How to get an unfill / defill in Toronto Ontario area - former CIBO patient
skatie posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi - long story short, I had a lapband put in by CIBO in Toronto over 10 years ago. We all know they went bankrupt, and I probably haven't had any fills/ unfill / care in over 7 years. Recently I'm finding the band too tight and throw up several times a week and most of the weight I lost has been gained back as I can't eat the good foods as I can't digest them. I've asked my family doc to refer me to the original surgeon Dr. Hong who I recall doing my surgery as I think I'd like to get it out. Its been over a month and I'm still waiting to hear from his office. In the meantime I'd really like to get a defill just to help me get in a better place to get better food in me and stop the throwing up when I get stuck. I can't even think about eating out in a restaurant or with friends now as I fear I'll have to run to bathroom and get unstuck! So I'm looking for someone in central Toronto area that would be willing to do a defill for me. After CIBO went under I was getting some adjustments with a nurse that was helping out but I've lost touch with her. Any advice on where to go or who to contact?? Thanks -

I know this will sound weird, but I actually start to feel pressure at top of my throat and behind my eyeballs when I know I've gotten to the full stage. The nutritionist looks at me strange when I tell her that, but that seems to be my trigger.

Anyone banded from the CIBO clinic in Toronto, Canada?
skatie replied to OttawaMommy's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes, I was banded there in November - everything went well and follow up has been great. Can't wait til I hit my sweet spot with restriction, but as far as the surgery and pre and post op have been, CIBO has been great. -
hiw long after surgery were you sore?

My surgery was on a Monday and I needed help getting in and out of bed and chairs for a couple of days and also had some shoulder gas pains. By that Friday I felt a ton better and by being able to walk more, the gas pains went away and every day as I healed, I was able to get up and down without problems. Give it a week. Good Luck -
November 2010 Bandsters - post op

Hi - new here, but have been lurking for months. I too am a bit frustrated by lack of weight loss - started at 200lbs and am down 15 since Nov 8 surgery. I've had 3 fills and am at 5.5cc in a 9 band. I go for another fill in a couple of weeks and hope to be closer to sweet spot. I have felt a couple of times a big lump in bottom of throat when swallowed meat without chewing properly - think this is a stuck feeling? I read on the boards once that if you stand up and bend over and grab your ankles (if you can find them LOL), that helps getting unstuck and it really did work for me! I also feel an aching pain behind my eyes and top of throat when I feel full or have eaten too fast, but my mental state still hasn't changed from old habits and I find I can still carry on eating even tho I know that's a warning sign. Surgeon says that consistent weight loss will not happen until I feel true restriction which he doesn't think I'm at yet. I know I need more daily protein and exercise, so that will be my focus. I do feel excited about being down a pant and bra size, and my hip pain is a lot less even with just 15lb off, but will need to work at getting a more consistent weight loss going!
