Hi there! Welcome to the Jewels of June. I am being sleeved on June 6th! I started my shakes 1 1/2 weeks ago. I only use water to mix in mine. I add Crystal Light, Torani SF syrup and I found some SF syrups made for crushed ice treats. I really like Atkins RTD shakes but I don't think they will work during the clear liquid phase (not sure?!?!). I bought unjury and Syntrax nectar mix that go into water and taste ok. And I bought lots of Jell-O! LOL -
Date set for June 6; anxiety and jitters normal?!?!?!

MNB, Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! That is my date as well and nervous is an understatement. Many sleevers have been giving me wonderful advice though. They say to relax, think of the positive, acknowledge the complications but DON'T dwell on them and overall just try to prepare your mind and body for the change. You will do great!! Just learned the hard way that Soy Milk does not work in SF pudding mix.. it won't set! So I froze it - even better! Mmm

Good words of wisdom, thank you! I definitely have to be my own support system inside my house. I have many WLS friends outside home, IE work, net etc... that will be a great resource! And of course - VST! I love this board! I dont want to be one of those people that comes for pre op chat and never comes back. If you guys don't hear from me post op, somebody better call my hubby and find out what happened! LOL

And so my story really begins: I got my date June 6th! I suppose I made it seem like I would never get approved, but that was mostly fear. I was psyching myself up to be let down. Well guess what, no let down! I got my date and I started my 2 week pre op diet. Nothing left to stop me but myself. I am excited and scared. Wish me luck and I will keep you updated! Low carb pre op diet - and I can't stick to it!! I feel like a real failure. Today I had a salad and blew my carbs out the window with dressing.
Any tips? -
TKD, I am glad she is doing better. I am praying for you guys and her quick recovery. I have to admit, I am shaking right now. This is a very scary case of complications. I am glad you shared - even though it scares the heck out of me. Keep us posted.

Melissa, I am sure we are all pretty scared. I am like you and it hits me pretty hard at times. I have two beautiful little girls and I can't imagine .... oh just thinking about it makes me get goose bumps. I will send you lots of prayers. I have my surgery on June 6th and really hope to be here to cheer you on June 13th!!! We can do this... :grouphug: -
How many of you 2 month or more out are still on a PPI?

I was wondering this as well. My Dr did not mention doing a script for a PPI post op. He gave me 2 scripts (one for Gallbladder stones and one Foltex). I am wondering why no PPI now... hmm! Good question! -

My Special K Protein Water is my highlight LOL no Protein shake taste and kind of sweet. Some days I am wigging out, some days (like today) I am beaming with excitement!!! At least we all have each other to lean on!! I told my DH he should get me charm (or necklace) with a nice jewel on it - my surgery gift and Jewel of June award!! -

Syntrax Nectar taste test - Lemon Tea flavor. Ok not my fav but not bad. The color and smell were odd but the taste was ok (I added 1 Splenda). 23g of Protein and 0 carbs.. not bad!

Oh girl, temptation is everywhere!! Maybe you could buy some sugar free hard candies to have in case you get that urge again. The sad part is, most of us have to learn the hard way. I am sure it was not fun, but thank you for sharing. Maybe you can save one of us pre-sleevers from doing it. Hugs -

Hi Rekeca, I have been where you are. I was denied by TriCare and Kaiser because I so too low BMI and didn't have history of BMI (Kaiser). I think you should definitely proceed with the appeal letter. And if all else fails, you can self pay (pricey, I know). Day 4 pre op diet (of 18 - started early) Everything is going well. 2 shakes per day and 1 regular low carb meal. Tummy adjusting and headaches - but otherwise doing GREEEEAT!
