Day 2 post op...hows it going?
Fox-E replied to vbm510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days post op. I agree...walk, walk, walk, walk. I was getting stir crazy in the hospital and was walking constantly. I was told this was the best thing I could do to start feeling better, and they wished other bariatric patients on the floor would follow my lead. I'm making progress with the Spirometer, too, so that my lungs stay open. Keep sipping Water. My headached finally went away after people suggested I might not be drinking enough water. Good luck to you!!!! PS: how do you guys put a tracker on your posts? -
I just spoke with my doctor's office. They want all pills to be crushed, chewable, or liquid for the first four months!!! UGH!!! Then I can cut them down to the size of a Tic-Tac. Sorry to hear you guys are not feeling well. I hope you get back to feeling normal again soon. I'm sure once the weight starts dropping off, that will lift your spirits!!!

Surgery went just fine. Was in the hospital for two nights. Came home this morning. Experienced some nausea the day after surgery. I'm on full liquids right now and am glad to be eating Greek yogurt or sugar free pudding. Pain hasn't been too bad. They had me on Dilaudid. I had my last dose yesterday and haven't needed anything for pain since. The worst pain I'm having right now is in the form of a headache. I still have some gas blocked in my abdomen from surgery, and I wish it would just get out. I've also started crushing and taking meds. Most are tolerable, except for Metformin. THERE IS NO WAY I am trying this again crushed. It was so nasty!!!! What experiences have you all had with trying to take your Metformin after surgery.

Sleeve surgery Monday. Starting to get nervous!!! I just gotta remember that people have surgery everyday!!

Anyone pretty new out of surgery? I have mine in just over a week, and I'm not sure what Vitamins to buy. I've been trying all sorts of samples. I think I'm leaning toward Bariatric fusion.

I lost weight like crazy the first 5 days of the 2 week Preop diet. Do you eventually taper off and slow down with weight loss? I also don't seem to be as hungry either.

I have my surgery on August 27. What do you experienced post op peeps recommend for vitamins and calcium? I was told no gummies. Any brand you like best?

THE LIQUID DIET COMPLAINING/SUPPORT LOUNGE
Fox-E replied to V.V.V.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm heading to bed at the end of day 6. It's not too bad, but the weekend is the hardest. No work to distract me. A lot of people posting about poop or lack thereof. The dietician said it can cause constipation or explosive diarrhea. I just really want some solid food!!! Had to go to grocery store tonight. That was torture, but kept willpower in check. I've lost 10 lbs so far but have been at standstill for two days. I wouldn't mind losing 5 more before surgery on the 27th. -
Hi everyone, I am having the sleeve done on 8/27...finally!!! I just started my 2-week liquid diet. I am following it to a T. I thought after day one when I woke up this morning, my glucose would be lower. It was 170, and I usually run about 115. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Has anyone had issues with an inital spike? I briefly read somewhere about liver and glucose, blah blah, but I don't think it was reliable. Thanks for your help!

I am having surgery in Mesa, AZ. I drink the premiere shakes from costco. Finding blood sugar is lower in the afternoon than morning. Have not had another 170 morning. About 130-140, which is still high for me.

Wow! So many women and doctors make it sound like it will be a piece of cake after surgery to get pregnant. I'm sorry you had to wait so long, but you response definitely brought me back to reality. We are currently on a waiting list to adopt a newborn.

Has anyone on here struggled with PCOS and then had Lap Band? Has the weight loss changed the PCOS symptoms?
-
Question...I have PCOS, and the only way to lessen the symptoms is to lose weight. PCOS makes it EXTREMELY difficult to get pregnant. At this weight, I am pretty much guaranteed not to get pregnant. Could having this speed up the approval process of having the Lap Band done...skipping the 6 month waiting period?
-
Hi all! I am just getting started in the process of learning about Lap Band. I am going to a seminar in a couple of weeks. I've struggled with my weight my entire life, and I've tried everything. My weight now is preventing me from getting pregnant with our first child, and the biological clock is ticking at a rapid speed (I'm 34). The only time I successfully lost weight is when I was medically forced to...had gall bladder out and couldn't eat fat, lost 65 lbs. I gained back 100 lbs. once I started putting fat back into my diet and took Zoloft...100 lbs. in a year. My husband recently had the gastric sleeve and has lost 80 lbs. I don't think I am ready to take that drastic of a step with either that or bypass, but something has to be done. I don't know how I feel about having some foreign object hanging out in my body. However, after meeting a few people who've had the band and have had great success, I am less scared now. Any advice would be greatly welcomed! Thank you for your support.
