    NSV

I bought myself my first REAL bike (read: cost more than $125 and isn't a pile of shhhhh...) a couple days ago and am going to ride it to my PO Box every mail day. Well, today was the first day. I almost made the "it's too hot" excuse, but I sucked it up and did it anyway. I figure if 80 is too hot for me, here in the Midwest, I'll never get out and bike. Plus, I could always go in the morning when it's not so hot. Anyhow, it's 2.3 miles away from home (so 4.6 miles total) and I'm thinking that I need to at least DOUBLE that length somehow next time. It was so fun that I think I might go back out and ride after typing this. Yes, in the "too hot" weather, lol.

    2nd Fill

The first 3-4 days after my 2nd fill, I was bringing back up my food about every other meal. The last couple days have finally been much better. I've read that some others have had problems with eggs... it very well could just be the eggs.

Whoops, I didn't realize we already had a thread like this going. Let me put my victory here then! I can cross me legs again!

How long were you on mushies?

There seems to be at least two different ways I see doctors giving fills, and I seem to really like how my doctor did mine as compared to many of the others. He puts the needle in and has us sit up with it there. He puts in X amount to start and then has us drink water. If we feel it is no different than before the fill, he puts in more. If it's still the same, he puts in more. He puts enough in to where the water actually backs up in your pouch. You can feel it, and it's uncomfortable. He then knows that you are too tight, and then takes like .2 ccs out. He takes that amount out until we feel our swallows of water go down again without any problem. After that, he puts that last amount back in and out again, just to make sure we're feeling the water go down right. My first fill, I was unsure of what to "feel" and said I felt the water getting jammed up when I really didn't. I just kinda thought I might have felt something. When he'd ask if I felt a difference, I started to just say yes or no based on, I guess my imagination, lol. I say that because with my second fill, I truly felt it. The water being held up in the pouch was a very real, uncomfortable feeling. The band being unfilled, and the water I drank being passed through without issue, was a much different feeling. My doctor has me do non-hot liquids the rest of the day, mushies the next and you can progress back to solids whenever you can tolerate it. As for puking your food back up (PBing), it's really not a horrible experience. It's not fun, but it's not like puking. It's weird, but much more tolerable in my opinion. Good luck with your fill. I feel your fill amount should be unique to you, not a predetermined amount. I have had two fills and I'm sitting at 6ccs and some change in a 10cc band.
  5. Whoops, I replied to the wrong thread. Don't ask me how that happens, lol.

    Accomplished Goals

Yay for us! Anybody else have something awesome happen? Pants too big? Mine are hanging and I'm digging into my "too small clothes". I can't wait until all those clothes get too big, too.
  8. I had something similar happen. The day after my surgery, I was admitted into the hospital for a few days with some gnarly post-operative nausea. My BMI was probably 41 at the time and my nurse said "you don't look like you needed this surgery". Sure, she probably was trying to be nice or something, but I had just paid $10k, went through the surgery, and was suffering in the hospital because of it, and here this nurse was telling me it was all unneeded? Granted, I was pretty worn out, sick and bitchy at the time, but the question kinda ticked me off. I replied that I had the surgery because of my ankle (It's just about ready to be fused), but I had been seriously thinking about this surgery for about two years before my ankle issues came about. I wanted the surgery because I felt horrible about myself. I have endured decades of feeling horrible about myself, and it has only gotten worse and worse. I didn't want my BMI any higher.

    2nd Fill

I really hope that doesn't happen to me! Stay, fill, stay! Camping was fun. I did PB two times while there, but was able to eat small amounts of everything (other than those two PB meals, I suppose, lol). I did a lot of physical exercise, too.

    2nd Fill

Geez, eating is a chore. I sure wasn't doing a good job of practicing eating slow and well, because I'm having a helluva time of it now. That's okay, having things get stuck is GREAT motivation. On the positive side, the scale is finally moving again. Yay!

    Hours after first fill

Oh gosh, how scary. I hope you had an okay night last night, and are in the doctor's office getting it fixed right now! I had a large first fill also, but my doctor has me take a drink of Water with every half cc or so until the water hangs up and I'm over filled. Then he backs off 1/10th cc at a time until the water passes freely again. Once it does, he takes out another 1/10th. I don't know... it's a whole big process.

    2nd Fill

I think this 2nd fill is going to do the trick. I tried some more solid food yesterday and got stuck after just a couple bites. I probably didn't chew well enough or slow enough, as I really haven't had to worry about either of those things until now. Or, I guess it could be that I'm still swollen from the fill. Whatever it is, I hope I figure it out or unswell soon because I'm going camping tomorrow and have the best meals planned to make on my grill while we're there. I don't want to a) cook yummy food I can't eat more than one bite of and have anybody notice I slaved over a hot grill for hours, yet am only drinking my Walmart brand weight loss shakes (I swear that the Equate Strawberries & Cream in a can is the best flavor of all weight loss shakes, ever. Not too thick, either) and odd little mushies.
  14. Well, I asked him about it yesterday and he said "no", he doesn't tattoo anybody, lol. He thinks its a needle mark from my previous fill. We'll see. I got yesterday's fill needle mark (that's a cm away from the blue dot) to compare it to now, lol.

    Eating out

I haven't been gutsy enough to use my card, but I almost did once. Yep, this post pretty much solidifies my fears! LOL I have the card that came with my band, and a card from my doctor.
  16. Here's an odd question. Where Dr. K put the needle for your fill, do you happen to have a very small, bluish colored dot? I noticed this dot as a very small scab after surgery. I remember wondering about it. Since the pin sized scab healed, I noticed its slightly blue and exactly like a tattoo. I don't know if this was intentional, or somehow accidental, lol

I'm doing fine with chicken, too. Not that I want any issues with eating the "problem foods" or anything, but I sorta feel like I *should* be having problems of some sort.

    1st fill

I know, huh? I kept my eyes closed and he was all like "why are your eyes closed" and I said something like "so I don't see the nightmare sticking out of my belly".
  23. So, I thought this was interesting. I just went through airport security and got to go into the controverial screening x-ray machine doohicky. After it was done, I had to wait longer than the other folks going through, and then a TSA officer patted me down, just in the front of the bra area belly area. I'm thinking that, along with my tampon, the TSA screening x-ray machine doohicky lookers saw the band and thought it suspicious (tampon made it through without any special pat downs), considering they didn't pat me down anywhere else. Anybody have this happen to them?
  24. It was alright. I was a bit weirded out by having a huge syringe sticking out of me while I took drinks of Water, but I survived, lol. I'm taking it pretty easy, food wise, so I'm not sure if my first fill is going to be enough for me or not.
