I still drink the shakes a lot for breakfast. I just find it easier when I'm trying to get my two young ones out the door for school in the morning. I don't have time to sit down and take my time eating breakfast. I was using the ones my doc had recommended but they were very expensive. I found CVS brand protein powder has just as much protein and just as yummy. I know before my surgery they warned me I may have a problem when they are blended with ice, but I have no problem, I can't do them with just the powder and liquid mixed.

How Long Have U Been Banded?
mammamojo replied to Blondie638's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was two years on November 15, I'm very happy with my results but would live to get more. I've lost 60 lbs but have put 10 back on. I'm hoping to get back on the "band"wagon. -

I work a desk job as well my commute is about an hour each way. I had surgery on Monday and the following Monday I was back to work for 3 days, that was Thanksgiving week. I was tired that week but by the time I went back the Monday after Thanksgiving I was fine.

The reason doctors wait 6 weeks before your first fill is because it takes about that long for all the swelling to go down. I felt a difference in my appetite about 5 wks out or so. I am sure everyone is different my doctor said he had one patient who didn't need his first fill for 5 months. Good luck!

My surgeon was a little different I had clear liquids from when I went home from the hospital until my first pre-op visit 2 days later. Then it was full liquids for 2 weeks from surgery date. Then pureed food for 1 week then soft foods and after a couple of weeks I was allowed to add raw fruits and veges and some carbs. The liquid part is the hardest, you will get through this, just remember the small sacrifice now is worth the results later!

This recipe looks delicious! I will have to try it soon my husband just went codfishing over this last weekend. What about plain fat free yogurt to substitute for the mayo? -
Being Banded this Monday - Feb 7th
mammamojo replied to HungryMel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I reply you are somewhere in the process of your surgery. I was banded 11/15/10 and I was nervous beforehand. I have lost 40 lbs since surgery less than 3 months ago. I know everyones weight loss is different but I think the biggest thing is communication with your dr, especially when it comes to fills. I decided after the holidays to wait for my first fill because I wanted to see if I was really ready or if it was just the variety of foods I ate that caused my loss to slow a little. I just got my first fill last week 2cc I feel a bit of a difference but I'm already thinking I may need more. I'll have to see how the next 5 weeks go before my next appointment. It is normal to feel scared and excited all at the same time I had the same feelings, I also couldn't wait for it to be over with already, I had been seeing the surgeon for almost 4mths already because of all the preoperative doctors and tests I needed. I feel so much better than I did and I am only halfway through the weight I want to lose. Good luck, I will be thinking of you all day hoping you have a quick recovery! -
Hi I am new to this website. I was banded 11/15/10, I love it! I always had a weight problem but if I put my mind to it and followed a diet and exercised I was able to lose weight. Right before I got married I was doing just that watching what I ate and exercising like crazy and not gaining weight but not losing at all. I went for a physical and found out I have hypothyroid. For eight years I had gradual weight gain, surprisingly was able to lose pregnancy weight twice (I attribute that to breastfeeding) but after losing that the gradual weight gain continued. So in complete frustration I talked to my PCP about weight loss and he said his wife who is in practice with him has been working with a bariatric surgeon and he recommended I see them about lapband. He is a pretty conservative guy so for him to reccomend that I took it pretty seriously. I started seeing the surgeon in July 2010 since then I have lost almost 60 lbs, 20 lbs pre-surgury and the rest since. I had my first fill a week ago (2/1/11) and I remembered how being on liquids was like torture, hungry all the time. Back on regular diet now and doing ok. The holidays were difficult because I discovered there wasn't much I couldn't eat. I am having a difficult time getting back to the diet I was doing so well before the holidays but I have started exercising. My hardest times are the weekends when we socialize with others, I need to figure out something to help me eat what and how much I am supposed to. My biggest concern is not causing my band to slip. I realize when I do eat a lot it is nowhere near what I used to eat without the band but still I have the moments. I am looking forward to checking out chat areas on here and learning more and getting and giving support when possible.
