  1. Happy 43rd Birthday vmlori!

  2. I just had my lap-band surgery on Tuesday, Feb 8th and I feel great, but I have gained 7-8 lbs of Fluid in my stomach. I don't feel bloated or uncomfortable, just my stomach is pretty distended. Anyone else have that occur and hav any suggestions on how to rectify? Thank you, Lori

    Recovery time

I had my lap band surgery yesterday and to be quite honest, I feel fine. A little tender, but all in all I feel great. 10 days is plenty of time of rest and recouperation. But, it also depends on your pain tolerance. I am sore around my port incision, because it's about 2" long, but other than that, I feel great. I wish you the best, and good luck on your surgery.
  4. I am brand new to the site and just decided to join. My Lap-Band surgery is this Tuesday and I am super excited, but nervous as well. My nutritionist said I could do the Protein only portion for 5 days, and let me tell you, I have been eating more protein than prior to being on the protein only portion. I have had steak, a ton of eggs, pork chops and bacon. I kinda feel nauseous from all the grease and fats. I am skipping going out to Superbowl parties, cause it would be too difficult for me. I will make my own grill wings, if I feel the urge. I must admit, the part that makes me the most nervous is being hungry after the liquid portion for 2 solid weeks. I am also concerned about the gas pain, that seems to be prevalent. I haven't told too many people either, only because I feel like a failure that I can't lose the weight on my own. I feel like it's a willpower thing, but that is from having siblings who are not overweight and even though not judgemental, that's how I feel. I also have a fear that even after losing the weight, I will still feel self conscious and this will not help my dating situation. A friend said, it all comes from within and my weight shouldn't play a factor in my happiness. I hope to G*D she is wrong and I gain some new found confidence and become more appealing to men. I am 41 and still single. Makes for a pretty miserable existence. This is my last ditch effort for some confidence.
