Lack of protein is not always the reason for hair loss. Sometimes just being put under for surgery will do the trick. I have been losing hair for about three months now. I get enough protein and take biotin and it hasn't stopped yet. Thankfully I had a lot to begin with. Doc says it may take 12-18 months for your hair to recover completely.

I would think that stretching your pouch would involve a lot of pbing and vomiting.

Bad Experience Already :(
m1aman replied to pattyrg15's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am glad you feel better and I am sorry you went through that! But I gotta say, that sounds like a major boo boo on the doctors part. I am not sure I would feel comfortable under his care with that kind of mistake. -
I didn't/don't carry much fat in that area so I am not seeing any benefits to date. But I assume it is always the same size, it is just a matter of exposure to daylight or not.

What Is The Problem Taking Byetta Shots After Lap-Band?
m1aman replied to Dixie Rose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is no way byetta could cause the band to erode. You inject byetta into the fat in your lower abdomen, just under the skin, like insulin. It has nothing to do with the band whatsoever. It does make SOME people a little nauseous where they tend to eat less. This is for people with or without a lapband. If you are having trouble getting your Protein and nutrition in with the lapband the byetta could make it harder since MOST people tend to eat less. I have taken byetta and i have a lapband. I am not a medical professional. -
I was photo-phobic even before I got fat. So there aren't a lot of pics of me from childhood on. But no, I don't like seeing pictures of my fat self, now or then.

I'm like you man. The weight loss has created a nice set of boobies on me. Not something I was thinking about with weight loss. If I ever want to wear a snug tshirt again I will have to have surgery. I don't think bench presses and flys are going to fix this.

Both Wylers and Hawaiian Punch make a sugar free mix in the little singles packets. I really like the Hawaiian Punch flavors -

Heavy Drinker Wants To Keep Drinking, But How?
m1aman replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink before during and after eating with no problems. I drink carbonated drinks with no problems. That may or may not work for you. The main thing to remember is don't take medical advice from anyone on this site. There are a couple on here who seem to think they are qualified to give it. -
How many per day? Everybody is different. I try to keep mine below 15 per meal to keep my blood sugar under control.
-
To the OP....... I certainly can't relate to where you are because you have lost twice the weight I have! That is just unreal. I hope I can say the same some day. Great job!

Terrified To Get My First Fill This Week!
m1aman replied to daisychains7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc numbs the area before he sticks the needle in. Then he has me sit up and hold it while I drink some water. It doesn't hurt at all. -
I probably wouldn't tell unless it got very serious. But then again, if they were sharing personal secrets with me I might open up sooner.
-
Me either. Just tell me what my goals are...... calories, protein etc., and I will figure out how to get there. It is hard to eat for both the band and diabetes. For me anyway.
-
Not everybody has a nutritionist/dietician.
-
100 pounds is very impressive. You have lost a whole person!

I agree. I think when doctors don't know what has caused something they start looking for excuses. "We don't know why your band slipped, but since you stated you drank sodas we will blame that." I also think I could find it "somewhere" on the internet to back up just about any claim made about lap bands. Doctors are still learning about the band and I think they are a long way from being experts. I, and probably you, have read far too many post on this site with peoples doctors telling them completely different things from another's doctor. Bottom line is there are still a lot of unknowns.

I have lost over 70 pounds and I do feel a little less "insulated" than I used to. The true test will be when July and August hit. But to be honest I have always been hot natured and sweated even when I weighed 175 pounds.

Why would it stretch the pouch when liquids pass right through the band and go to the main stomach?

I have been drinking and eating since day 1 with only one backfire. Luckily I was in the kitchen when it happened. Everybody is different. -

What Vitamins Do You Take
m1aman replied to Ami Faught Crittenden's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Biotin is in the Vitamin section. Good for hair, nails and skin they say.
