Any suggestions to curb emotional eating?
Holly Dolly replied to lvlymaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ditto what Missy and Carolina said. I weigh and measure my meals and stick to it, rarely if ever add anymore to my plate. And I also log everything on myfitnesspal. If I am battling emotional eating and it's night time, I will take a bath and sometimes just head to bed to watch tv. -
who here has been banded for at least 2 years and has had NO complications?

I'll take the rounding up!!! I weighed in this morning at 131.8, but it shows me as 131.....

I too still eat what I love, life is too short!

If you did your research you would have learned that the band is just a tool to help you lose weight. It's not magic, it wont make you choose the right foods and if you eat slow enough you can still eat way more than you really need. It helps me to be satisfied on smaller portions of food so I consume less calories than I put out, hopefully anyways with exercise!

just browsing thru in thoughts

I get the jist of it......... She went on a cruise with her hubby and he isn't supportive of her diet. So she ate some things on the cruise because her hubby said it was ok and it was hard for her to pick chicken over the pizza and cake because her hubby is a junk food eater, and she got things stuck....Now she is doing liquids to make up for the time on the cruise. Not sure if she is stuck at 225 or trying to get there! -

You said you are eating pretty healthy, but are you logging everything that you are eating? I am back to losing again now that I am keeping my calories around 1,000 a day. I weigh and measure everything that I eat.

"For those patients who are rigorous about the volume of food they eat, and do not let the stomach to tell them when to stop eating - they do very well. This is one of the keys of successful patients, only eat a certain portion of food - period. If the band is properly adjusted, the appetite will be dimmed for several hours. Once your brain realizes that a small amount of food keeps you satisfied, then your eyes will adjust to the amount you eat." Got that from the article link on the bottom of Missy's post. Great read if you haven't seen it!

I agree Chrissy, because life is too short to not enjoy chocolate!!

Being tighter doesn't mean it will make you make better choices. Usually the opposite is true. Are you going about 4 hours before feeling hungry?

I tell you, it has been my saving grace. I weigh and measure everything I eat and track it on myfitnesspal.com. If I didn't, I could always eat way more than I should.
