that I can't do chicken breast. Again, everyone is different though. I eat a lot of seafood now.
7. I think so...my band limits the amount of food I can eat so I think it won't let me overeat and put the weight back. But you have keep up with your after care (fills, diet, exercise)
8. The alcohol will slow your weight loss. I count calories, so you could save your calories for it. I say whatever works for you
9. I started with centrum chewables and now take a regular multi vitamin. I have no problem swallowing any pills now.
10. I started out a 46 DDD and now am a 42 D. Unfortunately they are kind of saggy! YUCK! Oh well, I'll eventually have to get a boob job!
I have had a very positive experience. The exercise has helped me the most. Good for the mind, body and spirit! Good Luck to you!

I tell everyone. I don't have any problem with it. I have never had any negative feedback, not too my face anyway! I feel like it helps to keep me accountable as well.

I had to do a double take. I could've written this post 7 months ago. I think I cried for the first month after surgery. I felt EXACTLY the same way. I really felt like I lost my best friend. I thought what did I do to myself?Fast forward to 7 months later... I still enjoy food, although in a different way then before. My life has changed so much for the better. I get those "I'm missing out" moments once in a while but it passes quickly.
I'm glad to hear you are feeling better everyday. Hope tomorrow is the best yet. "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels."

Thanks everyone! i just went and got a fill today and found out I lost 8lbs this month! I was shocked. I've been an eating machine! I appreciate the comments. I wish you all the best!!!

I have done it several times. You would think I would learn and save half way through. I agree, super frustrating!!!
You are given instructions for a reason!

I agree. I remember reading a post when I first got banded that said "I am still able to eat 3 pieces of pizza, why?". Why on earth would you try to eat pizza? I can't imagine that being part of your post op diet. I had success at the beginning because I followed the instructions and now am gaining weight because I am not. Easy (or hard) as that!.
