    Aggravating...

I absolutely love Cocoabean's idea. Also, I'd let him know that it's against Facebook's terms of service to hack into someone's account (that is, if he was using his girlfriend's account to respond to you). I'd absolutely post his reply to your Wall using @nameofgym as a tag so that it tags to him to the message. Let people see how (un)caring the owner is over there. Between the overreaction and his use of caps, just chalk it up to Little Man Syndrome (or Little D*ck Syndrome). That would make me feel better
  2. I don't know what I would do without seafood. I always have salmon, tilapia, tuna fish and shrimp in the house. Tilapia and Mahi Mahi are so easy to make with just spraying olive oil and some salt, pepper and dill. I have tuna fish for lunch about twice a week wrapped in lettuce being conscious of the mercury not to have it a lot. I could eat tuna everyday, seriously. I've really started to enjoy grilled salmon. I love lox but never got into eating a filet of salmon. The nice thing about seafood is that it makes going out to eat a lot easier. It's easier to modify fish orders to cook the fish in less oil and find unbreaded/unencrusted options. Last night I had 6 medium steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce and sauteed garlic spinach. Delish!
  3. That sucks!! Good for your for advocating for yourself and seeking another opinion. I would have thought your surgery paperwork would have noted the size since think there is a serial number associated with each device that would indicate the size.

    Jonathan from New York City!

I think the clear liquid rule is that you have to be able to see through it. Cranberry juice not so much, but apple juice may be ok. Good luck tomorrow!

    NEW INSURANCE...RENEWED HOPE!

I go to Malley as well and Dr Fearing did my surgery. I totally recommend them too.
  6. Ingredients: 2 large whole Portobello mushrooms - Stems removed 1/2 Cup Marinara (I used Giada DeLaurentis' Roasted Garlic Marinara, since it only has 9 carbs per 1./2 cup) 1/4 cup chopped white onion 1/3 Cup Smart Ground - Original: http://www.lightlife...tgroundoriginal If you haven't used Smart Ground, try it! It's the consistency of ground beef but no fat and it takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it in) 6 Artichoke hearts - chopped 1/4 cup Reduced Fat mozzarella Olive Oil Pam Any seasonings you like. I used salt, pepper, garlic powder and parsley *Preheat over to 350 *Saute the artichokes and onion in a pan on Medium *Reduce heat to medium-low and add marinara, Smart Ground and seasonings to taste *Lay Mushrooms on their backs to stuff them *Stuff with onion/artichoke/Smart Ground/Marinara on the mushroom (divide the mixture in half for each mushroom) *Sprinkle the cheese on top - dividing the 1/4 cup in half to go on each mushroom *Place on baking sheet and bake in oven for about 10-15 mins Nutritional Information I figured the value for 2 mushrooms and divided it in half for a serving of 1 stuffed mushroom 205 Calories 5.8gms Fat 22.4gms Carbs 18.7gms Protein If you can only eat half a mushroom, then divide my totals by half. This is a little high on the carbs than I usually do, but it's SO delicious. I might change the marinara to just diced tomatoes or roasted red peppers. The carbs are more coming from the mushroom and artichoke than the marinara. Enjoy!!

Most times it's not about who the insurance carrier is, but what provisions or exclusions are included in the employer's plan. BCBS covers some people and not others, like me, because my employer opted out of bariatric coverage. Some companies opt out of this coverage (and infertility coverage) to have lower premiums and monthly premiums for the employees. It's best to check with the employer. Btw, love your name. I went to Mizzou and am in KC too!

    Headed to GNC

I am a GNC Gold Card Member and the Lean Shakes ready-to-drink come out at a good price, and they are the best tasting I've found. I tried Lean Shake, Isopure (barf!) and GNC's Amplify. Sometimes they have a good sale on buy one, get one half off for the Lean Shake 4 packs. If the sale is online AND they have free shipping, I order like 8 four packs and stock up. The RTD Lean Shake is better in low carb, high protein than the Lean Shake powder shakes.

    can't look at a drink!

Also try popsicles or pedialtye popslcles to help with the dehydration.
  10. Everyone is different in what foods they can't tolerate and which they may be able to eat but restrict due to the carbs/calories. I can eat bread, any meat, Pasta and rice, but I chose to keep the bread, pasta and rice down to a minimum. If I have pasta at home, I use whole wheat pasta and only about 1oz cooked (which is 1/2 oz dry pasta). Check out restaurant websites for their nutritional info. I think that's more important in making the decision on what to eat. You may be surprised how high cal some fish dishes are if they are encrusted with anything. Soup is a great choice, just be careful since it's a slider food and may not fill you up. That equals empty calories that don't help to keep you full and prevent from eating more. I looked on Carraba's website, and they don't post their nutritional info. That's a little scary and could be telling. For a LONG time The Cheesecake Factory refused to post their nut. value or provide it. Well, now there are a handful of states that require chain restaurants to provide this info either on their menu or in a handout/on their site. I was shocked when I saw their values. Remember you can tailor your orders to remove butter or cream sauces, and put dressings on the side.

    SHED SOME LIGHT

The hiccups are the result of the band, swelling or a full pouch pushing against the phrenic nerve causing the diaphragm to spasm (hiccup).

