    Hoping For A Fill

I have heard that before and it makes absolutley no sense! How are you supposed to loose weight if the band is not functioning properly? I got my first fill exactly 4 weeks after surgery. Secong fill was 4 weeks after that. Between the first and second fills I GAINED weight. After reading some of the stories here, I was afraid my Dr. would be upset, and not give me that 2nd fill. First he laughed at me, then said what the heck do you think you're here for? That's why I'm going to give you a fill. If you have lost signicant weight, then you would not need a fill. Everything is between you and your Dr. For me, I don't understand the logic. If someone can explain to me why you would net get a fill because you gained weight, I would like to hear why!
  2. Just remember that you are in the healing phase of this, and really has nothing to do with weight loss yet. You need to get healthy and healed so the Dr can begin the real process.
  3. Please keep us posted. You have come a long way and one of the veterans. This is a situation we don't know that much about. I'm not even sure what band error ion actually is and what causes it. We're all hoping everything works out Ok for you.

    Soo Frustrated- Still No Restriction

1st, a 14 cc band s large. I have a 10 cc band. First fill was 4 cc, NOTHING! Second fill, was 2 cc, little change, came and went. Third fill was the charm, 7 cc total. That was last may. I just had a .5cc fill yesterday.
  5. I was told to get up and do as much walking as I could tolerate. Aside from that, I had to wait till the Dr cleared me, which was 1 week later,in my case.

    Night Sweats?

I'm a diabetic, but since my weight loss it has been completely reversed. When it was really bad, I used to get night sweats all the time. Never had one since.

    Red Zone?

I cannot eat breakfast either. Could not for over 6 months now. But I are a smoothie with fruit and a powder Protein base and Water, and add a protein supplement. I leave the house after having 40 gm of protein or breakfast. Get's me thru the day!

    Red Zone?

First, it is between you and your Dr. Second, you sound like you're all over the place, inconsistant. Water but not coffee? What else for Breakfast? Baked potatoe...for me, NEVER in one year! Having trouble right after fill with shake could be inflammation, which your dr should warn you about. That's why liquids. Potatoe chips, have never had a problem in a year...that's why they're not in my house! Again, between you and your Dr. If it was me I would slow it down, eat safe foods with no drinking, eat slowly, and take note time of day my band is tighter than others, which it is.

    Last Supper

I had to loose 15 lbs before surgery, or he would postpone the date. My surgery was on a Monday morning. I had my final meeting, weigh in with the surgeon the Friday before. All went well. Saturday, I had my last meal. I wanted to go somewhere I would never go to again. A all you can eat Chinese Buffet! I pigged out! That was a Saturday, so Sunday I fasted, no food at all except maybe one shake in the morning. Monday was surgey! That was over a year ago, have never been back there again. Why would I? What pay the money for one small portion?
  10. I have given up on what causes the band to get tighter and looser. I have heard every reason under the sun. Temperature, barometric pressure, stress, PMS, illness, etc, etc. I will say it happens to me. ALWAYS tighter first thing in the morning. Only thing I have proven to my self is the more I exercise it by eating, it gets looser. If I give it a rest by not eating solids for a while, it tightens right back up.
  11. Just got back from my appointment, first time in 3 months. Since my last visit, I lost 5 Lbs.! WooHoo!! He was very impressed with the the way I look and how my progress is going over the last 12 months. After one year, I am less than 10lbs from my goal. (chk my before/after in profile) so weight loss slows way down. Fat is not as prevalent as before. If you go by BMI's alone, I need to loose another 30 lbs. That's BS I said, he laughed and agreed. BMI's are only good to a point, then you have to start looking at body type and Body Fat %. He asked all the usual questions, how's your portion size, hunger between meals, etc, etc. I really didn't feel like I needed a fill, based upon his questions/criteria, but he gave me 1/2 cc fill just to see what happens.

    New And Have A Question

I drink a lot of water. But I cannot gulp it down like I used to. One swallow at a time, and NEVER with food.
  13. Remeber to ask for good drugs!!! Then all you need is a lazy-Boy recliner, a warm comforter, and the remote to the flat screen and you're all set!
  14. Thanks, we seem to be in the same boat. I'm hoping this small fill will gt me at and prerhaps my goal. Then maybe I will not need another fill for a long time, if ever. I really am happy where I'm at right now, being comfortably in that "Green Zone" day after day, but why not go a little further.
  15. Sounds like a cliche, but follow your Dr.'s directions. You don't want to spoil it now. Many Dr.'s are different. Mine didn't care what diet I followed, just loose 15 lbs in 2 weeks or he would postpone the surgery. Just so happens that Protein shakes work the best. Protein curbs hunger along with plenty of Water.
  16. Welcome.... I would only suggest....to be advised there are opinions here that range from the most negative to the most positive, and you have to learn to "Chew the meat and spit out the bones" so to speak. It may take a while to discern those who just don't get it, and those who do. Be careful of "Know It Alls" giving expert opinions when they are still newbies themselves and don't have a clue what they're talking about, only that is what they were told. I only say this because there are people I know who have come here, and then, within time, have left! Good Luck!

    The Journey Begins.

Depends upon your POV. I have a little sarcastic, humerous viewpoint, things they never tell you sort of stuff, or "You've got to be kidding!" Ironicly, after 1 year it all did make sense, in a distorted kind of way, and now I have to laugh when I read the majority of posts here by newbies. It's like getting thrown into the deep end of the pool before you know how to swim. Everybody told you how it will be, but there YOU are.
  18. I'm surprised you are experiencing all this so close to surgery. Issues with overheating usually don't affect people till after their 1 st fill, some later. I do not worry about the portion size of food I eat. The band does that for me. I get to a point and I know it is time to stop. If I was to measure it, it would the same, if not less, than what is recommeneded. But for those recently banded and those not in the Green Zone, you do not have the proper restriction to get this feedback, so you do need to measure and count calories.
  19. Sit and wait it out. If it is severe, I will start to hiccup first. Then start sliming. You know then it's coming back up. To speed it up, sip water at that point.

    Why Denied???

Yes....appeal. When you have comorbidities, as you do, you follow a different scale than other people.

    3 Days Po Advice

PLEASE!!!! don't get hung up over loosing weight right now. This is only Phase 1. It's all about you recovering from surgery, getting back to"Normal", as you were before surgery. Then you can progress into the next Phase. I know everyone is anxious, I was to. But I can tell you from experience it is a process and when everything comes together, you will not believe the results.

    I Need Some Advice...

I can't comment on the size of your band versus how much it is filled etc. That aside, you are not describing anything uncommon. Having a fill during surgery will usually subside because the surgey inflammation. Also people who get restriction initially, usually loose it. It can take some tweaking before it is right. Even when one is in the green zone, as I am, the band can be tighter on some days, and other days I feel as though I could eat anything. I have learned to live with these fluctuations, and can even control them by the types of food I eat. So you either need an additional fill(s) or you should lay off solid foods for a few days.
  23. Simple. To have my weight at a normal place, almost there

    Working Out After 12-Hour Shifts

It's been a while for me, but once I did. I belonged to a gym that had all the extras. After along shift, I'd get off work at 7 am,go to the gym and workout,THEN sit in the sauna to slow cook all the muscles, sweat out the impurities, and THEN soak in the whirlpool/hot tub!!!! HEAVEN!! After that it was breakfast ata diner, then home to bed! It really felt great. I almost miss those days.

    Diet Slip Up

Untill you are comfortably in that Grenn Zone, everything you do is on your effort. And if you're anything like me, I cannot do it on my own. That's why I needed WLS. So what else can some expect?
