    Charlotte NC- Dr. Keith Gersin

As someone who once worked with Keith, I will tell you that he is a terrific surgeon. Detail oriented, empathetic and truly ethical at all times. You could not choose a better surgeon in the world. He has just started his band practice in Charlotte, but he is an amazing laparoscopic surgeon. Though sometimes quirky, he is always skillful!

    Dr. Trace Curry- Cincinnati Ohio

i was not banded with Dr. Curry, but he has been my follow up surgeon since November of this year. his staff has been terrific, erin was awesome helping me make food choices (i am a vegetarian--so it can get rough). i can not say enough nice things about his professionalism and the friendly staff at the front. i am looking forward to seeing them again when i need them!

    2008 Challenge

I saw this really cook thing by Nike-granted it was their ever consuming marketing push-but it said something like: I am making a resolution to ________________________ by ________ 2008 or I will ________________ for _______________. the marketing one said " to run a 5K by june or i will give up my cell phone for one year " I thought that was good motivation. So in keeping with my need to be accountable to something--- I AM MAKING A RESOLUTION TO RUN 4 MILES A DAY, THREE DAYS A WEEK-once i have reached that training goal (end of march)-or I WILL GIVE UP MY DVR FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR. :omg: that means i would have to give up my reruns of late night general hospital during the day. i will have to schedule my runs once i get back to work at some point. yeah. this is serious. no more excuses for my fat butt to be 25 pounds from goal. this is it kiddos

    Couch to 5K

i was training for a 5K last summer and broke my heel. my ortho surgeon has suggested i keep off the treadmill. i have been on the elliptical for months now (bored to tears!). i started running on the track at our rec and that seems to work. plus i went and got new shoes. for christmas i got a new i pod, so i think i am going to get my little nike running kit for it and have a go at this again. i DO NOT run in Nike...at all. i broke my heel in those stupid shox. my brother said he got a little neoprene usb cover for the sensor and put it on his laces (he is a saucony guy, i am on asics right now). so starting monday---it is time for me to try this again. i hope posting here keeps me accountable.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

well i am not losing at all in the last two weeks, but i am restricted can you say stress? i am trying quite hard to talk myself into a fill----but i kind of enjoy eating a few things i normally wouldn't (see you are still always fat in your head). i have got to get my mind right, my motivation in check, and get moving just had to get that out.
  6. Nina maybe an adjustment would boost your weight loss again? I know I seem to loose more right after an adjustment. A few days a little tight are good for me. be well. miss banster
  7. You can always get your records and try somewhere else.....there is no reason the psych claim should not be so far outstanding, but you can always take the report elsewhere. Good Luck to you and DO NOT GIVE UP!!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

that is beyond pb-that is full on puking and it is the worst. chicken gets me every-single-time, so i stopped eating it. tuna actually does the same thing, ick. be careful and go slow slow slow, that is all you can do :girl_hug:

a triathalon---is pushing it for me but i feel you on the goals!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

i was reading back about the fills....you know i got too tight for awhile and being stuck with every meal made my esophagus swell a bit....NOT FUN. so i think if you are losing, let it be. if you are not losing, but have restriction-well then you need to evaluate what you eat. i too have a 28 day calorie cycle~so my non medical mind assumes there is a connection. anyway, does anyone have any good suggestions for lunches. i prefer to eat at work, but i am bored with my usuals. suggestions?

so i started running it has been killing my shins, but no where near as bad as it was 30+ pounds ago when i tried. i am hoping to push myself into a 5K this year. just a goal i am posting to hold myself accountable. hope all is well with you all.

    Eating and drinking

i too was told i could drink right up until i was going to eat. i have learned if i drink something too cold it sort of closes me up, so warm helps. i also am a cheater--i take a small sip right after i eat to make sure it is moving (i am paranoid to get stuck-i hate it) so if it moves a bit i know i can stop. usually an hour later i drink a glass of water--made it a habit so it helps to get my water down for the day.

    columbus ohio lapband surgeon?

i would like to say that i too feel like i come here for support, but i have to defend the fact that i went to Cincinnati Weight Loss Center. i actually tend to stay out of the OHIO forum these days because it has become so negative and personal. objective/subjective is in the eye of the beholder, i know that i feel that the only opinions i read about the practice that has helped me regain my life and confidence are negative and based on speculation not experience. so i would suggest that someone seeks out patients of Cincinnati Weight Loss not people with opinions based in theory or competing doctors. :Banane20:

