Scales At My Primary Drs Office
m1aman replied to Boniluuu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You want to go by the scale that is calibrated regularly. If you buy your own scale are you going to have it calibrated every 3 months? -
My doc said let come off on it's own.

My day wasn't as tasty as you guys. I had 3 protein shakes and a couple of Crystal Lights.

I think that guys tend to look at getting the band as weakness. A real man would just "suck it up" and exercise and diet like a man would do. Plus guys just like to give each other a hard time in general. My friends and I are always riding each other about something it seems. Just my view.......

I'm sorry but I don't see anything normal about crying after surgery. My back was killing me, but other than that I felt relieved I had finally taken the first step to better health. It never occurred to me to cry. Maybe it is just a girl thing.

Some people lose hair after being put under for surgery. I don't think protein will help that part but it might help it bounce back. About all you can do is get your protein in, take biotin. Someone mentioned zinc one time, but I don't know anything about that.

Good luck. I hope everything goes well for you!

Then why doesn't the coke eat through the wall of the rest of your stomach? (Maybe it does, I don't know) The coke would be sitting in the main chamber much longer than the moment or two it is above the band. As far as the stomach dieing under the band..... I don't know if it is true or not but I will take your word for it. It seems to me that doctors shouldn't be doing the surgery though if they know this is going to happen. Anyway that is a separate issue than the coke causing erosion. Regardless, you are talking about stomach erosion and the previous post stated something to effect that coke would erode the band. My point I made is that the band does not erode. It is the stomach wall that erodes. Not the band. Anyway I will ask my doc tomorrow, if I don't forget, about the "skin" dieing under the band. That is some scary stuff to think about. Thanks for responding.

Good luck! It is an exciting day I well remember!

Had First Fill Last Week, Painful Bruising!
m1aman replied to BLING78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't believe you should normally have brusing and soreness from a fill. I have never had either and the most that has happened was a small spot of blood about the size of the needle. I also have to be on liquids for 24 hours and then mushy food for 24 hours. Are you normally prone to bruising? -
That is my drink of choice also. Mostly because they are low carb (i'm a type 2 diabetic) and taste pretty decent.

Okay now I understand. Hopefully we can work it out. -
6 Yrs....160 Lbs Less Of Me!
m1aman replied to SteveFrett's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is a lot of weight to lose. And to think many doctors tell their patients the band won't help with big time weight loss. -

Stop asking me how much weight I've lost!
m1aman replied to tripletmomma2000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't like people talking about my weight or my health for that matter. I finally just started telling people I am not telling anyone how much I weigh or how much weight I've lost. That has always ended the conversation and makes them feel uncomfortable. Mission accomplished! -
All of the weight I have lost has been just by eating less. I haven't really watched what I eat or exercised. I do make sure I get my protein, fluids and eat low carb, mostly. Haven't made any effort to track calories or fat. I have just been coasting along. But the last two months I have only lost about 5-6 pounds so I think the "free ride" is coming to an end. It was fun while it lasted.

The coke never touches your band. How can it erode it?
-
I don't have any problems on my side or stomach.

I Think The Free Ride Is Coming To An End.....
m1aman replied to m1aman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, I am thinking it is time to start walking if my broken back can take it. Might need to tighten up on the carbs also to help with my blood sugar. I'm coming up on being banded a year on Oct. 3rd and I would like to reach 100 pounds down by then. I think I can make it if I just buckle down. Or at least I can get close.. -

Anyone Ever Failed The Psych Exam? Or Is It Just Me!
m1aman replied to Christina2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a different experience I had. My doc just asked if I understood what the band was all about and made sure I knew what I was getting into. Took about 10 minutes and there was no test. Just informal conversation..... I hope it works out for you! -
Trying To Sway Me Towards A Sleeve?
m1aman replied to Mystie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of folks on here have lost over a hundred pounds. I should lose close to a hundred within my first year as well. I think the idea you don't lose much weight with the band is a myth that won't die for some reason. Just my opinion. -
I don't want to scare you but I see you were just banded. Sometimes it can take a few months for hair loss to start after surgery
