Despite how you may feel about being single now, just think of how neat dating will be when you're a skinny bitch, lol. About the horse story - I'm mortified for you and mortified at myself as I'm over that weight. See, I like to be ignorant of exactly how fat I am, to only be put into shock and horror when I see a picture of myself, etc. This story was like a picture of myself just now. Yikes, I'm so glad to have finally be doing this. I, too, have considered this for a long time. Yay for all our positive life changes coming this month!

I remember reading up on that place when first thinking about having this procedure done. Everett is definitely my old stomping grounds! Yes, you have quite the drive!

9 months and 100 pounds later... what I've learned.

I'm literally jealous. Literally. -
I'd like to add what my doctor said about crushing pills. Make sure they're crushed-crushed with no sharp edges because if that were to poke you in your restricted area, you're going to wish you were never born, etc. I haven't verified as I am pre-op, and surely your results will vary. The amount of medication you're taking is alarming. Not in amount... well, yes in amount but surely you have reasons, lol. What I mean is, you're probably going to need to insist your doctor and pharmacist check to see if you can crush or break open some of your meds, or if there are alternatives. I imagine it would take more applesauce than your banded stomach could handle, should you go that route. I look forward to reading the responses you get. The thought of eating my pills makes me ill.

Having Surgery while having your "Monthly"?
Spot replied to SDTeaGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure there's some sort of "No Tampon" rule, but I'd disobey it and just cross my fingers that there wasn't any urgent business being done in my girl hole while I'm under, lol. I'd also tuck that string in, lol. Bad advice? I got plenty! -
Oh, I see in another post you said Wenatchee. That's definitely not my neck of the woods in WA, lol. Of course I've been there quite a few times though. Another thing, you said in the GTKY thread that you're having ticker problems. Here's a thread that might help you... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/16043-how-to-get-a-ticker-in-your-signature/page__hl__ticker+help

Hi kkf1979! I am going to have problems with this, too. With a husband and three growing boys, I've gotten in the habit of eating fast because if I didn't, I might not get a second helping, lol. My doctor suggested I practice eating slowly during my pre-op diet and, well, I never remember. Me thinks I'll have to suffer some consequences before I get the chewing thing right. Actually, I lie. Since I'm on an Atikins-like pre-op diet, I bought some peanuts and have been eating them one-by-one, slowly. Not so much to practice eating slowly, but so my treat lasts longer as I can't have too many or I'll eat too many carbs. They should give us pre-surgery shock collars to help us train better, lol.

Hi Brenda! I grew up in WA and only moved away 3 years ago. I hailed from the N. Snohomish County area! Where are you having your procedure? I'm a traveling patient also; coming from Wisconsin to Colorado. Of course I'm not a doctor, but I think you'll be fine driving on the 8th. The question is whether or not you're messed up on pain meds, I think.

Good to hear! Thanks for giving me the skinny on what goes down at the pre-op! Laxatives, huh? Not something a person with urgency issues wants to hear, lol. However, with this pre-op diet we're doing, things have definitely stopped, um, moving so easily. So maybe the laxative thing won't be as bad as I'm thinking it might me. I might get some of that today (like you, NOT the butt kind, lol) and see how it all works out and such, lol. Sounds like I should probably pick up some yeast infection treatment since we're going to take antibiotics. So the medications are all liquids?

OOoooh! You know I'm interested in your pre-op as we have the same doctor. I was just going through all my information and getting it all sorted out in preparation of the trip/surgery. My pre-op is on your surgery day - I'm going to tell him that the person he fixed up earlier in the day was my friend . What were the three prescriptions he gave you (I want to look them up because I'm weird)? Is the picture thing something they do normally? I'm flying the very next day, lol. Two hour flight won't be too bad. Plus, I'll have my husband to do the lifting for me. And about the hiatal hernia thing - awesome!

Hello EastEndMTBr! Yay for another April 6th bander! My pre-op diet is going well. Fortunately, I have quite an easy diet to follow and just have to do the Atkins diet. Lots of temptation, but I'm overcoming it. I just wrapped up and bunch of candy for a baby shower I'm hosting and managed to not slip even the tiniest bit in my mouth! Hello tmw41! I hear you on this. I am prepared to have a panic attack of sorts after surgery. With my last surgery, I had the big OATS thing done on my ankle which involved the doctor breaking it and months of crutches. I started to panic, thinking about how I can't go back (and that cast is stuck to me and I can't get it off), yadda yadda yadda. Hi emptyNest! I agree! I hope we become quite an active board, too! I know there's a lot of people on this entire message board that we can gain help and support from, but I think there's a little something extra special about getting familiar and friendly with those who are starting their new lives at the same time.

Oh my, I'm impressed! And how awesome that you're already on board with the exercise bit, and love to do it! You're going to lose so much with this Lapband! I know the vegan community is great at helping each other with meal ideas. Perhaps, if you're not already, connect with a bunch of like minded eaters on FB and pick their brains for meal ideas?

"Taxatuchetts" Bwaahahhahahah!

Hi TerriF! Yah, I'd love to not have my shorts ride up, too! And like others, it's been a while since I've crossed my legs. And clothes shopping... maybe I'll buy some girl shirts when I get smaller. Currently, I wear mens 2x plain t-shirts because they're wide enough to go around my gut without showing my rolls, and hangs down long enough to cover my rolls! I informed my husband last night that when I hit my 130 goal, I'm going to get my skin fixed and my boobs perky. Of course he was on board with that .
-
I am in an almost similar situation. I'm hosting my sister in-law's baby shower two weeks post-op. I will have to tell everybody that I'm on a liquid diet, or something, as I won't be eating any of the fancy two-tiered cake I made, or any of the food I laid out for everybody, lol. Fortunately, we won't all be seated down restaurant style, and as host, I can serve or clean up while people eat and probably get by without anybody noticing I'm not touching anything .

Congratulations!

I went to EvCC too! For almost 2 years, lol. I just learned that some people, who live near Massachusetts, call people from Massachusetts "Massholes". I laughed out loud when I read that. What a funny play on a state name, lol. Yes, staying alive for your family is great reason. My father dying on me and my children has been the worst thing in the world for me, and I don't want to put my children through such heartbreak. He wasn't very overweight at all, but still died because he took such lousy care of himself.

Everett you say? That's exactly my old stomping grounds! I've lived in several cities nearby, but in Everett I lived near the mall, and in North Everett!

Congrats on the great compliment! You must feel like a million bucks!
