This is our time! Yay us!
Soon2BMiniMommy replied to Holiday's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Too funny, Lisa, me too! I have a list for what to bring to the hospital, what to get at the store before I go, what to do until then (organize clothes, make homemade chicken and beef broth and freeze in individual containers, make sure to have clean sheets ). Got lists of what to eat, like you, lots to choose from so I don't get bored in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. I'm lucky my doc doesn't require a pre-op diet, but I'm still gonna do a low-carb, low-fat for 2 weeks before the surgery, just cause I want to do whatever I can without suffering. For those that had the two-week liquid diet, I feel for ya!!! Man.....torture. SOOOOOO freakin' excited to go on this journey with you guys! -

OMG!!!! Approved AND Scheduled!!!
Soon2BMiniMommy posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whoo hooo!!! Just called BCBSIL today and they sent the approval letter off to the surgeon! My surgery date is October 20. Almost one month from today. Gosh, a whole 'nother month. Ah, well, it should go by fast...I hope! I really didn't expect it to be this easy (except for the looonggg 6 month diet part). I was fully expecting to be denied and have to appeal. My surgeon's office just submitted my claim last Wednesday!!! Holy moly!!! I just can't wait to join everyone on the loser's bench! Now I'm starting to get butterflies. I was at first worried more about the actual surgery, and the very, very minimal possibility of leaving my beautiful little boy without a mommy, but you know what? Now I'm starting to realize that I'm kinda scared of the unknown....I have never, never been thin. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic at the possibility, and I'm a very strong person that totally embraces change, but that's why it's so weird for me to feel a little shaky about this. I know that I will be changing so much, not only physically, but mentally, too. It's going to be an exciting journey, that's for sure!!! I can't wait to get on this roller-coaster ride and just goooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Love you guys and am SO GLAD you are all here...without you, I would have gone absolutely batsh*t crazy over these last 7 or so months!!! Pardon the term... :becky: My insurance hasn't technically approved me yet, should come early next week....but there's no reason why they would deny me. Just waiting for that last hurdle and I'll be FREEEE!!!!!

October 17 VSG, need October friends!
Soon2BMiniMommy replied to Hopeful Spirit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, there! I'm October 20 in the Seattle area. We'll all only be days apart! My surgeon also has an extensive support system, although he does not require a two-week liquid diet. He thinks it's torture. He does want me to eat VERY sensibly though, low-fat, low-carb, hi-Protein for a couple weeks before and no binging on fatty foods ( I think he specifically mentioned running to Olive Garden for Fettucine Alfredo!) Who, mmmmeeee??? NEVER!!! Anywhoozle, he uses a 32 French bougie, the smallest. He said that this surgery started years ago using 44's and 50's and it has eventually come down smaller and smaller as research and experience has found that smaller is better for long-term, most successful weight loss. He does a special little thing where he leaves the tightest part of the left-over tummy a little bigger to avoid the leak issue...that 's my worst nightmare....need to stay/get healthy for my baby boy! I'm an 'old' mom (by some people's standards ) and need to be here a long time! Can't wait to share with you all! -
So, my beauties, I have to leave this board and go to the October Sleevers board. I am so, so sad. First, because I have to wait EVEN longer, and second, because I have got to know you all and already feel close *sniff* Good news is that I have a date, 10/14, but I will miss you guys. I mean, we're not going anywhere, we're still all here, but you know....it's like moving to a new school. Sooooo, I guess I'll go post on the October Sleevers board. There's only 8 topics on there so far....oh, I hope there's an 'organizer' like we had for the roster and such. See you guys in main forums! Good luck on your journeys and I'll be joining you soon - just a little late, is all!!!

FINAL Visit & Insurance Approval!!!
Soon2BMiniMommy posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, everyone...I have waiting for this day for SOOOO long!!! I've watched everyone with their submittals, consequent approvals, scheduled date, etc, and now it's my turn!! Oh my gosh, is this for real?? Finally??? After researching WLS for 10 years, waiting through the 6 month pre-surg diet plan, etc, etc. So all is a go, my surgeon is writing the letter of necessity today, to be sent with my packet to BCBSIL early next week. They are going to let me set a tentative surgery date contingent on approval, of course. Oh, man. The roller coaster ride is now starting, please fasten your belts, people! You're gonna be hearing a lot from me now, lol!! Love you all so MUCH and thanks for being here!!! -

Having trouble getting food down!!! Help!
Soon2BMiniMommy replied to Texas Gal's topic in Food and Nutrition
So, disclaimer here, I HAVE NOT HAD THE SURGERY YET, but I have seen what you're going through here on the boards many, many times. Almost everyone I have read that had this problem slowly realized they were eating too fast. Not inhaling their food, but just not realizing how slow they really need to eat. You say you're chewing, chewing, chewing and that's good! Maybe take a break between bites, go REALLY slow and stop before you even feel a little bit full? Just a thought....like I said, I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've seen this so many times on here, often with a forehead slap -
What to tell people why I am out?
Soon2BMiniMommy replied to shellnsons's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did what Kelly did, I told my work/bosses/coworkers that I was having a laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair. It's almost the exact same kind of operation, same recovery time, etc. If you look it up online, it's pretty straightforward and you can just gloss over it. I'm in complete agreement that it's nobody's business...I also don't want to deal with people's biases and negative ignorance!! My body, my business. Good luck! -
Thank you SO much for the info and follow-up! I, too, suffer from extreme hirsutism, along with all the other symptoms, and it so helps to know there is light at the end of this tunnel. Yes, if you can let us know what type of laser was used, that would be GREAT!!! Thanks again, Madison!!

Yummy bread with protein in it
Soon2BMiniMommy replied to Suzannesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! The carb content is amazing, too!! I will definitely be getting that after I'm sleeved (a while out, anyway ). And it may be expensive, but it's not like we can make a whole sandwich out of it!! Thanks so much for the heads up, Suzanne!! -
Oh, Ed......how about the cream of mushroom soup recipe??? Yummy!!!

How bad is your gurgle and can you control it?
Soon2BMiniMommy replied to DoOver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh, I SO have to laugh at this. I don't know about all of you, but I never had gurgles before, because I have NEVER allowed myself to get hungry..... But I can't tell you how many times I have been with a 'naturally thin' person and have heard their tummy growl something fierce when they're hungry! It makes me laugh because maybe this is normal from our little tummies being empty, like normal thin people, but we have no experience with it because we were always overweight and overfeeding ourselves?? I can't say for sure yet, but I think I will enjoy my gurgles and growls....it will be one of those things that will make me feel 'normal', if that makes sense!
