  1. That is awesome!! I was banded on 3/10. Itoo hope my progression goes as quickly and smoothly as yours did. Great job!
  2. Thanks Jim for the info!! That is reassuring. I am having my surgery first thing tomorrow am. I have to be at the hospital at 6:45am!! ughhhh....early!! I have a lot of emotions goin gon right now, like I am sure many people do. I am excited, nervous, scared, unsure, & certain all at one time. I am in disbelief that the day has finally arrived. One thing that I wonder is will I always feel like I have "something" in my stomach, or do I not even notice the lapband? Probably sounds like a crazy question! I am glad you are doing so well! Keep up the great work and speedy recovery.
  3. Whew, the pre op diet is hard. Especially when 95% of the commercials you see on tv are food related!

    Need a Little Encouragement

Heavenlei, don't let those people pull you down! You have to do what YOU think is best. That is why I chose not to tell people (except for my husband, mom and a few other select people) about my surgery. I may tell them after the fact, but didn't want to do it before. I didn't want to hear their opinions! I am due to be banded on 3/10. I am excited, but also nervous. I secretly wonder if I am making the right decision, but then I think more about it and know I am! My weight has always been up and down. I am tired of it. I finally want the extra help I need to look the way I want! You can do it!!! Hang in there and keep your head high!! Good luck on the 11th! 5. Thanks for the suggestions 54Shirley. Excellent idea. I will try it!
  6. Thanks Novena for the words of encouragement. I hope your cold improved and you were able to have your surgery. I am starting to feel a little better. Unfortunately, I don't have extra time that I need to get extra sleep. I know that would help more than anything. I called my surgeon yesterday. They said that as long as I didn't have a fever, chills and my lungs were clear the day of surgery I would probably be ok. Fortunately, my lungs are clear, I don't have a fever or chills. I think I will be ok. I still have congestion and a cough, but at least am starting to see the light. I hope you are feeling ok and hopefully recovering from being banded!!!

When to plan to return to work

I am being banded on Thursday, 3/10. I am taking off work from 3/10 until 3/28. This was my surgeon's recommendation. He said he felt that you shouldn't go back to work until off clear liquids, because you feel so rough. I have over three months sick leave so I have more than enough time.
  8. Oh man!! I am in the same boat! My surgery is on thursday, march 10th. I have had this "cold" for 2 and a half weeks now. I have been on antibiotics, mucinex D, robitussin and benadryl. Nothing is helping. I am so scared they will cancel my surgery!!! I have 3 days left to rid this cold!!!! Any suggestions???? I am miserable, but more imporantly....freaking out!!!! Littledutchee

    Banded This Morning!

Wow JennEdge!! Glad to hear you are doing so well. My surgery is scheduled for 3/10/11. I am excited, but a little nervous. It is good to hear about your positive experience. Make sure you don't over do it though! Take care.

    NEVER, NEVER AGAIN....

I totally agree! Just because one procedure doesn't work for one person doesn't mean it won't work for another. It is disheartening to log on and see people post that the LapBand will not work or that everyone gains their weight back, etc. The LapBand is a TOOL, not a CURE!!!! Too many people are having these procedures thinking they will instantly drop the weight with no effort and will always keep it off. This is a huge misconception! It's a shame. Any weight loss surgery means a life style change. If people aren't going to change the habits that got them into the situation, then why go through all of the trouble, expense, pain, and months of preparation to have the surgery??!! I am set to have my LapBand Surgery on 3/10/11. I am excited to begin the journey to a healthier, better self image, but I am also a little scared. I know it is going to be hard work and a long journey. Good luck to everyone who has a weight loss surgey! You can do it!
