Last night I worked late, it was cold and I just wanted something different. Please tell me was eating a cup of cashew chicken (no celery) that bad? It was yummy and I did not eat too many nuts, just a few. My fitness pal charged me less than 300 calories for it and it had lots of Protein. Am I justifying? Thanks

Happy Camper replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I am so glad for you, this is now the start for you to begin your new life. Take care and my best to you. -
Cheri, Thank you so much for your post here. Seriously of all the advise, conversations, examples and discussions I have read and participated in for me - you just nailed it. Absolutely on point. I just read aloud to my hubby and he fully agrees. I am on regular food and definitely needed to hear you here. I do want to be a normal person and this almost feels freeing. I will be successful. Thanks again for reaching out and sharing. This morning I hit 70 lbs down, and received you words...it is going to be a great day. Take care, Sandy

What Are Some On Your Mini Goals?
Happy Camper replied to Luisa4ever21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
SKCunningham, Great points about the clothes. So tired of boxes in storage and honestly now, I am no longer saving. If they do not fit or look great and are in style they go. I LOVE crossing my legs like a lady. It has been longer than 20 years and I find myself doing it all the time! Keep up all the good work! PS just noticed this was in the twenties group sorry I am twice that age but I do have a 24 year old beautiful daughter -
Sick On Stomach Since I Began
Happy Camper replied to strudel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Strudel it becomes a circle. You feel better, start walking, sip you fluids then you start to feel better, walk a little more (need to clear your lungs), so on. You should start to feel better. Like Diva said you may need a PPI if you are not taking anything as well. If you do not start to feel better OR begin to feel worse time to call doc. Take care of you. -

Insides Feel Weird
Happy Camper replied to Joiebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a drain and developed an abscess which followed the drain line. I would call doc and let them know. I do not recall any feeling of insides moving around. Let us know how you do. And keep up the great work on your weight loss! -
Hi Lissa thanks I made sure no MSG. They probably do use sugar did not think about that. I am on all regular food, no leak abscess with second surgery at 2 weeks post sleeve. All going well however , no regrets. Good to hear about celery. Thanks will keep it as a treat only. Hope you are doing well also after your loss.

Why Am I Feeling Light Headed?
Happy Camper replied to Bcole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Lissa, dehydration may be sneaking in if you are not getting your fluids in or another concern could be your potassium level. Good to call doc and let them guide you. Best to you. -

How Different We Really Are
Happy Camper replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amanda you and I are very similar. 5'10" started 303 size 22/24. Current 237 pants size 18 shirt, 2XL (busty) - would like to be 170. The stats say I should weigh like 145 just not sure that is realistic. Good luck all! -
Tried A New Protein Drink Today
Happy Camper replied to DebiC's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I agree with all they are my favorite by far. My hubby thinks they taste a lot like a little thicker chocolate milk he does low carb and has lost 40 lbs. They are a part of our regular pantry items and will be forever. I thought they were specific to costco ShoeLover, I just found them on-line but they are a little more expensive $28 a case. Yeah for premier! -
Hey UXgrrl, First happy birthday! I went to sushi with my daughter on Wednesday. We ordered the sushi with light brown rice. Love spicy tuna. Then we used chopsticks and ate the middle without the seaweed or much rice so we were able to eat two different rolls she has lap band. Also try cucumber salad, includes crab or shrimp generally. It was awesome. My daughter said she goes to one place where they will make sushi without rice, but darn I am having brain fade and do not recall the name of the place. Maybe just ask? Have fun.

At A Stall....how Many Calories Do You Take In A Day?
Happy Camper replied to x4achange's topic in Food and Nutrition
Hi, My doc put me on 1000 a day and gave me a specific diet to follow. Essentially each meal is 250 calories. You might want to stick with a routine meaning don't try new foods for a while. Stick with 1000 calories and drink Water. I find when I hit my liquids with water primarily, I do best. Also you might want to substitute Protein drink for a meal or two daily. LilMissDiva has posted her boot camp, I have read folks do well on it. Best of luck to you. -
Surgery Less Than 36 Hours Away! Whew...nervous
Happy Camper replied to Joiebean's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Joiebean you will do great. Keep the mental focus positive, and just follow the doctors guidelines to the "T" and you will be successful. Everyone reminds us, get the fluids in -it really is most important in the first few weeks. The Protein and food will come, but you will not feel well if you get dehydrated. Please, listen to your body! Sending positive thoughts and prayers. Jkwkgrl - wow, that is a lot to think about *your dad* just as you are preparing for surgery. Someone once said to me "how many obese elderly do you see, let alone super obese?" that was my "AH HA" moment. You did the right thing for you and your family. Hope your dad is doing well, maybe he can just start by moving a little to feel better? Smiles all - keep positive, Sandy -
My 25 year old daughter has had one for two years. Surgery was done at UC San Francisco and she has done wonderfully. I am very nervous for her future health however...she made her own choice. I just pray for no future complications.

Being Told By Everyone How Much Better Gastric Bypass Is ...
Happy Camper replied to Catracks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Escake sorry, so very sorry about your daughter. Mine had the lap band and her success was my motivation to do something. After one appointment and researching, my decision was based on many of the factors others have listed. Good luck to you hugs and prayers as the next couple of weeks will be difficult, mentally and physically for you. Glad you have support with hubby. Sandy -
Hiccups And Gas Pain?
Happy Camper replied to hadouni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hiccups for me come when I eat too fast, maybe try slowing down? I use chopsticks and read this forum during dinner which is when I eat with my family and my guys both eat very fast. By distracting my-self I find I can slow down and take the full 30 mins to eat. Best to you.. -
Some doctors do not require a pre-op diet. The main reason is so that your fatty liver can shrink so they do not nick it when moving it around to get to the stomach. It makes for a better surgery as I understand it. Going off the prescribed menu is not that bad, but I would advise not doing so from this point forward. Your stomach will be like a baby's stomach and you really need to follow the eating guidelines so that you allow your stomach the time to heal properly. Complications can happen if you follow the guidelines but, you certainly do not want to increase your odds for issues down the road. Just know, it does get better and those shakes will become part of your diet NOT your whole daily diet. Hang in there and best of luck on your journey with your new tool!

That is fantastic! Honestly you look so healthy like you are about done, not sure where another 40 lbs will come from. Love the sleeve and our work!

Trouble With Incisions At 2+ Weeks?
Happy Camper replied to LoserMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw my surgeon for the first time Friday since my surgery. He looked at the picture of my abscess and said because of me they now prescribe antibiotics pre and post surgery. When he saw the "scab" where the tube was, he said the infection could not get out therefore it went inward. Definitely have someone look at it now. -
Amen! Agree 100 percent Lissa
