how you feel after being banded
TexasNurseMom replied to littledutchee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will go away bibwas very burpy the first week or so but am 4 weeks out now and much better. My throat was very sore and uncomfortable. I think it was partly swelling and gas and partly throat irritation from the intubation and anesthesia. It will get better hang in there! -

Surgery date moved UP....need a pep talk (long, sorry)
TexasNurseMom replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say go for it. I was banded 4 weeks ago and feel great. I kinda had a freak out too when I got my surgery date Bain e I was paying for it myself instead of insurance. I had it ony 2 weeks after we initial consult. It has been one ofthe best things I have ever done. I had some gas the first few days and it was very uncomfortable. But ow I am on pretty much regular foods, am exercising which I never could do before and already getting into clothes I couldn't wear before. So. I think you should do it! -
one less bad food on my list!
TexasNurseMom replied to Pinkygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow Spartan, that was harsh. Yes, in an ideal world, we would never eat bad food or fast food. But, sometimes, when traveling or out running around, it is unavoidable. Geez Louise! -
This is ridiculous and I'm pissed.
TexasNurseMom replied to Lizzy Fu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Chicken tenders. I think it was the breading? Although I can eat nuggets at chick fil a. Not a good food choice I know, but sometimes when you are out there isn't a lot of choice. And I have not tried bread or pasta for fear of getting stuck! -
What do y'all take for pain? Like for head ache, back pain, cramps, etc. Everyday aches and pains? Am having back ache and "monthly" pains right now and haven't taken any pills since banded. And the thought of having to take like 5 spoons of liquid motrin or something is just awful. Have some liquid lottab left from surgery, but hate to takethat. Plus can't take it when I am at work, lol!

TexasNurseMom replied to TexasNurseMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! You too! I have been walking for a couple weeks, am up to 2.5 miles. But so ready to hit the gym and start toning! -
How does everyone get in enough protein? I have it at every meal, but I still can't seem to eat my daily requirement. I get full before I have taken it all in. Do you still use protein drinks? I am 4 weeks out.

I use the myfitnesspal app for my iPhone, but you can do it online too. I am doing about 1200 cal a day right now. I am 4 weeks our and on reg food. Have a fill in 2 weeks so will prob decrease my cals some then. But I am losing so I guess it us working. I Ike this app a lot. I have yet to find a food if doesn't have listed. I can pit in my exercise too and it tells me how many cal I burned. And it tracks your nutrition too so I always know how many grams of protein I am getting, vitamins, fiber etc. And when you close out your day at night it tells you how much you will lose in 5 weeks if you continue to eat like you did that day. Which can be a good reality check. Especially if you are like me and slip up and eat crap on occasion. Try it out!

TexasNurseMom replied to oceangirl6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goal is 1200 cal a day too. I was banded on 2-10-11 and have lost 15 lbs since then, 35 lb total since prep diet. I think 1200 is a reasonable amount. Get filled in 2 weeks , so will prob decreae then -
Whats been the hardest thing for you to give up
TexasNurseMom replied to Lovinglife24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bread. I loved sandwiched, rolls, biscuits, any type of bread. I still have a teeny bit of other things, chip, candy, cookies. I can't totally deprive myself all the time! I am down 35 pounds and exercise regularly so I think it's ok. But damn I would love a big ole sandwich! -
Tighter during your monthly?
TexasNurseMom replied to Swan56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 4 weeks ago and the is my first monthly since then but I have noticed it feels tighter today than last week. Maybe from boosting and hormones? Bad part is I am still having huge chocolate cravings! -
What is everyone eating tonight? I had yummy stir fried veggies ad chicken.
