Babs was your esophageal dilation caused by overeating?
-
Cind<FONT size=4>y C. Not really. I only defeated myself. I felt bad after I ate it. So actually they won. I have asked for the earliest appt. I'm supposed to have it when I return in Sept. 2011. It's at 2:30

I'm glad to know that there is an alternative. I was banded in April 2011. I returned for a follow up visit with the doctor and each time I go there is an office FULL of patients. What's the use of having an appointment when 5 other people have the same appt. During my follow up visit I waited over an hour in the exam room before the Dr. got to me. This isn't counting the time I was in the waiting room. I learned after my first visit that he (Dr.) not only does bariatric surgery but other surgeries also. When I went back for my 1st fill, there were people actually standing, the office was so full. I went back last week for my 2nd fill, same thing. My 3:20 appt. was over around 5:30. I felt I might be too tight because of symptoms I was having. I asked to come back. My appt. was at 2:30. At 3:00 the secretary came out and said the Dr. had to perform emergency surgery and wouldn't be back in the office until 4:30. 4:30 would probably be closer to 5:30. She said we could run errands and come back or sit and wait. Plus this means I've got to wait with what's probably a group coming in later. So once again there's a patient load packed to the ceiling. I told them to cancel me and that I would call back since I needed to check my calendar. I left the office bought fast food, fried chicken strips, fries and sweet tea. Ate it all. I guess I'm not too tight after all.

what does it feel like when your food get's stuck
rrr replied to fatgirlnomore7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Got filled on Thurs. Had my first stuck food a little while ago. Went outside and walked around the block. Didn't even lock the door. Threw up slime in a couple neighbors yards. Thank goodness it's dark. It feels like something is in my back. I began to salivate and felt nauseous. Had the salty taste I get when I feel like I'm going to puke. BTW what's PB? -
ROTF! OMG I'M GONNA GET SOME" Ain't that the truth. FOund this to be true in my early years. And you'll get more "booty calls" when he's desperate. Just don't expect a true relationship.

I can't really say I know how you feel. I'm in my 50's . Although I have to say if I knew in my 20's what I know in my 50's, the 20's would have had a lot less problems. I'd say that instead of thinking about intimacy so soon let a guy get to really know you. If he's wanting to jump in bed right away, he's not for you anyway. The longer you hold out ( not have sex) the better chance you have of finding someone who cares about the real YOU not just what they see. Men enjoy a challenge.

Thx NJ. These look great. I'll check these out

I needed that NJ. Like Melly I was banded in April and feel the same way. Though I was told that the band is a tool not a magic gadget, I am doing poorly with eating correctly. Presently the upper area of my stomach is sore from eating too much yesterday. YES, I ADMIT IT! I have the book "I can Make You Thin". In it McKenna gives advice on things to do to trick the mind and discourage overeating. Many of the suggestions are those we are already aware of. I'm hoping reading it will motivate me to try some of what is being touted. BTW, Id love to see a Gastric Band cookbook. Where can I get one? What is the title?

Duration of port pain after over eating? ?
rrr replied to Trillabyter's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
6-6-2011 A CONFESSION (lengthy) I can find more info here than anywhere. Thanks everybody. I have done exactly what Newbie did. Was banded 4-25-11. 1st fill 5-28-11. Still no restriction. This past Saturday evening ( and I stress evening, because that's when the cravings kick in) I ate 6" flatbread Subway turkey sandwich, 2 Peanut Butter Cookies, mixed nuts (not the whole can but at least a fourth of it). When I started on the Butter Brickle ice cream(1 pint) I was unable to finish it and felt the stuffed feeling. I put the remainder in the freezer and went to bed. I was wearing a slightly fitted dress the next day so I wore my Spanx underneath it. I felt pain that evening after disrobing and settling in for the night. I thought it might have been from the Spanx. I have always been very pleased with Spanx because it is comfortable to me and not restrictive. Can't blame it on the Spanx. Newbie, I have been holding my port area whenever I need to make certain moves. I actually gasped out loud in pain yesterday when I moved the wrong way and the port area hurt. Mine is sensitive to touch, also feels like a pulled muscle. I too will not call the Dr. because I am ashamed that I can not get myself under control. Plus it could be two days before I hear anything. I get faster results here. I too have learned my lesson. Without reading Elcee's advice, I had planned to return to a liquid diet for 2-3 days to see if I could remedy the situation. Elcee, it's good to know I had the same idea as a "veteran" as to what I might possibly do to get better. I know that I get lonely and bored in the evenings and that is why I eat. I have yet to find a way to cure manage this incendiary habit. -
2007 picture, not sure how much I weighed but the dress was a size 22 or 24..... UGH.........

