Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Spot replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Good nose indeed, LD! I've been reading all your replies... just not very motivated to post. I guess I'm in sort of a funk. I'll get out of it in a week or so... surely. I'm still waiting to sign papers. Hopefully Thursday. Once that is done, I'll buy the airline tickets. Even though I can get the $38 round trip, I'm not buying them until the refinance papers are signed. I can't wait to get the tickets, buy the hotel and car rental and to finish up buying all those things I'll need post-op. I did get the liquid Tylenol and the Flintstone Vitamins so far, lol. Oh, and tons of broth. I love broth... I'm going to do good on the liquid diet, I know it (are those famous last words?)! -
21. So I will be willing to have my picture taken again.

Shesha, thanks for the information. I'm born, bred and still currently in the Seattle area. My husband grew up around Menomonie (Wheeler to be exact, I think). So the time has come for us to move there and be a part of his family's lives. The last time I was there (we go every year), I drove out to Wausau to meet up with several of my baby message board friends. LOL, the last time we went to Wisconsin, we went to the Mall of America. I was so livid that for all these years of going to the "kick'n" town of Menomonie, some of which we drove to from Seattle and right past the MOA, that we hadn't gone there before. Ugh, lol. Heck, even if we didn't drive to Wisconsin and past the MOA, it still was right across the damn street from the airport we used! I suppose deep fried cheese curds won't be something I'll be able to enjoy with the Lap Band, eh? lol -

Shesha, that doctor sounds like an arse for sure. Where abouts in Wisconsin do you live and do you know of any fill doctors in the Menomonie, WI area? Maybe Minneapolis there's a better chance in finding one (I'm moving to WI next year). -

You live in Colorado, right Lap Dancer? -
I see that! Very cool! I need to stop going nuts, eating everything in sight at the moment. I want to start the Atkins now but I don't have but a small, baby fridge at the moment. Ours went out last month and since we were told the refinance was going to be done back then and every week since then, we have just been waiting for that so we can buy a nice fridge. If I would of known it was going to be this long, I would of saved a bit and got the fridge on my own or bought a el cheapo model at least. Anyhow, point of my ramblings is that I can't really start my pre-op Atkins diet early if I don't have a freaking fridge. Or is that just an excuse. It probably is.

Lap Dancer... I hope you find out that other's are going through what you're going through. That is just odd you've got the sniffin' superpowers! Sheesha, have you checked out priceline.com? I can get round trip tickets to Colorado from Seattle for $38 total. What I did was say that I was only willing to pay $10 per round trip ticket and I'll be damned if it doesn't accept my offer, every time. -
Nimble... I can't find the good reputation button! You so deserve it too! Nice chart and I hope it kept you occupied like you needed it to, lol. Thanks to all those who are sharing their pre-op diets. As for me, I must do a low carb/high Protein type of diet for 10 days. I'm very experienced with Atkins (as many of you probably are too) so this won't be too hard.

Hello, I've dropped in on this thread once or twice before. Now that I've got a date, I'm going to do better with sticking around, lol. My name is Jenna and I'm up here in Stanwood. I'll be going to Colorado for my surgery on May 22nd. I heard that there is a good fill doctor really close to me in Arlington. If anybody has any experience with them, I'd love to hear about it. I have been using Priceline a lot, naming my own price for round trip tickets to Denver and the always accept $10, lol. So a total of $38 all together with taxes, then whatever for the taxi to the doctor in Colorado and maybe a hotel room... it's cheaper to just go to him for the free fills, lol. Cheaper but not more convenient then driving a few miles to Arlington. Anyhow, that's my story and I'm stickin' too it.

Wheetsin's definitive thread on Reputation and Rep Power

Well, let me confirm it then. If you don't have rep, you don't see anything about rep in the control panel, lol. Thanks for telling me where it is! -

May 8th, eh? That's too bad. I was hoping it would fall on a day that I was going to be down there. Thanks for calling and posting that DrewsLou. Maybe some other time I'll make sure I schedule myself for a fill around meeting time. -

I did sort of a skim on this thread so forgive me if I missed it. Where can we see the comments and rep others gave us? I know on a board I used to belong to a year ago or so, we could see who gave us what and their comments. Maybe it's just because nobody has been spreading the love to me but I can't see anything I could click on to check this. Thanks! -
Fluffy, I'm sorry to hear about your date being pushed back. I too had mine pushed back (home refinance not as timely as planned) from the 9th to the 22nd. I'm also a Leo and I didn't know that means we're impatient but it sure explains a whole lot about me, lol!

