    Do Fills Hurt?

My doc puts a gel on my skin that numbs it and then gives me the needle which I don't feel at all. He has me sit up and drink some water with the needle still inserted in case he needs to remove some fluid if I can't get the water down. This is what he has done for my two fills.
  6. My sugar went very high for a few days after surgery even though I wasn't eating. My lower and mid back were very painful to the point I could barely move at all for about 2 full days. I am 52. Just letting you know you are not alone. Things worked out in the end and I am off of metformin and insulin though my blood still runs a little high and the doc has started me on victoza recently. But overall my bs is lower and I am eating better than I was before. Hope to be off of all dibetic meds by spring if I lose enough weight.....

    Lost Motivation??

Just put the past behind you and start again. That is the beauty of the band. It is always there, waiting for you, even when you mess up. So you can pick right up and continue onward. Like you, I lost a lot of weight on the pre and post op diets. Things have slowed down considerably since then. I go in for my second fill tomorrow and I am hoping I get lucky and get some restriction.

    October Bandsters!!!

Thanks. I can feel the difference in my clothes but I still look the same in the mirror. Kind of a bummer actually. 51 pounds sounds like a lot but when you start out at 379 it really isn't very much.

    October Bandsters!!!

Haven't reported in for a while. Go for my 2nd fill on Tuesday. I have 5cc in a 14cc band. If I chew thoroughly I can eat about anything I want except for beef and pork. Have managed to lose 51 pounds by dieting and a little walking. Gonna ask the doc if I can lift weights when I see him.

    Hick Ups

If I eat to fast or don't chew well enough I get the hiccups also.
  13. Lapband porn Looks painful though............
  14. That is what I had to do... and boy did it BURN!
  15. I thought my port had moved in relation to my incision scar. But then I realized that it is just the loose skin sagging around it.
  16. Man....... that is some major weight loss there!
  17. I have had two cokes since the 3rd of October. Drank slowly........ no problems.
  18. I have hiccuped a few times and it is always when I don't chew my food enough.
  19. I guess you can justify anything.
  20. IVC filters are permanent now. It makes no sense to get a temp one. It will protect you the rest of your life. Also don't get your medical advice from any of us. Get the info from your doctor and decide for yourself. Regardless, good luck.
  21. Obese people are at a higher risk for blood clots. The alternative to not getting one can be pretty grim.

    October Bandsters!!!

For Thanksgiving I had sardines, protein shakes and the crumbs from the bottom of a bag of potato chips.. Better than nothing.
  23. I just got my first fill today. I have a 14cc band that had 3cc's in it from surgery. The surgeon added 2cc's today and then I drank some water, no problem. My next adjustment is on 1-10-12. That seems like a long time between fills.

How To Deal With Lap Band Haters?

Just ignore people like that. Sometimes silence can work wonders.
