Has Anyone Ever Been Prescriped Phentermine In Addition To Their Fill?
Holly Dolly replied to shelbymooy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dr did prescribe it for me and I took it for 3 months. Took it from October to January of this year. Just had my 11 th fill today, actually 13th but I had 2 unfills. I am filled 7.55 in a 10 band. I still have yet to go more than 3ish hours or so without being hungry. Not just hungry but stomach growling loudly. Everyone is different. She said I just may be one of the unlucky ones the band doesn't control hunger very good for. Here's hoping though that today's fill is the charm. -

Don't Judge What's On My Plate
Holly Dolly replied to johnnycantrock's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Get in the habit now of putting only what your normal portion should be on your plate. If you finish it, fine. If you don't that's fine. That way you don't go overboard. If I didn't do this in the beginning, or now for that matter, I could still eat way more. But when I finish, I am satisfied. -

Those Of Us Who Are Brave Enough To Share Weve Failed
Holly Dolly replied to soulsong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was a huge carb lover, thought I would miss pasta and bread terribly. But I don't. I'll have bread at a restaurant or an occassional piece at home, but don't miss pasta or bread at all. Just not worth the extra calories for me. And I still have to track my calories or I could def eat more than I do. -
I have a card from my dr too. I don't order from the kids menu though so never have used it. I have a friend who orders from the kids menu all the time and she said they have never refused her after telling them she has the lapband.

Muelle you have done an amazing job, congrats!

Those Of Us Who Are Brave Enough To Share Weve Failed
Holly Dolly replied to soulsong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 15 months out, 10 fills later, not including 2 fills that had to be removed and refilled again. I am still hungry all the time. But I have sucked up to this fact and do what I gotta do to get this weight off. I'm not perfect, I still eat my sweets, throw back a chip or two. But the band is a tool that you need to use to help you lose the weight. It's not going to do it on it's own. Maybe you need just a little bit more in your band. I am going this Friday for a fill, she said she would give me .1 and I am filled already to 7.3 in a 10 band. I am hoping this help with my hunger, but not holding out for it. Also, the band isn't about making you feel full. It's about being satisfied with what you ate. I by no means feel full and at first that was hard for me. I was used to walking away or rolling away from the table feeling stuffed! So to me before surgery satisfied meant being stuffed and now I no longer miss that feeling. Don't give up. Reevaluate what you are eating and keep track on an online site. I started eating a 4th meal and it has helped. I now eat my lunch around 10:30 and then another small meal around 2. Good luck to you. -
I was told to bring my machine, but I doubt it was even brought into the operating room. I did not stay over night either.

I still count calories, have since day 1. If I didn't, I could still eat way more than I should. I weigh and measure everything too and that's all I get. The first year I ate around 1000 a day. I have now been eating between 1100-1300. I log my intake on myfitnesspal.com. If you sign up there, add me. My name there is holbraden.

and log all the food that you eat!

I would opt for the 4 days off!

I've been too tight twice, and had fluid removed. I am at 7.3 in a 10 band and still feel like I need more. I have already had 10 fills in little more than a year. I eat about 1 cup per meal, 4 meals most days, and average around 1100-1300 calories a day. Maybe your band got irritated from something you ate. So, even if you get some removed now, when you go back and have the same amount put back in you may be fine.

Buy a pill cutter, that will work!

I don't think that's normal! My dr had me on protein shakes, 60 grams a day and 64 oz fluids. You are headed twds dehydration.

Are You Your Own Worst Enemy?
Holly Dolly replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
So true. Just last week I brought home 2 bags of pretzel M&M's for my hubby and girl.....yep, that's right! I ate half a bag myself!!! When I go to the grocery store, I swear I can hear the bags of Cheese Puffs calling out my name. That's when I really have to practice self control and say to myself, "Step away from the cheese puffs"!! -

There's nothing to be terrified about. Hands down best thing I have ever done! I took one last picture of my smiling mug as I walked out that door the morning of surgery and knew that WAS the last picture of the old me!
