Anyone else have back pain
sandy1 replied to bluescooby14's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had some pretty bad back pain about one week after surgery. It lasted several days. I decided it was gas pains because I started taking my gas-x strips again and the pain stopped. -
I am going this afternoon for my first fill. My apointment is not until 2:30PM and they probably will keep me in the waiting room for 1 hour. I am nervous!!! My friend got his first fill last week and he said the needle hurt alot more that he thought it would! Plus I will probably be ready to faint with no solids all day!!! I should have got a AM appointment but none were available!!! I can do this!!! Wish me luck.

My doctor said only liquids for 5 hours prior to the procedure. The procedure was fine, almost pain free. I am hungry now due to no solids all day. I am a little scared to eat much so right now am trying to get down some greek yogurt.

Just wondering how it went. I was so nervous and for me the actual fill was almost pain free. I do feel, for lack of better words, weird now!

Hello! Welcome to Lap Band Talk!!!! -
Doctors are so different! I only did mushies for two weeks.
-
I did! Had to take a stress test and echo cardiogram (an ultra sound of the heart). Every thing worked out for me and will for you too!

Banding in less than 3 hours
sandy1 replied to FadnoMore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad your surgery went well. Take gas-x strips for the gas and walk. This helped me alot!!!! -
I am one month this Wednesday being banded. I have no regrets at all. The wieght is coming off, fast at first and slower now. This is exactly what I was told would happen. I go in Thursday and get my first fill. While I don't think I can eat a steak (and scared to try) I can eat solid food for sure! Your post says you just met this person with the band. I am not sure if her story is completely true. Some people do tend to exagerate. Perhaps her original surgeon was reluctate to remove the band, but 2 years trying to find someone to take it out-I don't believe that. Put some socks on and get rid of those cold feet!!

sandy1 replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't believe you are having a stuck episode. Getting stuck is a very very uncomforable experience. You will know when you get stuck. It hurts!!!!! -
Pure Protein. I bought them at Walmart. The Peanut Butter and chocolate are the only ones I tried and they are excellant!!!!!
-
Great deal!! I am glad your surgery went well. Keep some gas-x handy in case the case pains kick in. That helped me so much. Keep on walking too!!!!!!!
-
Congratulations!! Post as soon as you are able and tell us how you are doing!!

Billing Vent!!! Did this happen to you?
sandy1 replied to mlfsandiego's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am self pay too and paid everything up front. I had the hernia repair and they billed my insurance for that and my copay for that is a little over $2000. I understand that even though I don't like it. What I found amazing was they also tried to collect a second time for my banding procedure from my insurance company. They were denied due to my lower BMI, but what if my insurance would have paid for it? I am soooo sure they would have called me up and said oh by the way here is your $9900 back!!!!! -
Caffeine Headaches.......... How do you deal..?
sandy1 replied to ackbob's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Poor you! Caffeine headaches are the worst. I was never told to get off coffee. I do not add anything to mine so there are no unwanted calories! Sorry wish I could help. -
Now that is funny!! I told a couple of my co-workers and regret it. One person told me his sister n law had the band and she never lost any weight. They are constantly asking me how much I lost. I think they are waiting for me to fail so they can say I told you so. I found out later the sister n law never returned after the band for a fill!

I had a BMI of 32. I also chose the band for my own reasons. They are good reasons and I have no regrets. I had 5 incisions. 3 are very small and not very noticable now at 3 and a 1/2 weeks out. The other two are a little bigger but they are getting better too. Good luck with your new friend the lap band!
