smilinggirl replied to nallygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate to the soup thing. I am day 2 pre-op diet and find the chicken broth smelly! Maybe because I got organic? Only a few more sleeps for you and then the big day! My day is March 15th. Best of luck Meloveme! -

I have never heard of single incision, please share more info. I thought it is generally 5-6 incisons. -

Surgery in 15 hours...but who's counting?! Please pump me up!
smilinggirl replied to Kerry82's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Best of luck to you Kerry. Remember the hardest part was coming to the final commitment of actually doing the surgery. Get a good rest, and remember, we are all here with you :P -
Banded in Mexico, where do u get your fills?
smilinggirl replied to marcybee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have made arrangements with a Dr. in Vancouver that works out of St. Paul's Hospital. What province do you live in? I am surprised your surgeon in Mexico didn't offer possible fill doctors. My surgeon requires a post-op Dr. prior to surgery. Best of luck to you! -
The Hamilton Beach travel blender is awesome! It is also quiet, so it doesn't disturb others in the house in the early AM I have to wake up at! Yes, very affordable at Walmart, gotta love that!

The realize band from J&J had a recent voluntary recall - something with about tubing. I believe no matter which one you choose will have pros and cons. The realize band is noted to have a smaller port(?) below the skin so it doesn't look noticeable after you have lost weight. Less slippage is always something to think about. Talk to your surgeon before you discount either band. I believe if you have a surgeon who is well experienced, you commit to stay on your post-op liquid diet properly, either band will be successful. Best of luck Sonny's Boy!

Is it okay to vent here? Not to scare anyone....
smilinggirl replied to slm2007's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally understand your vent. Yes, you are intitled to vent! I experienced this also with someone and I had to reply to stop with the negativity. I don't want to hear horror stories, I want someone to say "Good for you, you are finally doing something for yourself". For many years I catered to others, was concerned about what others thought. Even my career I have to put others first- that is the healthcare profession. I cannot afford to have another year of living worrying about others. I have taken the bull by the horns and have booked my surgery for next month and I am excited to start MY life! Best of luck to you. Remember, it is fine to choose to do something for yourself! Your child WILL benefit from you being a healthier role model. -

So very frustrated about the cost....
smilinggirl replied to REDsparkles11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I applied for a personal loan at my credit union here in Canada. I explained what it was for. Because I do have RRSP's with them and have shown good credit, I was able to get an unsecured loan over 3 years. I plan on paying it back sooner though. I too am travelling to Mexico for a more economical surgery and not having to wait a long period of time on a wait-list. -

I too am having my surgery March 15, 2011. I am going to Mexico for the surgery. I have to do my 2 weeks pre-op of liquids also. I am wondering if I should start earlier. I suppose I will start fresh, March 1st. I am counting down the days! -
