I was also banded on thursday. I am still in some pain but it is getting better. But my big worry is that I am starting to feel sick ( sore throat getting worse and pain in lungs when breathing) I called my lap band office and they just said to go see my primary dr. if it gets worse. I am wondering if anyone else got a little sick after surgery?

What Are You Most Looking Forward To?
Sombra1718 replied to fericito's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I want to have children. I imagine telling them that I dreamt about them and loved them before they were even born and did one of the hardest things I have ever had to do so that I could have them. -
Buyers Remorse?
Sombra1718 replied to Mlivingston04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same place. I have been running on a very dissociated motivation for the last couple of months. Not very excited about the band and sad because I had to get it. But before I started feeling like this I had done tons of research and I was very motivated to eat right and embrace the band. I just feel bad now about getting it but I wonder how much of my depression comes from the intense pain of the surgery and the fact that I have not actually eaten any solid food in a month. I hope I can be happy again and be happy that I got this band. -
Wheres My June Bandsters??

I was wondering if you all were told to keep drinking protein shakes right after surgery. That is something I don't remember being mentioned by my Dr.s. I'm only two days post op but I am not getting any protein on the clear liquid diet. -
2Nd Day Post Op
Sombra1718 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my second day post op. my shoulder and gas pains are pretty intense. I went to my follow up apt. this morning and everything seems to be ok other than a slight fever. They said it is normal but if it gets up to 101 then I need to go to the hospital. Congrats on your lap band! I'm glad you are feeling pretty good. -
Had surgery yesterday morning. They also fixed a hernia. The gas is not too bad but I am having a lot of pain near an incision. It aches when I am sitting but if I move at all it feels like my insides are ripping. Did anyone else feel like that?

Im One Of The Banded Now!

Thanks you guys I was worried that something was wrong. -
I have surgery at six. I didn't think I would be, but I am scared. My dad got severe brain damage during surgery when I was ten. He never remembered who he was or anyone else. He lived with the mental capacity of a three year old until he died in 2009. I know because the circumstance is completely different that the same won't happen to me but I am still scared. I hope this is worth it. I have worked hard to get to this. I have taken a lot of comfort from knowing that you all are out there.

I have the same amount of time. I'm not even trying to sleep. I bet the migraine does have to do with lack of food...or stress. I have not felt sick during my whole three week liquid diet until today. I'm hungry and nervous so I think my stomach is acting up because of that.

My surgery is on the 7th and coming quickly. I have done well on my three week pre op diet and have lost 21lbs. But I am concerned because everyone talks about how excited they are and I don't feel that excited. People seem to be motivated to start losing the weight as soon as possible but for me all I can think about is how badly I want to try to eat my favorite food if I can after surgery. I don't know why I feel this way I think it has just taken me so long to get here that I have lost focus. Did anyone else feel like this? (disclaimer: I will have this surgery no matter what and I am doing well and I know that I am changing my lifestyle from the old one to a new one)

I am from Santa Fe but I would definitely do the drive.

Who Is Pre Op Dieting Over Memorial Day??
Sombra1718 replied to Bamabander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 days into my three week liquid diet. I will admit I have cheated a bit by having a small bite out of what ever my boyfriend is eating that day and I hope that won't ruin it for me. I have had a very hard time with this diet. I have list 15lbs so far. Not that I am hungry... I just have the worst cravings. I too am going to stay home while my boyfriend goes to a barbecue. -
What Does It Feel Like To Eat Solids?
Sombra1718 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not have my band yet but will have it on the 7th of June. I was wondering what it felt like to eat solids the first time after being banded and also what it felt like after a fill? I'm really curious about tha physical sensations. And when people say full is that the type of full that makes you not want to eat another bite? Or is it more of "I no longer feel hunger pain" type of full? -

What Does It Feel Like To Eat Solids?
Sombra1718 replied to Sombra1718's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In a way I am relieved to hear it feels different after the band. I will not lie but I am scared because I have not heard from anyone who seems to have started the way I am starting. It seems that a lot of people are starting out at a lower weight (although that is not always the case). I am at 351lbs. But what really scares me is that I am not this way because I was ever hungry. I have the self control of a drug addict when it comes to food cravings. Now during my liquid diet I am sad because I miss food and I am afraid that I will never be happy again just eating a small amount of it at a time. But i am also unhappy with my life. I can't have kids at this weight...clothes are hard to but and expensive and I feel no pride in myself. I am doing well on the liquid diet but I am so sad. I'm not usually this negative and I have been posting about this for a week but I just want to know if anyone started like me? -
Wheres My June Bandsters??
Sombra1718 replied to mcuevas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to drink two Protein shakes per day and can have one cup of non-cream Soup or instead of soup low fat cottage cheese. I am also allowed one small serving of sugar free fat free Jello, yogurt, or pudding. I'm on day 7. Still having a really hard time with awful cravings but I am down 10 lbs so far so that is good. Have you started yet? If so how is it going? -

I'm june 7 th and I'm on day 6 of my three week liquid diet. I am starting at 351lbs but have probably lost around 10 lbs this week. It has been really hard for me. I have been in mourning for my old lifestyle. I am feeling a little better everyday. I spend a ton of time on this site and it has helped a lot. I get on when ever I am super depressed about everything. I would live to have a fellow June buddy to go through this with. -
I usually cook it for more than one person and I am not much for measuring. I use 1 can of fat free or low fat refrained beans. You could also purée your own beans. Then I add 1 can of fat free chicken broth ( or bullion cube with water) and mix over the stove. I like a lot of pepper and some cumin for flavor. I will also sometimes put a small spoon of fat free sour cream or a small bit of shredded cheese in my bowl of soup but it is just as good without.

I absolutely love bean soup!!! I can't wait till I can have some.

Problem With Protein Shakes
Sombra1718 replied to Scooby_Who's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I was wondering...do we have to do the protein shakes always? When I am restricted will I be able to get my protein without the shakes? I don't think I can handle more than a few months of them. I have tried four different kinds now and I loathe all of them. I just hold my breath and try to get them down. -
I am 25 years old from New Mexico. I am currently on my first week of liquid diet and have two more to go. My starting weight is 351lbs (5"5') and I have an ultimate goal of 180lbs. Eating is a very self soothing activity for me and has been a problem ever since I was born. I don't know what it is like to be in a normal weight range. All I know is that food was the only true, and consistent happiness in my life. But I want to be healthy, I want to feel beautiful, and most of all I want to have children. I am very dedicated to this lapband journey but I would love some support from someone who has gone through or is going through the same. Ashley

I have to have two protein shakes per day and either one cup of soup or 1 cup of low fat cottage cheese. I can have one snack of fat free, sugar free pudding, yogurt, or jello. Sugar free drinks and veggie juice is ok too. I hate the protein drinks though. They make me very nauseous and even though I am not supposed to chug anything I have to chug them or I get sick. I have tried two different types so far but both are pretty bad. But it seems like most people like them better than I do.
