What Is A Standard Allergen Band?
Holly Dolly replied to lafaye999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Allergan has 2 sizes, a 10 and a 14. Not sure what he considers standard. Hopefully you didn't get an old one if he wouldn't tell you the size. -
looking good!

No Restriction-One Month
Holly Dolly replied to bunnyovdeth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't have restriction for a long time and have had more than 10 fills. I wouldn't try putting your band to the test. Put the lapband rules in force now because the band is just a tool to help you. If I waited for restriction, I wouldn't have lost weight for a long time! -

Is The Band Really Failing You, Or Are You Failing The Band?
Holly Dolly replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What are your negatives with your band? I can't think of one that I have myself, honestly. -

Need Advice... Do You Think It Is Ok To..
Holly Dolly replied to Bamabander's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd get rid of them and never look back! Keep one pair so you can compare to your new skinny pairs! -
Loves it when I can put my skinny jeans in the dryer and not worry about them not fitting when they get out!

Thanks, I think this is exactly what I needed to read!

Phantom Fat Can Linger After Weight Loss
Holly Dolly replied to ♥LovetheNewMe♥'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I look at it this way, I may have saggy skin on my torso but it tucks nicely into my size 6 pants. I will wear shorts or pants with just my workout bra on when I do the treadmill or just hanging around the house. It honestly doesn't bother me. In fact, I was thinking the other day what my one friend would think who I walk with every morning if she came over and saw me like that. She would prob die! She is one who is very self conscious of herself and will always noticeably eyeball me up and down if I wear sleeveless shirts, etc. I am used to my size now, loving it and never looking back on the old me. She is LONG GONE! I embrace the new me, saggy, droopy skin and all.....except for the arms that will hopefully have plastic surgery on one day! -
welcome to the club!

Question About Quantity Of Liquids..
Holly Dolly replied to Misti Underwood Elledge's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had 3 protein shakes a day that I think were at least 16 ounces. If I remember correctly I was told to have 64 ounces liquid a day. I was also eating sugar free jellos and sugar free popsicles. The shakes prob took me 45 minutes to drink. -
You will get used to it. I would go to restaurants and drink 3 glasses of iced tea preband days. Now when I go out, maybe I drink about 1/2 inch of the glass of water and I am fine. And honestly, I eat my proteins first and I don't think the whole idea that the food is making my pouch contract and sending signals to my brain that I am full. I eat my portioned out meals and that is it. For the most art, I always feel like I can eat more but I don't. I wish I was one who could get full on 1/2 c food!

My dr told us recently at support group that as long as you wait a minute after taking a small bite of food, then a small sip of Water is fine to drink while you eat. I only do so at dinner and it only adds up to a small amount of water. I would say less than a quarter cup.
-
You know the best part about it? I don't have to roll myself away from the table anymore. I used to eat way more and drink at least 2 drinks as well. No more getting stuffed till I can't move!

I thought it was going to be harder that it has. I drink up until my meal or will have tiny sips while I eat making sure I wait in between like I would bites of food.

Hi, my name is Holly and I had my lapband surgery on Feb 4, 2011. Weighing in at 235 in December 2010, I about died when I saw the scale. My mom had offered to pay for my surgery back in November 2009 right after my brother had the surgery done. After accepting the # displayed on the scale I knew something drastically had to change. Sitting on my couch and having a hard time tying my shoe I decided to take her up on her offer. It was at my family Christmas dinner that I told my hubby and kids that my mom was giving me the best Christmas gift ever! My mom truly is my guardian angel on earth. All of my friends were definitely supportive, some jealous wishing they too can have it done. Then some would say, " I would never be able to do that because I wouldn't be able to eat such and such anymore". Well, honestly I don't feel it was such a drastic change from what I was eating before. Sure, I eliminated the bread and pasta which was a HUGE part of my diet. But I still enjoy my past sauce with meatballs. I will have bread if I am at a restaurant and enjoy every bite of it! I eliminated the chips I used to stuff down everyday in the afternoon before having dinner. I still have chips though, but they aren't an everyday food choice for me. Lapband was definitely the best choice for me. I know I will maintain my success, there is NO GOING BACK! I am accountable to myself, my doctor who I still see monthly, and to my friends here on LBT and MFP. Even though we don't know each other in the real world, I enjoy when I see your profile pics pop up on a post! I say to myself, "Hey, that's my friend!" We are here to support each other and cheer each other on! I know that the support circle I have made with my lapband journey is what has made me successful. If you are on myfitnesspal, please add me. My user name is holbraden.

4 weeks for me too.

All the things I was going to say!!! I bought a great little lunch bag that you throw in the freezer so it keeps your food cold. I took it on my hike last week with some tuna and it worked great and is pretty compact in size.
