1. Hello all, I've been experiencing constipation for my first week post op. I called the Dr. yesterday and they said I could take a laxative, so i did. It started to work on me pretty fast but you know it's always a task to make that first one (BM). LOL! Anyway, i manage to do so but i had to strain to get it done. Now I'm sore in the upper part of my stomach. I'm praying I didn't cause any damage to my band being that it has only been 1 week and 3 days since surgery. I am very scared!! Has anyone experienced this? I know I will make sure that will never happen again.
2. That is such a relief to hear. Smile! I was soooooo scared! Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I was in here freaking out. LOL!
3. I was hungry the day after the surgery. I'm a week post op and still on liquids. I just can't wait for solids to come. I am so tired of liquids. LOL!
4. I'm one week post op. I cannot use the bathroom easily. Do not want to strain but I think I would feel much better and relieved if I could use the bathroom. Has anyone experienced this your first week post op? Please advise. Miserable!

1 week post op ...... Constipation?

I feel pretty good. Just feel a little bloated (I guess) due to constipation. LOL! Other than that I've been healing great. Congratulations on your surgery! We are on our way.

Still not Hungry

I was banded on the 13th and as of right now I am only able to get 1/2 of my protein in and water. I do not feel hunger pains as of yet either. I guess that's a good thing. Smile! I too had to force myself to drink the shakes. But i'm noticing as the days go on I feel better and better. Hang in there.
8. I was recently banded on April 13, 2011. I'm so glad to finally be a bandster. I'm on the post op liquid diet and I find that I can't drink a whole shake. If I try I feel so miserable. I'm drinking half shakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner as of right now. I know I'm supposed to get a certain amount of proteins in so I'm a bit worried. Did anyone else experience this?
9. I'm 4 days post op and have yet to use the bathroom (No. 2). LOL! I'm having problems drinking the shakes but I am keeping myself hydrated. I hear everyone on here saying that they are having a problem with diarrhea (not that I want that) but I haven't gone at all. Is this a problem? I am doing No. 1 regularly but not No. 2. Sorry for this kind of question but I need to know if I should call my surgeon in the morning. Any comment would be appreciated.
10. @ saundrac. They only have me on the shakes, clear broth, sugar free Jello and/or any other zero calorie liquids. I can't wait til I can eat soup and cream of wheat. LOL! The gas is definitely passing! LOL! Thank you so much for your comment. Hey There, I was banded Tuesday morning. 10 days prior I was on a liquid diet. The only thing that I had been doing up to this morning is #1. Yesterday(Saturday) I had a small amount of liquid like cream of wheat and a serving of the 98%fat free cream of chicken soup with fat free lactaid. This ultimately led to a very small movement today. Talk about milestones. The cream of wheat and soup may have done it. You are okay. As long as the gas is passing and your are emptying the liquid to some degree you are good. Some have said that the more liquid that you take in or should I say SIP, the more likely you will pass solids. I am not an expert though. I am just sharing my experience from this week and I am still alive and kicking. My doctor's office confirmed that I was okay.
11. Oh okay. I guess I should be sending someone for some fiber gummies. LOL! I feel like if i go i would feel so much better. I'm drinking small quantities at a time but i always feel so full. I'm scared to go over 2 - 3 oz of anything. Thank you so much for your comment.

It is very normal. Same thing happened to me. I started taking two fiber gummies per day and now I am even more regular than I was pre-op.

Is this common?

I am currently drinking the Boost shakes so I'm not adding water.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I was getting a little concerned. I appreciate it.
13. I was just wondering if anyone experienced this. So, I'm on the two week liquid diet. I've been doing great so I thought. Went in to have my pre-admission testing and their scale read that I've only lost 5 pounds in 8 days. When I got home and weighed myself, according to my scale, I lost 9 pounds. When I got up this morning and weighed myself, I'm now down 14lbs. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. I feel like I've lost the 14lbs because I'm fitting in a few clothes that I couldn't fit previously. I'm just a bit concerned that when they weigh me, it may not be enough. I sure as hell do not want them to push my surgery back. I am soooooo ready to be a bandster. Any comments would be appreciated. Congratulations to all the bandsters out there and all the pre-bandsters who made the choice to live a better and healthier life!
14. I did not gain any weight. I am losing. I stuck to my dr.'s instructions to the tee. I was just wondering why his scale was different from mine on the same day. At the time I didn't think about the time of day and the fact that they weighed me fully clothed. I have hypertension so I do know about retaining water. Thank you for your comment. Smile!
15. @54Shirley You are absolutely right. This weigh in is driving me up the wall. Thanks for your comment. I'll go by the doctor's scale.
16. Thanks everyone. I was just so confused. LOL! Now that I remember I did have my shake and drank alot of Water before I got the hospital, plus they weighed me with my clothes on. I just don't want it to be any problems on Wednesday...My Big Day! Thanks again and Congrats on all of your success!
17. Hello everyone, My surgery is Wednesday, April 13th. I went for my pre-admission testing last week and according to their scale I only lost 5lbs. Earlier that morning my scale said 9lbs. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 14lbs but the hospital scale always read something different. I feel like I lost 14lbs because I'm fitting in clothes I previously couldn't fit. Did anyone else experience this? Your scale different from the doctors scale? LOL!
18. Hello, I'm being banded on this day as well. I'm a little nervous, not about the surgery itself but about the pain afterwards. Good Luck and Congratulations on starting a new beautiful and healthier life!