DynamoMini, thanks for your kind words! When is this May meeting? I wonder if I'll be there? -
I'm sending good and second request approval thoughts your way. I'm sorry you got such awful news... hopefully it'll just become a minor speed bump on your way to bandom.

Due to a slow refinance, I had to reschedule my surgery. Instead of May 9th, I'm now May 22nd. Hopefully I'll get the money in hand early and be able to get in right away. I'm going to start my pre-op diet the same time I was supposed to for the May 9th surgery. I only have to do Atkins and I'm an old pro at that diet. I'm not nearly as nervous about this surgery than my 3 c-sections. However, the needle is what gets me. I had to be somewhat forced to have my second and third epidural/spinals (the first child I was in so much labor pain at the time, I would of taken a chainsaw to the spine, willingly, so long as it took the pain away). If I could go back in time, I wouldn't of looked. I found that interesting video and more on YouTube.com.

Thanks Woofay. And yes, the stuff they need for a refinance is awful. We even had to have some work done to our foundation before anyone would even touch us. We started this whole process back in the beginning of February and back then, the mortgage guy said it'd take less than a month to complete. Argh! I just got off the phone with the mortgage guy though and he has the well guy coming tomorrow and he says the water reports come in quick... so who knows, I might be able to see about getting the surgery bumped up again. I'm not holding my breath though, the guy's educated guessing has already been proven to be about 2 months off, lol. -

Okay, well my mortgage guy called and said they needed a well water bacteria and flow test/inspection done. So with that recent development, I swallowed hard and called Marilynn and told her what was up. She understood and wasn't upset at all that I was going to need to reschedule so close to my surgery date. She offered me a date a week later but I went for May 22nd. She also said that if I need to postpone further, that'd still be no problem. Woofay, that's good to know that they might be able to accept payment later than 10 days before surgery. Maybe, by the grace of God I get my money before the 9th and they still have the opening, I'll see about sneaking in. I really hope to go earlier than the 22nd... it's killing me to wait longer. I'm just going to start the pre-op diet (doctor said Atkins will work beautifully) when I was originally, just in case I can get in early. I'm an old pro at Atkins anyway, lol. *sigh* I'm bummed. I'm off to go turn in my well sample and later, I guess, change my ticker *sniff* . -
Aaah, stop with the Bill and Ted! LOL I just saw a video of someone getting a fill. I'm now all anxious, thinking I'd never be able to go through with it. Ugh. But seeing sleepyjean's ticker will keep me courageous for today. I want what she has, very very badly.

But if I don't call in the next day or two and have them change my date, someone won't be able to jump right in and take my spot. 10-14 days of low carb diet needs to be established... I'm at 15 days until surgery. I know I'll have the money... but then again, I knew I'd have it by now and I don't. We're just waiting on signing the final papers for our home refinance and they were supposed to be in and signed yesterday. If they come in tomorrow and I can get my husband out of work to sign them, then the check will be cut on Monday, the day payment is to be in. Thursday he has off and the paperwork will be in by then but that puts me at receiving the check on Tuesday. I feel awful. -
I'm a size 20 now but wish to be a size 1 or 2. Do they even make a size 1? Realistically, my goal will be a size 6 or less. But I'm not sure if the left over skin I think I will have will allow me to be that size.

I scheduled my surgery well past the day I should of gotten the money for it. Now, I'm due to have the money a day later than when Dr. Kirshenbaum's office wants it. I'm scared I'm going to lose my date. I'm scared that if I call them and tell them this, they'll be mad. In reality, they're probably okay with the payment being a day late. I just didn't mean to jerk them around like this. I want this so bad... I don't want to wait longer. -
Nothing to add really... just want to see my ticker and say "hi". I am curious as to what everyone was told to do for their pre-op diet.