    Jimmy John's unwhich

Wrapped in lettuce, and it's delish! It's wrapped tightly and with butcher paper, so the sandwich is easy to eat.

    Jimmy John's unwhich

I usually get the Turkey Tom Unwich, no mayo, add cucumber, add dijon mustard, add provolone and it comes to 193 cals/9.5 fat/7.3 carbs/22 Protein. Here is their nutritional site, which has a GREAT builder to add and remove items to see the values. http://jimmyjohns.com/menu/nutrition.aspx. If I did that sandwich without the cheese, it's 93 cals! Add a side pickle slice and it's a great "fast food" meal!
  14. Maybe jump into the liquid diet for 2 days then back into mushies and solids? At least doing liquids will make you crap out all of the junk hehe
  15. I really like the Wasa crackers. They are about 60 calories for two of them, and I usually just need one for lunch. I prefer the multigrain version over the others.

    Sneakers

Have you tried Nike Air Pegasus? I love them and have worn them since I ran track in high school. They have great cushioning and stability for those who underpronate (turn ankles inwards when walking). I just got a new pair

    Question for the Ladies

Think of the upside.... you'll be on great pain meds so you won't feel the cramps!!! You're naked for surgery, so find out if it's ok to wear a tampon since you won't be able to wear a pad. When you get home, you'll probably want to use pads for the next few days. Bending to insert a tampon (or do anything bending) can be painful.
  18. It's not you. That was jerk behavior that shouldn't even merit a response from you to him. If my husband did that, I'd stick the chicken right up his....

    unfill before vacation

Someone mentioned cruising. Would it worry any of you to be filled while traveling out of the country where you will be in open Water for three days (e.g.- without a hospital in case of an emergency)? I'm going on a cruise in September and grapple with this idea of unfilling only because G-d forbid something happens in Nassau, St Maarten, St Thomas or while at sea. The cruise ships do have medical facilities, but after 10 cruises, I luckily have never had to see one I can't imagine unfilling and then eating with wild abandon. If I have one rich item now, I'm "on the pot" for hours afterward, since my body is not used to red meat, sweets and high fat items.

    Daily menu

It's Passover right now, so no bread, cracker or Pasta items for me. This year it actually isn't that traumatic since I've cut those items way down since being banded on 2/17. Morning: Starbucks Tall Skinny Cinnamon Dulce Latte (only like 90 cals/14 carbs/9 protein) Breakfast: 1/2 cup of egg salad w/ dill, onions and light mayo. 1/2 cup pineapple Lunch: 3oz grilled chicken with light ranch wrapped in boston lettuce leafs. 1/2 cup cucumber salad Snack: Fage 0% Greek Yogurt - Cherry Pomegranate Pre-Workout: GNC Lean shake - Vanilla Dinner: 3 meatballs, 1/4 cup pasta sauce, 1/4 cup 1% cottage cheese on top and melted. 1 cup of matzo ball soup.
  21. I don't think insurance will cover Botox for hyperhydrosis, since the use of it for that condition is off-label use from what Botox is FDA approved to treat.
  22. Until your first fill, it's very tough to start eating and preparing for what life will be like after you get to the correct fill level for yourself. You probably have very little Fluid in your band right now that was left over from priming it during surgery. That sometimes keeps your hunger at where it was before. One thing I did was to tell myself was that just because I could eat like I did, didn't mean I should. I also was self-pay, so laying down 16K does the trick for me to eat the way I should. Maybe look at it as practice for when you are filled. I was filed 6 weeks post op and had already 6 weeks of "practicing" how to cook and serve smaller portions, not drinking when I eat, eating slower and chewing better. I've never had stuck issues, sliming, PB's, etc. It's tough; I won't lie. The fact is if we had willpower alone, we may not need the band, right? Spend this time now on healing and practicing for what life will be like. Most physicians will say that post op until the first fill really isn't a time where ppl lose a lot of weight. Don't beat yourself up
  23. Regarding a C-Section, a C-Section incision is right above your bikini area (top of the pubic area), which is well away from the stomach, port or where the band tubing would be - so no worries about that! I have PCOS and used fertility treatments for 4 years before getting pregnant. Now that my daughter is 2, I got the Lap-Band, but we're not going to have anymore kiddos. Although, my periods have become more regular so the birth control med is a must for me. Depending on where your weight is when you get pregnant, your OB or Reproductive Endocronologist may not want you to gain a lot of weight anyway.

    Dr. Malley in KC

I went to the seminar in late January and had my surgery on 2/17 - a few weeks later. I had mine so quickly because I was self-pay, so I didn't have to jump through any insurance hurdles.. My insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgeries. One thing to understand about insurance is that it really doesn't matter who the insurance company is, but what the insurance plan is. For example, one person with BCBS through their employer may have bariatric coverage while someone else with BCBS from another employer may not have coverage. Some employers opt out of bariatric coverage to keep their premium costs down. This is the same reason why infertility treatments and cosmetic surgery is not covered. Often times insulin resistance and PCOS are not considered co-morbitities. I have both IR and PCOS too. Start the process, and Dr. Malley's office will do the legwork to find out what you need to do to get insurance approval. Their team is really quick with those responses!