Really struggling with this post-op diet!
rrr replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erin Marie hang in there. I feel your pain. I had to do full liquids post op for 2 weeks. Yours is just a matter of days before you get to mushies. I started mushies last Friday though I was supposed to start them the following Mon. Like you I ate the amt.I was supposed to but I still felt hungry so I ate more. I never did feel full though the Dr. said he'd put a little liquid in my band during surgery. I don't believe him. The only reason I stopped eating was because I was afraid I'd injure myself. Clinsup I wouldn't worry about the liquid stool. I'm no expert but I had that too during the full liquid phase. Besides what's it got to get solid with inside? Getting all of that liquid down can be horrendous. I have a huge jug that will hold 32 oz of liquid. I fill it up in the mornings and use it throughout the day for making Crystal Lt., coffee, mixing in soup and drinking. Once that 32oz is empty I fill it up again. Once that's over, I know I've gotten my 64 oz. I don't always make it but the Doc said to do as much as I could. You'll be surprised @ how fast you'll use up that first 32 oz. BTW has anyone had problems getting onto the chat line? -

Really struggling with this post-op diet!
rrr replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you notice above, last night I was craving food. I ended up eating the yogurt and powder. Then I watched lap band surgery on You Tube. That sobered me up. I didn't want anything else to eat after that. Officially, I have 2 more days before I am to eat mushies, but I bought frozen salmon, instant potatoes and frozen vegetables. The vegs are by Green Giant and called Serving for one. I steamed them in the microwave. I took out < a spoonful. I mashed them with a fork (They are already chopped small) and ate a baby spoon of them. All of this chewing makes me lose interest in the food and why I ate it in the first place. I plan to steam the fish once it unthaws. I'm just afraid of something getting stuck. I know I will eventually experience this but I'm not looking fwd to it. -

Well. well. Of all the messages for me to come home to. I'm sitting here with my hands between my knees roacking back and forth like a heroin addict. Came from a meeting and was not pleased with some of the after. Too lengthy to go into. All I could think about was having something mushy. I have 3 more days before I go to mushy. I was thinking about speeding it up. Wheeler5051 you are right. Skinny people don't understand. We use food whereas they may jog, drink, drug or beat their spouse when they're going through a rough patch. That is why I told very few people about my surgery. FDI I too think I will throw up. Trying to drink another shake is not very appetizing. I'll probably get my caramel yogurt and mix in some choc. powder and pretend it's soft serve. Besides I can't anything mushy anyway. I HAVE NO FOOD IN THE HOUSE! -

4-28-2011 I was banded 4-25-2011 and I am back on full liquids after 3 days of clear liquids. I sometimes mix my leftover brewed coffee with a scoop of the vanilla powder. I blend it with a few ice cubes. I drink it slowly making it last at least 15 minutes. I've also put 1 TBS of low fat peanut butter in with the chocolate powder and almond milk. Mixing the powder in yougurt and leaving in the freezer for about 20 minutes yields ice cream to me. Adding 1/8 tsp Crystal lite lemonade to lemon yogurt=lemon meringue pie for me. You have to use your imagination and stay busy doing other things. -
I haven't had my surgery yet and I'm no expert but I'm thinking the weight can could be not moving about very much, gas left in after the surgery. OR, Their scales are just cuckoo
-
I can tell you are excited. I hope you have positive supportive people to boost you on . Much success. Good for you. I will have my surgery on April 25th also. I am on Day 10 of the full fast. I'm not sure what I weighed on the bathroom scales before. At Drs. office I was 231. Today I am 220/in clothing.

Liquid DIet....3 Weeks...
rrr replied to Chubbywithmuscles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is full liquid. Yogurt, pro drinks, creamy soups, Instant breakfast. You get the picture. This is day three. I woke up with a headache but I made a protein drink hoping that would stop it. I don't know if it was my imagination or mourning for my gluttonous appetite. Anyway the headache has subsided. I went outside around the block. It took me 5 minutes. I was strolling. I was panting a little. The sun was up and it was a little warm. I'll have to get up earlier. Monday I was able to do 15 minutes. Thanks for your encouragement. -

I started my 2 wk fasting diet today also. Yep. It's kicking my a** but I want the results so badly. I've also heard that once you get past day 3 you can kind of make it. I'm a single, retiree who works PT. I have a little too much time on my hands. I walked for 15 minutes today but was puffing a little when I got back. I plan to increase it a little at a time. -

PB Dove. Glad to read your post. I attended the nutrition class on yesterday but will not be banded until 4-25-11. Glad to read your post because I was about to unsubscribe to this topic. So many of the responses are negative in that the banders aren't happy with the results or they have had complications. By advising not to give up I saw a ray of sunshine. What is IBD? Irritable Bowel Disease? What did you mean by not telling anyone except your spouses? Have you received put downs from "friends" thinking you should have lost more or that you shouldn't have had the procedure done? The people I have told don't know each other. I've asked my brother to take me for the same day surgery. He has agreed but hasn't asked me what it is for. I guess he knows in the end I'll have to tell him.

I attended the support group mtg today. I have not gotten a surgery date or had to go through the 2 wk liquid diet. That is the part I am most fearful of. That I will not succeed on the liquid diet. Right now I have been eating as if it is The Last Supper or I am a starving refugee in a 3rd world country. Have you experienced this. I'm beginning to think that maybe this isn't for me since I have not really curtailed my eating habits.
