  1. So experiences of being "stuck" are different than what I keep reading. I'm assuming what I'm experiencing is being "stuck", but I'm not sure. I tried to eat a french fry b/c a friend of mine who is banded said she can't eat them. I tried chewing it really well and in a few moments I could feel this tightness in my chest and it felt like I was going to throw up. The only difference is, I never do. I never have anything come up. This has happened a couple of times now. I sit there and take deep breaths and after a few moments it goes away. Last night, I was laying in bed and I realized I forgot to take my medicine before i went to bed. So I just sat up in the bed and took the pill (it's small and I break it in half). I immediately felt a problem...just like being stuck. I couldn't lay down. I was so uncomfortable....miserable!!! The interesting thing for me is that I take pills during the day sometimes and have no problems. I'm assuming my problem was that I was not standing when I took the pill. This uncomfortable feeling seemed to last forever. I got on this website looking for a solution. I read where someone said to mix lemon juice and meat tenderizer and Water. So I did....it helped, about 30 min to an hour later. Valuable lesson learned about taking pills!!!!

    1st fill on Monday......

You read my mind!!! At this moment I keep thinking "what do I need to eat that I'll never have again?" That's the same thing I did before my surgery. I had several "last suppers". I'm dreading the fill because I"m going to be out of town and now I find out I'm going to be on liquids....its rough. Ok, so I'm being a little whiny right now!!!!
  3. Ok so I know this is not a Lap Band topic, but I'm looking for some help. I have RLS (aching, itching legs, muscle cramps, can't sleep, etc). I have been taking Mirapex for some time now. It seems to really help. But one of the side affects is weight gain. Since I started taking it, my appetite increased and I definitely did gain weight. Now since I"ve been banded, I'm afraid of taking it, but without it I can't sleep. I was wondering if anyone else suffered from RLS and could give me some advice on other medications or options. Thank you so much!!!

    1st fill on Monday......

Thanks for the info! So is the liquid diet for 2 days typical after a fill?
  5. What should I expect? I've been able to eat just about anything and everything I want for the past 2 weeks...which has NOT been good!!!! Old habits kicking in!!! Someone please tell me it will get better after the fill????
  6. Anyone ever used Syntha 6? I have a friend that's a huge health freak and he says this is the best protein shake on the market. Just wondered if anyone else had tried it.
  7. Thank you for your post Stratcat!! It was definitely worth reading!! I"m going through a lot of the same things right now!!! Thank you!!

I'm right there with you guys!! I was banded on 3/15 and I have had my doubts since then!!!! What the heck was I thinking?? Hang in there, it will get better......i hope!!!! Anyone got food ideas besides baked potatoes and mashed potatoes and cream of what!!! I'm so bored with that!!!!

2 Week Post Op Dr. Appt

Just had my appt. Little disappointed. I don't know what I was expecting though. The nurse weighed me, doctor looked at my incision's, and scheduled me for my first fill in about 4 weeks. I guess I wanted a "talk". You know...."how are you doing?" "Whats troubled you the most" "What can I help you with?" Maybe I need a psychiatrist for that lol. But, then again, I have all of YOU to help me with that!!!! lol

  11. Tomorrow is my two week post op doctor's appt. Can anyone give me insight on what to expect? Is it simply looking at my incisions? What have you all experienced?

    screwed up

Rachel....I was banded on 3/15. I was reading your post thinking.....omg, thats me!! I want a burger so bad. I want some pizza!!! I am almost to the point where I can eat soft foods...mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, pudding, etc. I can't wait. lol. I can't imagine eating puree'd chicken which is one of the things suggested. That sounds disgusting!! But, seriously, hang in there. As frustrating as it is, you will make it. I just try to stay busy and not watch tv because all commercials are about food!!! Even though I haven't had a fill, i haven't been as hungry as I would have been pre-band. I don't know why, but I don't. Hang in there Rachel.....this too shall pass!!!!

    Post-op Diet is Killing Me!!

Thank you all so much for the great advice. I go back to the Dr. for my first checkup on Monday. I may ask him about the possibility of speeding up the recovery process. lol. Lots of great idea's from you all as well.....thank you!!!
  14. I am only in week 2 of my 5 week post op diet. I don't know if I can make it 3 more weeks without eating "real food." I am so tired of chicken broth, puree'd potato Soup, gatorade, and cream of wheat. I'm really at a point where I'm regretting my decision to have surgery!! Not good in week 2 I know!!! I'm just so frustrated with the same thing every day. It seems like each day just drags by. I don't look forward to coming home and having a nice meal because I don't get to have one. I know when i see the weight coming off I will be glad I did it, but right now I feel like whining and complaining a little bit!! lol. I really am just frustrated with it all at this point and I needed to vent!! Thanks for listening!!
  15. So I posted a HELP message last night.......It took about 30 minutes of non-stop dry heaving for me to feel better. I was in tremendous pain. So now I need some help trying to figure out what might have caused it so it doesn't happen again!!!! I was banded on 3/15. So i'm in week 2 and I've been eating nothing but chicken broth. Last night I decided to try some egg drop Soup. I thought I was doing well with it, but I'm afraid that might be what caused it. Does anyone think that if I swallowed a piece of egg it would have caused that? I tried chewing them up, but I guess it's possible I didn't. Should I not eat egg drop soup at this stage of recovery? Any help or suggestions would be MORE than appreciated!! Last night really scared me!! Thank you!!
