I'm almost 4 weeks out and I'm cold all the time. This is a welcomed side effect though because before surgery I was always hot and sweaty.

I stayed out 3 weeks.

What are they going to do to treat it?

I've had success with chili beans, cottage cheese, olives, cherry tomatoes, pears and peaches. I have not tolerated steak or chicken well at all.

What would you do differently?

I wouldn't have bought so much isopure because I can't stomach it. I really wouldn't buy a ton of stuff because what sounds good now might not later. I never used the 1 oz cups. Hated the 10.00 worth of bone broth I bought. I would buy a pack of sugar free popsicles. -
What kind of lettuce was it? Maybe try butter lettuce because it's softer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had reflux so my surgeon put it this way that I'd hate him for doing the sleeve and I'd be back for a revision to bypass. I had some damage to my esophagus already so the sleeve wouldn't have been a good option. He also said bypass has more research and better long term results. It sounds like this is a common thing after surgery people hit stalls and they eventually break through. I just had my surgery 1/25 so I'm not there yet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Best friend totally unsupportive.

Almost the same thing happened to me, but more harshly delivered. I had surgery last week and haven't spoken to her since before surgery and don't plan to speak to her again. I've decided to surround myself with positivity. The recovery isn't a walk in the park and the last thing you need is her and her negative thoughts. This is your year to focus on your health and making your quality of life better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

You'll need to be out 6 weeks with the amount of weight you need to lift. I was told nothing over 10lbs for 6 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I wouldn't buy a bunch of Protein shakes before surgery and I certainly wouldn't start now with substituting meals with them and I say that because I'm soooo sick of shakes! I'd get some flavorless protein to add to my drinks and food. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Gastric Bypass with Giant Hernia and Crohns
parrott06 replied to weezzee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had bypass done on 1/25 and had a huge hiatal hernia. My surgery took longer than expected, but he said there was no way he could leave the hernia without repair. The hernia repair has been the most painful part of my recovery. The surgeon said I would be really sore and it would feel like I had broken ribs and he wasn't kidding. I was in extreme pain! I ended up with sub. emphysema and my face became so swollen and it crackled if you touched it. I am totally fine now and the surgery was a success. Message me if you have anymore questions. Revision from Gastric Sleeve to Gastric Bypass-due to acid reflux?
parrott06 replied to ren0318's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I wanted the sleeve so bad and my surgeon told me I would hate him if I went through with the sleeve. I have no info to give you, but from the articles I've read bypass seems to be the cure for reflux. I had damage from years of reflux so bypass was strongly suggested. He told me I'd be begging for a revision if I went with the sleeve. I just wanted to say best of luck to you. I know this is a tough decision. I will say I've had no reflux since surgery last week. I had surgery 1/25 and I'm weighing tomorrow so I'll let you know how it goes. What you're describing sounds normal and if you didn't start off at a higher bmi the weight loss may be a little slower. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I wasn't given one and when I asked for one the surgeon at Duke said they don't requests that patients wear them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Bypass or Sleeve?

I'm taking 1 week. I have a desk job and work from home so I think that's doable, but probably won't be easy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I did the questionnaire which took an hour and then the face to face evaluation was an hour. Questions asked do you have a support person, review of the lifestyle change, past diet attempts, what I do for a living, criminal background, and some personality questions. They pretty much want to make sure you're mentally stable. I would explain that you know this is a tool and you're determined to be successful Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Different processes in different countries!

In in America and it really depends on who your insurance is with. My first appointment was December 9th and I'm scheduled for surgery 1/25. I did have to do 1 psych exam, nutritionist visit, endoscopy and a sleep study before it was submitted to insurance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
