Hello-trying to find out about port and tube replacement procedure please. Is this done with a local anesthesia or is it general anesthesia? Thanks
-
Just trying to find out if it is done with local or general anesthesia. I have been banded since 2011 and it has worked and I have had no issues. Recently I had a rather large hernia repair in my diaphragm and the tube was most likely kinked or broken during this surgery. Since I have had success I would like to get the port tube repaired and that is why I just want to know is this done with a local and would like someone that has done this to let me know. Thanks.

New Here-questions-sorry If You Have Heard Them, But There Is A Lot To Dig Through

Ankle wieghts might work or just fudge the height check. You can just slink down a little and lower your height an inch or so. That should get you where you need to be. -
Eating Two days after surgery
sandy1 replied to abphilippi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It certainly does! He says he is logged out and gone for good. -
Hard to believe anyone could get the band at 136 pounds (female) . I weighed 185 and the OR nurse told me I was the smallest person she had ever seen getting banded. I am in Houston Texas also and when I go to fills (true Results) I never see people thin like you saw. They must have real issues, I think fills are rather expensive. I got one year of free adjustments with my surgery so have yet to pay. Just wondering where you went?

How long did it take to receive your card? I sent off for mine and it never came. It has been 4 months. -
I found it at Target

That is Absolutely crazy for them to tell you to eat lunch right after a fill. I am told to do liquids only the day of the fill and then go back to solids the next day. As Acadia says it can take some time for the fill to show, but still after an adjustment there will be some swelling, so you just need to take it easy for a short time after.

Hi, I'm worrying if this is normal?
sandy1 replied to msaprildawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it goes away!. I took the gas-x strips and walked as much as possible. Walking is your friend right now. Do it often! -
Most of the pain I experience was right after waking up from the procedure. The gas pain was minimal too. Easiest surgery I have had! And so worth it!! Eating is a challenge at times but not so bad either.

Why am I still defeding myself?
sandy1 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People sometimes are just not very nice! The people that know I had the surgery for the most part DO NOT even compliment me on my wieght loss The people that don't know I had lap band when they see me they really tell me how great I look. It seems like those that know must think I took the easy road or that I just cheated and don't deserve a compliment! I live in a big city now but grew up in a small town and remember how judgemental small town folks can be. Hold your head up high and know what a great job you hve done losing weight and bettering your health! Let those small town folks talk and know they will move on to their next victim soon!! -
Lapband surgery done with BMI of 30?
sandy1 replied to Tgraham's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think there are quite a few low BMI out here now. I started at 33 and was told I was not big enough by many people to get the band, even my cardiologist said I didn't need to get the band. I felt plenty big!!! And my blood pressure just kept on climbing and then I had to add a second pill to keep my blood pressure low enough. Even then my BP was just moderate. So I made the decision to get lap band and had to self pay. Even the nurse that wheeled me out to my driver after the procedure told me I was the smallest person she had seen getting the band. Well now I have lost 30 pounds and my BP was 110 over 60 at my last doctor's visit!!!!!!!!!!! So I don't really care who thinks what about my band!!! I said 110 over 60!!! Pre lap band I was 150 over 90 with the help of two pills!!!!!!!! My lap band rocks!! -

Lap Band for a BMI of Less than 35?
sandy1 replied to TexasLady1986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello from another Texan. Get into a seminar and arm your self with as much information as possible. Then make your decision. You are the only one that can make this choice, but you already know you have your father backing you and that is HUGE!. From your post I think you are an excellant candidate for lap band. You have very similar stats to me post op. I weighed in at 187 and 5' 3 and 1/2" tall. I am down to about 156 now and still losing. My blood pressure is so much better now and I feel better too! Wishing you the very best with your decision and surgery if you decide to go ahead! Keep us posted! Take care, Sandy
