I Am Constantly Getting Stuck!!!! I'm Miserable!
KrisH1070 commented on Nicole Sikes's blog entry in nsikes' Blog
I had my surgery in May 2011 and I have lost about 58lbs but I have the same issues day in and day out. I am always "stuck" after a few bites. They drained my band down to 2 ccs from 6ccs and I also had the spams and was on medication to relax my esophogus. I just recently had a upper GI this week to rule out any issues. The Dr now wants to drain my band completely to see if I can eat and start to lose weight again. I also live on scrambled and greek yogur amd protein shakest and If I do try to eat anything it has to be drowned in fat free salad dressing in order for it to go down. I am discouraged at this moment but would not give back those 58 lbs for nothing! I need to lose about 55 more lbs! -

I'm surprised your Dr didnt tell you not to chew gum. I am also a gum chewer or used to be .I was banded on May 16th and My Surgeon said no more gum ever!. They said it puts air in your pouch. Be Careful! Don't want you to have any issues! : )) Good luck with your recovery!

I was banded on May 16th and yesterday 05/19/11 I ended up in the ER per my surgeon. I was dehydrated and very sick to my stomach. They kept me there for a few hours and gave me some IV's to rehydrate me. They also gave me some naseau meds. I felt good when I left there. Although when I came home I still cant seem to get anything in. I managed to get 1/2 cup chicken broth and about 6 oz of crystal light in through out the day. Im too full and the gas in my belly is awful. I have no cravings for food and the liquid diet is just fine with me for now . But trying to jam in the amount of fluids they want me to take in seems impossible. I do not want to end up back in the ER. Any one else having these issues? I'm so tired all I wanna do is sleep. I know once I get through this stage things will get better. I'm walking constantly to get relief from all the gas in my belly. I had no gas pains till the 3rd day after surgery. Also everytime I sip I get the pains in between my shoulder blades, which they say is gas pains? I can not burp as it hurts like hell and the hiccups are horrible! Anyone else have this happen to them? Also the scale is very discouraging to me. I came home weighing 7 lbs more than the day of my surgery. My Dr says its from all the gas and IV's. I hope so. I'm taking in less than 200 calories a day at the moment.

Well I am officially banded as of Monday 05/16/11. I got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon. I'm feeling good, although having a hard time trying to get in all this liquid diet. The hospital I had it done at was wonderful and the nurses were excellent! I also love my Dr she is awesome. If anyone lives in Massachusetts I recomend Lowell General and Dr. Shore. Now I'm hoping I heal up quickly. Using my pain meds and walking as much as I can around the house. I'm staying off the scale this week. The Dr already warned me with all the IV's you gete and the gas they use makes you gain. She told me to wait till next week. Other than all that I feel pretty good and am so excited to see this weight go away with the help of my new "tool". Good luck to all you other banders! I love reading al the blogs!

I finally got my surgery date today! I'll be banded in May 16th. I'm excited and real nervous. I have 5 lbs more to lose before surgery. Nervous I won't make it. Going to the gym 4 times a week, measuring all my food and drinking a protein shake for one meal replacement. I was advised today to replace it for two meals to drop that last stubborn 5lbs. I'm real excited and cant not wait but also on the other hand went to a support class the other night and was told all about the doom and gloom part of being banded, what could go wrong. I have met 5 people that have had the lap band and had to have them removed. So that makes me nervous. I do know that everyone is different. I just hope I can do this and pray I dont have any issues like that.
