  1. My husband was banded on Feb 28 after losing almost 25 lbs on the pre-op diet. He lost approx. 15 lbs the first 2 weeks after surgery on the liquid diet -- we were sipping liquids, doing protein shakes, and having soup for dinner. Not much exciting there. He essentially skipped the purees and went straight to some mushy food, but is now on soft solids - such as fish, potatoes, etc. He's been walking everyday and we even went on a hike this past weekend. The problem though, is that the scales haven't moved at all since he came off of liquids. Has anyone else experienced this stall? We're watching portions and while we're not pureeing his food, he's really not eating much besides grilled fish and low-fat sliced turkey with some veggie on the side. He goes for his first fill in 2 weeks, so we're hoping that will get him back on track and we'll see the loss start back up. His doctor didn't tell us how much loss to expect in the 6 weeks post-op but pre-fill so we don't really know what to expect --- but we definitely didn't expect the loss to stop as soon as we stopped liquids. Anyone who can share experiences, advice, etc. would be a great help! Thanks and good luck to everyone in their journey!
  2. My husband was banded on Monday (today is Wednesday). He has had very little pain at the site of incisions, but has been experiencing pain in his chest that he describes as 'a shooting pain that comes from an air bubble that is stuck in his chest.' He says the pain gives him the urge to straighten out his back to try to help release the pain - and after a few seconds the pain eases out. I've seen other posts that refer to not being able to burp and he says it is kind of borderline with that feeling, but he doesn't always have the sensation to burp when this happens. It seems worse when he first lays down, stands up, sits down, etc.; although it doesn't happen everytime he does one of those things. Another major trigger is that he feels it pretty much everytime he swallows. Has anyone else had this? How long did it take you to improve? Please help! Thanks!
  3. Hi, all! I'm brand new to this site and I'm the wife of a wonderful man who is having lapband surgery on Feb 28th. Anyone on here a patient of Dr. Lucktong's in Roanoke? I would love to talk to others who have been through lapband with Dr. Lucktong or even spouses of those who have. I'm very excited for my husband and I to both get healthier after the surgery, but hope I can keep up with all the different phases and what he can have when. We've not yet been able to make it to the support group in Roanoke, but hope to start that with the next one coming up in a few weeks. Anyone out there?
