hey , i havent had surgery yet, but ive seen posts askin about regrets before... it seems like 99% of the people's only regret is not having it sooner

was just wondering people's general recovery time after surgery.. like how long till you were feeling "decent", and then when you could lift? im asking cause as im getting all of my insurance requirements down, im starting to worry about help around the house.im currently a stay at home mom, i have a 2 year old son, by the time i expect to have surgery he'll be almost 3, and hes currently 33 lbs, and very clingy half the time. i live at home with my mom, and boyfriend. both work full time though, and im not sure if either are going to be able to take vaca time to help with my son, i can get help after either of them gets home, and then on sundays when my bf has off.. but im worried about those other 3 days when im home alone with him from 9-7. im getting super concerned to the point that im scared im going to have to ditch the whole idea of surgery, or at least post pone it a few years till hes older to actually understand that mommy cant lift him right now.... so how long could everyone resume mostly normal activity? has anyone else on here had the sleeve and had a toddler at home? thanks so much

My suspicion about pre-op diets and surgeons
xxm4ndaaxx replied to crosswind's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
'That is why you can't stay overnight after a lap surgery. That's why they kick you out after 2 days when you have a c-section. " 2 days? i had one in 08 and i got stuck there 4 days, no complications or anything, that was the required stay.. 4 days csection, 2 days natural. -
hey, im about to get my 2nd weigh in for the medically supervised diet.. i was wondering if anyone knew if there was actual requirements on this... my first weigh in i had gained 9 lbs since last appt(which was about 3 mnths before), and i have this next one at the end of this week, and im pretty sure i stayed the same, if not gained... i thought i had been doing good, but my scale isnt moving, but i guess this is why im going through this whole process....im already terrified to go to this appt because my doctor is kind of a prick, he yells at me for being fat and says hes suprised im still alive, but he agreed to do the necessary paperwork to get this going. so, im already stressed about facing him, but i wanted to make sure i wasnt going to get denied by insurance for not losing anything. my bmi is 48, no other comorbidities, and my medical records have shown that ive been overweight pretty much my whole life. anyone else have trouble with the sueprvised diet, and stil get approved? someone make me feel better

3 month supervised diet
xxm4ndaaxx replied to xxm4ndaaxx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have horizon nj health, its one of the HMOs for nj medicaid. their requirements for WLS are fuzzy, theres nothing on their site, and ive called at least 6 times to find out different things, and noone there can get their story straight. the only reason i know that they cover it, and that its a 3 month diet, is from my surgeons receptionist. she has apparently dealt with them before. haha -
3 month supervised diet

believe me, if i wasnt afraid of causing issues with the insurance, i would be changing doctors in a heartbeat, and i intend on it as soon as i get a surgery date haha. unfortunatly my *** chose him for me, so maybe ill wait until after surgery to deal with that so i dont piss off my insurance :-p thanks for the advice on the diet. that would really suck if i went thru all that and ended up being denied just because i lost a bit of weight on my own. lol -
egg burps? kind of off-topic, but didnt know where to post
xxm4ndaaxx posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i havent had surgery yet, im in the midst of all the insurance requirements...and the past few days ive been having what i call "egg burps", i have frequent little burps (nothing loud and obnoxious) that smell and taste like rotten eggs or sulfur.:yuck: ive gotten it before, but it cleared withing a few hours, this is the longest its stuck around, and its making me feel ill now. no stomach pains or anything other then the naseus feeling that is just starting to come on.. was just wondering if anyone else has gotten this..and any suggestions on what it could be/or some remedys? if it doesnt settle down by tues im making an appointment(doc is closed on mondays)..but i really dont want to go see him, hes a mean old man that yells at me for being obese, and everytime im there i leave feeling like crap. thanks -

hi! im amanda. i am 23, live in southern new jersey. i have a 2 year old son, and a fiance that is an alcoholic. ive been severely overweight most of my life, in 5th grade i was 160.. and by 9th grade i was 225. i jumped up and down a lot in highschool, but mostly stayed in the same weight range. after graduation, i gained a bunch of weight, and ended up about 270. went on a massive diet, and got back down to 215... then i got pregnant. at 9mos pregnant i weighed 232lbs... i currently weigh in at 290lbs. my all time high at this point....ive spent the last 2 years contemplating WLS. im not so much of a sweet eater, i just have an insatiable appetite. i was originally going to go with the lapband, but after a lot of research on there i was second guessing that decision, it seemed pretty unreliable with a lot of complications...i went to my first consult with dr wasser, and he suggested the sleeve. ive done my research, and ive officially decided on VSG, so now im working on the insurance requirements, im in the midst of my 3month diet, have a cardio appt monday, and then a pulmonary and psych eval later in march.. im hoping to have surgery in may or june :-D im super excited to be starting this journey, and being on the way to a healthier (and better looking ) me!!

call the company.. theyll tell you if they do or not, and any requirments they have. people kept telling me mine wouldnt cover it, and after weeks of stressing over it, i finally called and found out that they did indeed cover it 100%. i wish i would have just called sooner.

just got done calling around getting ready for my consult next week. and i have a list of the requirements that they have. so i figured id post them if anyone needed this information, referral from pcp 3 month supervised diet (3 consecutive months of weigh-ins) cardio, pulmonary, psyc evals 1 meeting with nutritionist(not covered by insurance, the person im seeing is 60$) bloodwork those are the basics, your surgeon might call for more testing based on their requirements, but i see alot of people posting looking for insurance info so i posted what i found out

Anyone get the lapband thru Horizon NJ Health?
xxm4ndaaxx replied to MISS.SUSAN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
since the post is older, i was wondering how it went with horizon nj health? i just started the process thru them, same HMO and everything. they say they cover the lapband, but i was wondering- if you were succesful with them, if it actually did cover anything? ive had nothing but issues with horizon so im kinda assuming this is going to be a long, aggrivating process. haha. thankss
