    Calling all June sleevers

Looks like I'll be getting sleeved June 30th or July 1st now.... I'm still super excited. Hoping these months speeds by!!!
  5. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia too. I used to take lots of meds & gained weight.... I got tired of not "feeling" like myself & went cold turkey. Some mornings I wake up & get everything done on my to-do list... Others days it hurts to even attempt to roll over in the bed.... However, I'm still determined to have this procedure(scheduled for July 1st w/ Dr. Aceves). Somehow, I think the weight loss will help decrease some of the pain I feel. I just hope I don't have a really bad flare up once I get the procedure. I look forward to hearing other experiences with the sleeve & Fibro/CFS...

    African American Sleevers

I finally scheduled my procedure... It's July 1st with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali.... So far, I've only told 3 people that I'm having WLS. Only one person knows its in Mexico because I don't think I can deal with the negative comments right now. I know my insurance won't cover the sleeve because I don't have a 40 bmi or any existing medical conditions. Anyways, I'm excited about getting my surgery date and really nervous about the procedure. Be prepared for a lot of questions in the near future!!! lol Also, How much time did you take off of work? One week? Two weeks? A month? I ask because I just started my new job with the state & I have about a week & a half worth of sick/annual leave I can use.... I'm combining it with a weekend & July 4th holiday to make it a full two weeks. I work as a public health nurse so it's not too strenuous but I do have to be somewhat active. Do you think two weeks is enough?

    African American Sleevers

Hello, I'm new to the forum... I've been doing research on lap band & then I decided that the sleeve is the better option for me... I know my insurance will not cover the procedure, so I'm exploring going to Mexico. I've already contacted Dr. Aceves (sp?) and got some information. I know I'll have to cut back and save money but I know it will be worth it. I can't continue to be unhealthy anymore..... To those of you that have been sleeved, Where did you have your procedure done? Any complications? How did your family & friends react? How are you dealing with the lifestyle changes???