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

well i am having one heck of a day did i mention that i generally do not eat meat? yeah....that makes this fun. i do eat some fish-the person above who said crab--that is something that is TERRIFIC for you. i know if i ate cheese and crab, i would be STUCK STUCK STUCK. my band is funny about texture. it is like it does not move unless i have some form of fiber, but not beans. the skin of beans just kills me everytime. i love beans too. so today i ate a zuchini and a some steamed carrots, though not too soft. it gags me to death if it is too soft. anyway, i am just rambling along because i am frustrated today. the joy of this, i know! oh yeah and i cannot change my ticker because i forgot my password LOL!!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

you know, i can eat whatever i want for like 2 days i crave all kinds of craziness then when old aunt flo arrives TIGHT AS CAN BE for at least 36 hours if not 48 a few other people have said the same thing at support, so my educated assumption would be that hormones are running amuk.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

hey paige i talked to one of the girls at cincy weight loss today and she said they are revisiting allowing other people in for a fee. it is included in the amount we pay for surgery so it would not be fair to "outsiders", this is one of those plus side things for those of us who went down there. she said they see the need for all banded folks to be able to network and share the experience, they were just worried about giving information to patients who are not under their care and about how all of us would feel. sorry to ramble on and on...but they are talking about it before next months meetings. just thought i would give you the heads up. hope all is well with you ms

i like it because it is all shiny and new and i do not use the personal trainers right now i want to focus on a ROUTINE (i am a total creature of habit) first...so i am doing the cardio-elliptical. i am by far not cute at this point, so on a self esteem level---i am out of my league there. though i am not the only "soccer mom" type in the early evenings :paranoid it is huge and i have not been brave enough to go near the POOL LOL!

Anyone from dayton area a member of....

i joined the golds gym in west chester talk about intimidating.....i do love the elliptical machines though, it is better on my knees than a treadmill. i have not braved the weights yet. i am sure i will never be one of those gym chics LOL!! i do know that my little cheapy mp3 player has saved me in there, i suggest one if you do not have one. it helps me zone out.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

yeah, i did not have stitches. just some dissolving stitches and some glue i believe. my scars are tiny---not that it matters in the world of stretch marks that is my stomach :scared: i cannot fix this ticker, but i lost another 2 pounds since 1/4 woo hoo!!

    Husbands

you know my DH has been really weird as of late he thinks as soon as i get "Skinny" i will leave him one. i was way skinny when we started dating and i do not intend to ever be that skinny again. two. are you serious? i think their insecurities are just as relevant as our inner "fat" girls....our weight protected them from their jealousy too. as for the $$ portion of this...who am i to say anything. $$ and how to spend it and where it goes is a constant battle at my house. constant. lucky for me, this came out of my own bonus from work so i do not hear too much about it. except when the vacation for this year topic comes up. ..maybe that's where i will find this man i am leaving for LOL!... empathy and hugs for you.

i think the still losing pant sizes but plateau weight loss has been the weirdest thing for me!! but i will sure take it!
  23. Hello and welcome. You know, I was not too restricted at first and still losing. My doc said if I was still losing and eating properly I did not need to be over restricted for the band to work. I pushed it and ended up too tight for about a week, but in the end worked it out. Now for the soda....sounds like you need to see your doc soon. I know I was instructed not to drink any soda or carbonated beverages because of possible discomfort and overinflating the stomach which could lead to a slip. Which I must confess is my biggest fear. Finding the "sweet spot" with adjustments took a few fills for me, I hope you do well. Trust us when we say you will know as soon as you are restricted. It makes me so happy to feel it sometimes, because then I know this may actually work!!
  24. I second a GOOD LUCK and welcome to the other side Miss MINDFUL!!! About your questions with the cream soups---I made tomato creamier with a dash of heavy cream and sometimes I would add a little parmesean & oregano to give it some flavor. I really was not hungry during the liquid phase--more bored than anything.

self pay low bmi and losing really slow here.... but i eat no breads whatsoever--they stick like glue! i have spurts of loss...last month i did not lose one pound, but i went down a pant size. i was totally frustrated with it. i started working out this week when i joined the gym again. i hope to stay motivated. i really want to be in single digit pants. vanity, i know...it gets the best of me right now. i will take motivation in any form though.
