Weds October 24th will be my 6 month post op day. Currently I am down 100 pds from surgery. I couldn't be happier with my results and my decision to have my sleeve surgery. I live life 100% normal, the only difference is I eat a LOT smaller portions than I use to. I have a friend who had bypass about 8 weeks before my surgery and he has had nothing but problems. So happy I choose the sleeve. If your thinking about the sleeve do it! So glad I did!

I'm 6 weeks post op and I have had a couple glasses of wine already. The main reason your told not to drink is because it's empty calories. I've had zero reactions and have not noticed a large decrease in my tolerance. I don't recommend anything carbonated though.

I'm about 3 weeks post op and this is happening to me all the time. I take meds daily for reflux so im not sure why I am still nauseated all the time. It gets worse as I eat, and I only eat a bit or 2 in one "meal." Hopefully some reflux meds work for you!

Help I Don't Want To Eat Or Drink
dreynolds05 replied to sperry71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't mind the powders pre-op. Post op was a totally different story. I hate them now! So needless to say im not even coming close to my protein intake as I am 8 days post op. Thank you for sharing the Isopure drinks. I will need to try them for sure. DPS Nutrition has them for $42 bucks for 12 bottles. Pricey yes but hopefully worth it. -
How Long Are You Out Of Work?
dreynolds05 replied to neeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was back to work 6 days post-op. I am a Financial Manager for a large law firm so its mainly desk work. I only went back 6 hrs a day for that first week but now I am back full time. The hardest part is that you are tired and weak from the lack of calories. -
Confused With Post Op Diet
dreynolds05 replied to urbandecayno5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 days out and started my puréed diet per my doctors instructions. I was on clears for one day and full liquids for a week. -
I'm now 5 days post op and feel great. Very little pain and and hardly ever hungry. I'm VERY bored with liquids and soups already. I have had a little chili and other things that's aren't in my diet until next week. Hopefully I'm not hurting anything, I feel fine and only take a couple bites and I'm done. I started at 322pds and was 308 day of surgery. Today I was 295. Down 13pds in 5 days!!!

dreynolds05 replied to dreynolds05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm excited to start purée as well! It's not so much because I'm craving thoses foods but because I want something to chew. I'm so sick of liquids! Lol -
I had surgery on 4/24 with a hiatal hernia repair. My surgeon didn't know about the hernia until he got into the surgery. He fixed everything while he was in there. I'm 24 6'3 and started at 325 pds. Day of surgery I was 315. I'm down to 305 only 4 days post op. My goal is 200-225ish.

1St Day Home From Hospital
dreynolds05 replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 days post op and first day home. I think it's easier to drink warm liquids rather than cold. Try some warm broth. Just keep sipping allday long. Never keep water more than an arm reach away. It's gets better everyday. -
Sitting waiting to go in. IV in and should go in to surgery in the next hour. Very nervous!!! I'll be on the losers bench soon!!

dreynolds05 replied to dreynolds05's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery in Saranac Lake NY by surgeon Michael Hill. Was a great experience. Everyone at the hospital was amazing. I am doing very well. I'm home and still taking pain meds but feel well. Trying to get my water in, it's hard to do at first but I just keep sipping! -

Surgery Tomorrow And Im Freaking Out Mentally.
dreynolds05 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have surgery tomorrow and im freaking out in the head about if im doing the right thing. I know its what I need for long term weight loss success. I guess im scared that Ill eat like a bird forever and be looked at differently and wont feel confident out at dinners with friends anymore. But obviously I am overweight because I abuse food and somewhat have an addiction to it. Breaking any addiction is hard, so I shouldnt expect this is be any different. Does anyone have any advice? Its hard to talk to people about it because I dont know anyone that has had it done. I dont have a lot of support and everyone keeps saying that Im not that big and dont need something this serious. Help! -

My new date is April 24th! How are you preparing for surgery? -
Hey guys! Its nice to see more men posting. I am a 24 year old guy that has my VSG approval for 11/3/11. Can anyone help me out with life post op? I am nervous about social settings, going out to dinner, going on dates? How does the sleeve's restriction affect any of these?

FLMA or Leave of Absence question?
dreynolds05 replied to StephanieG86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 7 vacation days that I had left plus the 4 weekend days and then I'm back to work. I told work that I'm having a surgery done and I will be totally unavailable for those days. I'm hoping this is enough time for me, if not I'm in trouble. I handle a lot at work, and there is no one cross trained to do my job, therefore I have a LOT of prep work to do to get ahead. -
I received my letter of approval today from BCBS Rochester! So happy and scared at the same time!

Just wanted to check in to see how you were feeling? Hows the first week to handle? I just got my approval today with an estimated Surgery date of Sept 30th!
